When we arrived the sign on their door said CLOSED... very very disappointed that there was no update on the open table site to warn us
Last lunch day and understaffed again...and slowwwwwwwwww to get food to us. I knew it was closing so took a chance....was not a good experience.
La Sen is our favorite place to eat for any special occasion. The food is always exquisite in presentation and flavor. We are so sad that their Concord restaurant is officially closing after Valentines. Good to know they have the Walnut creek restaurant still to continue the always welcoming and delicious French Cuisine. When we dine La Sen, it is appetizers, salads, wine, main entrees and deserts. Do not deny yourself anything.
Thank you La Sen
Local classy restaurant that dressed up Concord with amazing foods and ambiance. Unfortunately, Concord location being pushed out by big developement project and closing after Valentine’s Day. Support La Sen at Walnut Creek site.
A very good restaurant. It is a shame that it will e closing at this location in a week.
Delicious food at a reasonable price in a nice atmosphere.
Good for a fancy "lunch". They took a while to bring out the complimentary bread but when they did, it was so good. The cilantro dip was different and exceptional. When my daughter asked for more, they happily refilled the bread basket and dip. We had french onion soup and the salmon tartar, both were so good but we were already full at this point. I tasted the vegetable lasagne and it was surprisingly very tasty. I enjoyed my duck confit.
I had a great time with my parents and liked the food. I'm a fan of a crispier confit du canard, but the sauce-y version here is good too!
Food was awesome. Loved it but the service was little slow. It’s ideal for casual gathering but not for business meals when you are on time crunch.
Great food, wonderful wine all at a very reasonable price. My only complaint is that we were seated close to the font door nd it was chilly.
The food was delicious! We had their salade de haricots verts, salade de crave and the entrees were the entrecôte frite and Moules ala creme. Everything was made perfectly.
The service was very attentive!
Would like to see more dishes on the menu for those of us
who do not eat meat. Other than that, it was excellent meal and we enjoyed every bite.
Nice neighborhood French place. Reminds me of trips to France.
We’ve got the chicken and a flourless chocolate cake
The bread was perfect French (even with the accent!)
Glad they are opening a new restaurant in Walnut Creek
Wonderful cozy restaurant with great food. The service has always been excellent .
The food was very good, but be prepared to wait. There was easy parking on the street. We will be back for sure.
Food was fantastic! Portions were a bit small, but the quality and preparation were excellent. We had a very sweet server, but the service was slow. She had to take care of the entire dining room, which must have been an overwhelming challenge. Also attributing to the slow service would have been the fact that one of the chefs called in sick, so there were just one chef and one server for the whole evening. Not good. The prices dictate better service. Also, it became very, very cold as the evening wore on. I have severe arthritis, so I felt it even more acutely than my friend, who was also shivering. I have a feeling that not only did it cool down when a lot of the customers left, perhaps the heat was turned down -- even off. It would be terrific if the service matched the quality of the food and the prices. We had a very good time, though. Fortunately, we weren't in a hurry.
Food was wonderful and the owner was kind and friendly.
Ambiance and food very good. Service needs attention. Server lost eye contact so could not ask for things. Water/coffee not replenished when needed. Spoon not supplied for 2 orders that needed spoons. Was told that manager said not to supply spoon for the entree that had lots of beef sauce. Can't use a fork for that so 2 people had to leave the sauce - which was a very good sauce. Not many in the restaurant at the time so that would not be good excuse for ignoring customer for too long. Food very good but there are too many good restaurants to go back after a negative experience. Having spent many years in the food-service industry, I can only advise the management - TRAIN YOUR SERVERS NOT TO LOSE EYE CONTACT WITH CUSTOMERS; the dining experience is more than the food.
Joe Moran, Orinda
Favorite neighborhood restaurant and we regret that they will be leaving, hopefully only temporarily, but we will follow them to their Walnut Creek location until they return to Concord.
This never fails for a lovely meal day or evening. Food is outstanding.
Slow service but great food and experience. Staff seemed overwhelmed but everything turned out good.
We have gone here often but feel the food remains good but misses are happening and the service has been poor because there is only one person to take orders, wait on tables, clear tables and that leaves us wondering if we are getting a nice experience or one I'd just rather not have....we probably won't be back....although loved it for awhile.
We had a lovely lunch for four; our waitress was very accommodating. Thank you!
It's small, quiet, with excellent service -- and really good French food. My wife thoroughly enjoyed a rib-eye steak with garlic pommes frites. She reports the French onion soup was the best she has had anywhere. We both enjoyed the unusual, very tasty cilantro/garlic dipping sauce with fresh bread. I had a pear salad and the evening special, a lamb ragout on risotto (that doesn't sound very French but it was quite good!) with baked butternut squash -- excellent. For dessert we shared little apple-blueberry pastries with vanilla ice cream that were superb (my wife quickly abandoned her promise to have just one bite). I had been in the mood for French food for a time (in our area there seem to be few options) and had never been here. We enjoyed it immensely.
Consistently good quality food at a fair price for the area and type of food
Always enjoy La Sen....I travel to Paris frequently for work and the quality of the food prepared here is on par with that I expect in France....have not been disappointed. My only complaint is typically on Saturday evenings they tend to not have enough Staff to handle the tables in Concord location. I am hearing that Walnut Creek location is bigger and have more wait staff available so might try that location next time.
Excellent cuisine at reasonable prices with good service in a bistro ambiance.
The food was absolutely superb. Nothing could possibly be done to improve it. The onion soup was delicious and the entrees (we both had beef) were food of the gods. The waiter was attentive and thoughtful but he is young and lacks a dignified decorum. He also has long, unkempt hair that should have been tied back or covered.
Food was good and service fine, but it seems thet reoprted to OpenTable that we didn’t show.
Nice find...lovely French dishes...very tasty rich and cooked perfectly. I recommend the dishes we had: steak & fries, duck confit, calamari. Servers seemed busy though restaurant not full; they were very nice.
The food was great, the atmosphere was pleasant and has a local neighborhood feel. The price was reasonable. In Walnut Creek or SF the prices would be at least 20% higher for the quality of food. However, I was even more impressed with the service. I will definitely be going back.
One of our favorite restaurants to eat at. It never fails to be absolutely delicious. Love love love it.
Grate place with friendly staff and amazing food ncely located in Concord downtown with plenty of parking nearby.
The food is exceptional. I had the filet mignon and it was done perfectly. Most definitely will go back
Great little place with great waiters! Super service is zcellebt repast! Out waiter even spoke French!
Food is always good here. Thier duck confit is delicious, their ribeye steak delicious, great onion soup and sometimes they have their lobster bisque as a special. Must try but I will tell you their service can be a bit slow.
Excellent French food...attentive service....good value
Only negative is that either the AC wasn't working well enough or the owner decided to keep it low. It was really hot outside and inside was just bearable. Feel bad for Kitchen and wait staff. But we'll be back. Good food.
Delicious food and nice quiet atmosphere, as always. They could have used one more server, but Gary did his best and was attentive. We'll be back.
