We ordered the prix fixe lunch and everything that was ordered was very good; definitely worth it. Service was great and servers were attentive. The lighting during the daytime is very bright since there are large windows; I would imagine that the vibe of the place changes substantially for evening dining. I would definitely like to return to see what it is like for dinner.
The decor, food and service were terrific. But for a business lunch, it's noisy making serious conversation difficult.
Food was wonderful and it’s a beautiful restaurant. My concern was with the staff. We felt like we were being rushed to order from the minute we sat down and then rushed to leave as soon as our food arrived. The only time the waitress was pleasant was when she was processing our credit card payments before we left.
Food tasted fine, but it was luke warm borderline cold.
Hostess insisted she can’t find my reservation when I told her twice my kids and wife are already seated. Finally find it with 2 other people’s help.
Waitress never refill coffee.
Worst service I have ever had in my life. Waiter was extremely rude and inattentive. Food wasn’t even that good for the price. Never coming back here.
Great for large family groups. Quality and ambience.
C'était parfait comme toujours. Le service a été merveilleuse et le repas délicieux. Les meilleurs benedits
Good venue, good food, good service, good lunch experience. Noise level is acceptable. Not too noisy.
The salad nicois keeps shrinking. Just 2 Boston lettuce leaves. Great flavor but small portion foe the price. Also we waited a lot for coffee we had to remind the server.
My friend and I made a reservation for 3 pm, with the notion that this was still considered lunch time. Upon arrival and glancing at our menus, however, we saw a very limited menu, that did not include everything on the lunch menu online. We learned from our waiter that between 3 and 5, the restaurant goes through a transition period between lunch and dinner and they use this transitional menu during that time. There was no mention of this online or when I confirmed our reservation over the phone.
I was obviously very disappointed, as I was looking forward to trying out particular items on the lunch menu that I had planned to order in advance, and was not able to, as they are very strict about adhering to this menu between 3 and 5.
While this might seem like a #firstworldproblem, I think the restaurant should be more transparent about this transitional period that they have, because we would’ve 100% made a reservation for a different time if we had been aware. That way, we could’ve ordered what we want and have an overall less disappointing experience.
The service was amazing, food was superb and I will be definitely coming again.
The food is as good as always however kinda little disappointed about service. No ketchup offered when we ordered scrambled eggs and no knife for apple tarts. We have to wait and ask for it. And it’s not that busy at that time.
Omlette had no taste, salad was mainly lettuce. Noise level made it very difficult to hear anyone except for the person beside you. Will never go back
Excellent dining experience, really enjoyed the evening. 1st time, will return, thanks.
Food was of poor quality and did not taste fresh. The fish was old and the dessert was stale. The fries were burned and my sandwich was served cold even though it is a hot dish. My friend ordered a burger "well done" and most of the patty was still undercooked.
We got the winterlicious menu and we were really disappointed, as the main and appetizer were way too salty, and the dessert is way too sweet. The service is not up to standard as well.
It was a good experience. We wanted to experience their winterlicious menu but it was not available on weekends. It would have been good if this was indicated on their website, so that is slightly misleading. The ambiance is beautiful, the decor is lovely, the food was ok, and not outstanding. The lobster in the egg benedict was over cooked and dry.
I’ve typically gone here for dinner but REALLY enjoyed it for brunch.
The food was great, but the service was meh. Our server kept taking one persons coffee order, leaving, then leisurely coming back to to another persons order. When I order a chai latte (which I’ve got there multiple times before) she told me they don’t make that. To top it off I made the reservation for my birthday and they did nothing special, which is unusual in my opinion.
Love the restaurant however we ordered beignets to come before our main brunch food and they didn’t show up until we were in the middle of our mains And although the restaurant was not full for Sunday brunch, we felt as though our meal was rushed.
Beautiful setting, our server was very attentive. Food was delicious. Everything from the lobster bisque, served st thr perfect temperature, to thr streak my wife had and the duck confit was perfectly rendered. I'm glad Winterlicious offered us the oportunity to try this restaraunt. Id rate it higher had it not been the one of thr other couples that sat behind us. He seemed to know one of the other wait staf. And they couldnt stop screaming at each other. After a while it was off putting. Otherwise a lovely evening.
The decoration is very nice. But the food is expensive for what it is. As an appetizer we had a salmon tartare. Tartare is supposed to be raw. This was half cooked. And served with over salted chips ! (home made but still). The meet was good. The dessert was good too. But nothing that amazing. And we paid $18 for a 3 mouthful-glass of wine. Too expensive.
My family of six went here for Winterlicious this past Saturday. I am quite aware that some restaurants skimp out during Winterlicious. However, I find that more reputable restaurants usually do not, so I thought I would give La Société a try. It was a bad decision.
Let's start with taste and portion size. The portion sizes were tiny (even for French cuisine) and the taste was mediocre to downright terrible. I expected more from such a well-established restaurant. The potato chips served with the salmon tartare were stale and you get more chips than salmon tartare. My dad had the lobster bisque and it was so salty, he did not even finish it.
