There were 6 of us, each with different needs, and everyone had a wonderful dining experience. As the host, I was really pleased with La Sen's menu which had something for everyone.
I thought the food was delicious, and was presented nicely. However, they were understaffed for whatever reason and only had one waiter. I'll presume it was a temporary problem.
I love this place! Always delicious, great service.
Great authentic French cuisine with some regional spin. The cilantro pesto dipping sauce is worth the trip. Good value with most all entrees less than $30. Duck confit has been my favorite.
Absolutely charming! Every single thing we ordered was fantastic!!!!
Very good overall, a little slow in refilling beverages, but not bad
The food at La Sen Bistro is consistently good. We've had several different dishes and have liked them all. At times the wait staff is somewhat overwhelmed, but they are all good, friendly, and efficient.
We will continue to dine there.
The service was slow and inattentive. Only two servers in restaurant on a Friday night. Not enough.
They don't answer their phone, but the reason is because they have a small staff, and they are devoted to providing excellent service to their customers. If they answered the phone all the time, that excellent service would suffer. GO ANYWAY!! The food is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!
The food was excellent, the Sparkling wine was delicious and the server, Gary was OUTSTANDING!!! Very attentive, professional and helpful. We enjoyed our meal so much we stayed for 2 hours. Grateful for a lovely Birthday lunch for my friend.
The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere was charming. We were in a good mood and it was my birthday.
Right from the start, however, we noticed that our waiter never made eye contact with us and seemed uncomfortable. He didn't tell us the specials, bring us bread, or dessert... and we were the only table he had for the first 25 minutes we were there. He was unfriendly. The man clearly has no future in the food service industry. Being able to pronounce menu items should not qualify someone for a job in such an otherwise lovely French restaurant.
Fortunately, there was another waiter there who noticed our plight and started taking care of us. He brought us several glasses of water, bread, and dessert. He was intelligent, charming, friendly and everything we hoped for in a waiter.
We were pleasantly surprised! Would definitely return in the future.
Food great service horrible. Terribly understaffed!!!!!! Lots of waiting. Brought me the check without asking if I wanted coffee or dessert. Had to get my own napkins and asked for water numerous times. Fine if you know going into the place. Food is tasty.
Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. We made dinner reservations for 4 but when we arrived, there was no table reserved for us. We had to wait at the bar until a table was available. We were given glasses of champagne - I'm assuming to compensate for the lack of a table. When we got the table, a couple of us weren't given napkins or bread plates. The food was decent and the rest of the service was ok, but first impressions we're not very good.
The food was great. Not one bad thing to say about this place. Service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely plan to go back again.
We arrived at 5p on Wednesday mostly all tables were open. Service was excellent, started with escargot and it was delicious. We had been to Paris just last year and were hoping to find a local place that was most authentic. My husband got the duck confit it was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. I ordered the braison beef. It was again cooked beautifully and seasoned very well. This was our first visit but we are already excited to visit again and explore more of the menu.
Love this restaurant, but it was 101 degrees out and their a/c was not working very well so that
detracted from the overall dining experience. Love that you can bring own wine and corkage is only $15. The food is always delightful and the desserts are fabulous. I highly recommend this great local restaurant.
This is a laid back, cozy, intimate place. The escargot were amazing....the best I've had and their house made dipping sauce is one of a kind. Everything we had was really tasty and the wine selection made the meal. Do not pass this up!
Small, cozy place with some outstanding dishes.
The escargot was the best I've ever had .....you have to try it!
I had the pan-seared scallops and they were perfect.
The food here is classic French cuisine, not cutting edge, but consistently good and moderately priced. The dishes are well executed and attractively plated, served in a bistro-style dining room that feels distinctly European. Parking can be difficult on Thursdays, during the summer, when Concord presents its summer music series. The duck breast is excellent, as are the other menu choices, most of which I've tried on my many visits here. Recently, the owners opened a second offshoot in Walnut Creek, which I'm looking forward to trying.
This was our first experience. We live in the area and have always wanted to try La Sen. We will be back.
Small, quaint setting. Great food. Busy but, not to the point where our service lacked in any way.
