Simply put this is a must go to place. You will be impressed from service to food.
The best Mexican food in NYC.
Dinner was quite good. Service was very welcoming - it's a small place with a few tables and a bunch of people eating at the bar. there's happy hour before 7:00pm.
The food is small plates - tacos and such - but lovingly prepared and very delicious so order a few. Also table side prepared guacamole with homemade chips and other dipping devices.
Delicious margarita's and food. everything we ordered was really good from the salsa and chips to the creviche, tacos and the dessert. A little more spicy than I expected but really fresh and delicious. One caveat is be prepared to wait for your food, especially if they are busy. Everything is made to order and super fresh which is why it takes a bit longer!
Absolutley the best!!!! The number one Mexican Restaurant in NYC.
Delicious food but took FOREVER. they ended up coming our three sisters salad in apology but we had to rush eating dinner to make it out on time for our next event. Will be going back— when we have a LOT of time to spare.
The absolute best Mexican food.
It is a must if you are looking for a true culinary experience!!!
Delicious, fresh and filling. The staff is attentive and helpful, and the cocktails are delicious as well.
Absolutely our favorite restaurant in NYC, no doubt about it.
Amazing fresh made to order and gluten free meal! Great margaritas and lovely little restaurant! Can’t wait to be back for more!
Excellent restaurant and service.
Great little place. Good friendly service.
The food is good but the portions are small.
Amazing food and incredible service from Jair and Lee. Overall wonderful experience would highly recommend.
Outstanding all the way around.
Super cute intimate space with romantic lighting and food that was equal parts authentic and creative. The owner took time to chat with us, and the wait staff were super likeable and attentive. Very jealous of the folks who get to call this their neighborhood bar.
I live this place. Wonderful, fresh, innovative food and super friendly service. Thanks
We were bereft when Slowteria left the neigbhorhood & overjoyed that it is back!
We loved our Sunday lunch here. Authentic Mexican with excellent quality and creativity.
We will be sure to go back and tell our friends.
It has a very nice casual vibe, good service and great drinks!
Everything is sourced locally and it's true they have nothing from a can used to make any of the dishes.
The food is especially outstanding as is the handmade corn tortillas. The salsas are so flavorful.
The table side guac is really good.
Drinks I prefer the tequila margarita over the mezcal.
The flavors in the food is what I would always recommend.
Glad to have it back! Neighborhood staple and best Mexican in the hood by a long shot.
La Slowteria recently reopened with a new partner at the bar with the chef in a small space on Court Street in Carroll Gardens. The salsa sampler with homemade tortillas and queso fundido with chorizo is so filling and delicious. They also have an expanding collection of tacos with unusual fillings which go great with their margaritas.
Best Mexican in bklyn
Fantastic. So happy it's back
So good! The tacos were amazing and made with love. Secret, there’s outdoor patio seating!
Beautiful evening spent on the outdoor patio of Slowteria! I hadn't been in several years and was happy to see that the quality of the service and ingredients has not decreased- our server Joni mixed us beautifully fresh bespoke cocktails using herbs grown in the patio garden and made fresh guacamole tableside (avocado was underripe but the chipotle salsa was flavorful).
The food is fresh and authentic. I've been to Tulum
The garden is lovely
The waitress was friendly, helpful and focused on us without being overbearing
The happy hour drinks were delicious. Our waitress brought us second drinks on the house
I would definitely recommend this restaurant
terrible clueless service. dirty fork. they did not even apologize when we pointed that out. warm white wine. food was just fine and not worth suffering through the overall poor quality of the joint.
Live the authentic taste and garden was lively
Cozy, fun, casual - with a super nice and warm staff. They re perhaps a little understaffed, but made up for it with free drinks and shots. The food was great, and interesting for a place that basically serves just tacos and salads. The guacamole was terrific (they make it at your table) and when we complained the music was a little loud, they turned it right down. Not your usual NYC joint. If you want a laid back, neighborhood-y experience on the edge of Carroll Gardens, this is your place.
Very nice and more upscale Mexican food. Delicious tacos and nice flavorful spices. Friendly atmosphere and waitstaff. I've been to Slowteria twice and throughly enjoyed my meals.
La Slowteria fits the "neighborhood gem" description perfectly. Lovingly crafted food in a convivial setting, with a warm and caring staff. Try it!
We have eaten here before and it was great. I think this time it was even better. Would recommend it to friends in the neighborhood and elsewhere for a great place to get authentic Mexican with a twist food. The waitstaff super friendly.
One of the better meals we've had. Neighborhood spot that exceeded all expectations.
We love La Slowteria. Amazingly well-crafted food. You can taste the love.
Delicious food, wonderful service and ambience just right!
I made 9:00PM reservations for 2. When we arrived they told us we could sit at a table, but we would have to move when another reservation showed up. My boyfriend and I were slightly annoyed because who wants to sit at 1 table and start eating/drinking and then have to move to a different table? Why did we make a reservation to begin with? Luckily there were open seats at the bar so we sat at the bar instead.
Fortunately Hugo was the bartender and he was AMAZING. He made the most delicious drinks and told us about the menu and origin of the restaurant. He told us about his wife (the owner) and his flair for food and drinks. The food and drinks were nothing short of incredible, Hugo is wonderful. He was charismatic, friendly and on top of everything. I highly recommend the quesadilla with popcorn. My boyfriend took a bite of the shrimp taquito and Hugo immediately noticed his discomfort (heat from the jalapeno) and gave him a small chunk of cheese to soothe his mouth.
I will DEFINITELY be back to La Slowteria. I live in Park Slope and I have yet to find any restaurant as appetizing, friendly and authentic as this one.
See you there?
Service is too slow
i am a huge fan of this restaurant and eat there regularly. the food is some of the best in the neighborhood. however we just came home from our first meal with their new policy of eliminating full table service and our dining experience was horrible. the food arrived lukewarm. we sat for 45 minutes in front of dirty dishes with no one coming by to clear them, no one offering desert, and no one offering us drinks, which we might gladly have ordered had they been offered. on top of that, we had invited close friends out for what we thought would be a nice, celebratory dinner for their recent wedding, only to find out that we were ordering dinner at a counter, like we'd asked them to chipotle. the total bill for our meal came to more than $160, in addition to the baby sitter we hired for $75. on our family budget, $235 is a lot of money. when we spend that much it's for a special occasion and we don't expect to bus our own table and fetch our own water. the worst part is they could have notified of this change in policy (no table service) via Open Table or by calling us, but they did not. had we known, we would have gone to a different restaurant for this special occasion, and maybe gone to la slowteria when we want a quick, casual dining experience. also, if they are going to not offer table service, they need to lower their prices, which are still on the high-end side.
La Slowteria is worth the price if you're looking for an authentic experience. The chef makes some pretty original Mexican dishes inspired by Tulum (near Cancun and Cozumel) and I can't help but say this may be one of the best restaurants I've been to. If you're looking for "regular" Mexican food (aka "Tex-Mex" or "Cali-Mex") this is NOT it. This is real Mexican food made by real Mexicans. And you've got to try it. Also had a lot of great seafood on the menu.
It was a hot evening and they had no air conditioning. The service was terrible. It took way too long to order anything, food came out in wrong order, if at all. The food was pretty good, but way overpriced for the total package. I would have been better off eating at a taco truck.