The duck confit was dry and overly salted. I'm not sure how that was even possible as that the point of confit is to prevent the meat from drying out. The lentils served with the duck were hard and there were random strips of beets that did not go with the the rest of the dish. The rainbow trout was mediocre and tiny.
The desserts were all terrible and tasted like something out of a grocery store. The pastry in the "mille feuille" was bland and stale. The dark chocolate fondant was cold and hard and the "lava" inside was lukewarm. The Paris brest was also hard and tasted like a Nutella donut from Tim Horton's.
Overall, the portion sizes were small, the plating was atrocious and the taste was awful. However, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the service, because I had read other reviews on here that complained about the service. My server was excellent, so props to her. I would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant to others and I would not come back.
Interesting restaurant. The dining room ambiance is beautiful. The stain glass is impressive. The dark wood made me feel like this was really a bistro on the left bank. Dining room tables would be more comfortable if they were even a little bit larger. We had dinner and ordered from the Winterlicious menu. The food was good. The bread was very fresh. We ordered lobster bisque soup, which was excellent. The steak and frites was OK. The frites were sliced thin and well done. The steak was seasoned but very chewy. It may have been a cheaper cut since this was a Winterlicious menu, but in that case, the meat could have used a marinade before cooking. Desert was chocolate. Who wouldn't love that? But the leaves of the Mille-feuille were tough and needed a knife to cut. We suggest one of the other choices on the menu.
It was OK, I guess. Even though it was Winterlicious, the bill for 2 was over $200. There are a lot of restaurants that serve equal food in less expensive ways. But they don't have a stain glass ceiling.
We had a lovely brunch! Fantastic food and excellent service! We will be back!
The Lobster Bisque was amazing!! The ambience was great too
The food is really bad. We have to wait so the food to come for at least 20 min between each course. The food were not tasty neither. McD fries are better. Tables are so close together. Very noisy
Went for winterlicious menu
Tables were too small and didn't feel like we had enough space and I made reservations
appetizers were okay
Some of the edges of chips that came with the appetizers were burnt (If it's black it's burnt)
Steak and frite (fries were dry and some were burnt - only ate 1/3) They didn't do the double fry technique so you're better off just eating from a place that serves frozen fries
Duck was good but a little too salty
side was lentils, just too much of it and portion didn't match. It's like having 10:1 ratio of lentil to duck when a 1:1 ratio would be better you just need a couple of spoon fulls of it
Kitchen was backed up so it took about 30 minutes for desserts to be served
I think they rushed it
Server only gave us a fork without realizing that we would need knives
It took a while to get the server's attention to get knives
Mille feuilles wasn't flaky (it was so hard to cut it that we switched to a steak knife and even then I gave up - only ate 1/3)
The other one looked like a donut. It was okay but Krispy Kreme would have tasted better
Overall, I wouldn't go back. I'm a great home cook and for the price, I can get the same ingredients and make it taste better.
Sadly you'd have a better experience at a franchise like the Keg.
French cuisine at its best. Excellent service and good ambiance
My friend and I were at this restaurant for winterliscious. It was a wonderful experience. I would recommend this restaurant.
We went for the winterlicious lunch. The server was nice. I ordered lobster bisque which was too salty and not hot, which was disappointing. The main, rainbow trout, was tasty and beautifully presented.
Food we had for winterlicious was ok... even though there were no other people waiting I thought the waiter was really pushing to get us out
Went for Winterlicious lunch yesterday and had a quick meal which was nice. Was really unhappy with the dessert - the Dark Chocolate Fondant was very disappointing and really hard. Was not expecting that at all, given that it was the server’s recommendation.
Save for the appetizer the food wasn’t good. Especially for the price you pay, the quality was awful. The dessert was atrocious. Mille fueille was not mille fueille and what is supposed to be flakey pastry needed a saw to Cut through. The waitress was offended when I gave her feedback and gave me attitude. Would not recommend and will definitely not be returning.
We had the prix fix Winterlicious menu and was not blown away by the experience. I had tuna tartar and there were only five potato chips were given on the plate. The trout was pretty good, I liked the crispy skin, however he whole pate was too greasy. For dessert I ordered the dark chocolate fondant cake, it was pretty nice and very rich.
My boyfriend had the lobster bisque which was really good and the burger was e found too salty so he didn’t bother to finish. His dessert was small and cute and tasted pretty good cuz it was not too sweet.
Good atmosphere, good music, very friendly and attentive staff, delicious dish.
The food was quite good, overall, but not "special". Not worth a repeat visit. And the wooden tables and banquets are showing a lot of wear, which is very surprising given the restaurant's reputation for a higher end dining experience.
Excellent salmon tartare, lobster bisque, burger & frites, and trout. While dessert was presented beautifully, it was nothing to write home about. Service was wonderful.
People are friendly and will definitely recommend to friend.