Enjoyed the duck with orange and honey glaze. The special - tiger prawns with homemade artichoke ravioli was superb.
We brought our own bottle of wine which paired nicely with our entrees. A small $15 corkage fee was acceptable.
A great experience in all aspects from start to finish.
We recently dined here. Everyone was thrilled with their entrees. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I have been here before, but it was the first time for my guests. They all said they would be back soon.
Quaint little French restaurant hidden in Concord. Excellent food and great service. Great place for having a romantic dinner with the one you love. They have a strawberries pastry dessert that is outstanding. My wife would come back just for that dessert.
First time at La Sen (Concord) - we'll be back.
Entrees mostly $20 - $30 - very well prepared, nice presentation, reasonable portions. Excellent calamari appetizer and really good mushroom soup.
Waitstaff (and kitchen staff; got to chat with them a bit - restroom is through the kitchen) very friendly and spent exactly the right amount of time with us.
We did make an OT reservation; turns out we didn't actually need it, but the restaurant is rather small and I think the precaution is a good idea.
Very tasty food on all visits. Efficient and friendly staff. On my last visit for dinner I ordered the salmon. It had a light crispy outside and was cooked to perfection on the inside. Best salmon I have ever had. We dine out often, usually at the top rated restaurants in the area of our travels. Looking forward to dining at the Walnut Creek branch of La Sen.
Lots of pluses - food was delicious, easy parking and great location and ambience - only minus was our server - not a problem getting our food on time but he had absolutely no interest in interacting with us to ask us if everything was OK - when I started to tell him how much we enjoyed our meal, there was no response - it was like getting served by a robot - he really needs to work on his people skills.
Wonderful food in a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Helpful staff. Grade A+ all the way!
It was all good except I was not very happy that the charge me a split plate fee (for my 2 kids sharing one order cause they have no kids menu) without telling me ahead of time.
Server also offered the kids ice cream and charged $7 per order.
Service was quite slow tonight; there only seemed to be one server working. The onion soup could have been hotter.
Manifique - The food is always great. I've been coming here for years and Le Sin never disappoints. The service is spot on too!
Le Sen is our favorite restaurant. We had a lovely meal on Saturday 6/3/17. It was our sister's birthday. Just as wonderful this 12th time as our first time. Do try the crab cake salad, any of their salads, lamb chops, pork chop rib eye with garlic fritters, scallop dishes, etc, etc. Desserts are simple but luscious.
Try Le Sen!
The food was as usual: excellent. The service was as usual: relaxed (some might say slow if you were on a tight schedule, but when that is what you want...). The experience was as usual: memorable. I love this small restaurant and love to introduce friends to it that have never been here.
My wife and I come to La Sen once or twice a year. The quality seems to have improved from a very good restaurant to an exceptional one, particularly with the reasonable price that it charges for its dishes. Ingredients for all the dishes in our party of eight were fresh. We had a great dinner. Thank you.
We went to Le Sen on a Friday night and had a great meal for the 4 of us.
Service was excellent as was the entrees and appetizers. Great value for French food
As usual, our pick of the area. We love this place. People, food, our perfect table, good wine list and so affordable. Plus, for us, it's only 5 minutes away. They will be opening a sista restaurant in Walnut Creek. Been told that renovations are happening now. Not sure if menu will stay the same or add more upscale items for Walnut Creek demographics. Although, I'm very particular, so the fact that Concord is fabulous to me, they sure could duplicate menu without issue. Oh, it was our 32nd anniversary and we were able to snag our favorite table in the back near the artsy french scene wall. Nice.
Food is delicious, great service. Love eating here.
Food was good. The service was ok. Not many people there but it picked up a little at the end of lunch.
Best value for quality French cuisine in the East Bay!
I hesitate to recommend this place too highly because then it might become more difficult to get a table. The food is great. We always share the steak tartare and each get a crab cake salad then share an entree. I think the alcohol is limited to wine but for fine French food at these prices, you really can't beat it.
This restaurant is consistently good and demonstrates that excellent food and quality service doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. This is a value for what it is and we appreciate that they haven't gone off the deep end with their success. Give it a try-- it's a worthy place to end up even if you're not a local.
