La Scala - Beverly Hills
Beyond terrible service.
Food was less than average.
Waiter we’re the worst I’ve ever seen.
We waited over half an hour with a reservation, empty tables sat un-bussed, service was slow, host was rude. Food was good but front of house staff didn’t help.
The host is rude and unaccomodating. I don’t like the fact that they will not do any substitutions in chopped salad - in other words, if you are vegetarian, they will not give you tomato instead of salami unless you pay for an addition. The bread is mediocre. Otherwise, it’s what you’d expect from LaScala - good, dependable Italian food.
La Scala is known for their chopped salad! Not to be missed!
As always, the chopped salad never disappoints, but, the host was so rude and obnoxious, i'm not sure I'd ever go back.
Truing to loose some weight, so I ordered chicken rather than pasta. In short, possible the best chicken I have ever eaten!
The service was awful! Not only was it slow, but the waiter had a horrible attitude from start to finish. We have never experienced anything like it! The restaurant was pretty and the food was good, but the poor service took away from it
The service was awful. Had to get the attention of the waiter constantly. She was put out when we complained after waiting for a half hour for drinks. Food was very good but staff needs an attitude adjustment
With a reservation we had to wait 1/2 hour. People were not happy.
The host was extremely unprofessional and rude.
Truly dislike having to book reservation online. our server was very personable and efficient.
chopped salad over priced, should include items such as tomatoes; bread should be served warm.
Excellent service and tasty food.
Rude host for new years eve. Waitress unattentive. Food cold. Was there for NYE dinner last year and had an exceptional experience. Disappointed this year.
Chose LaScala for our New Year's Eve dining experience from over 20 years of dining at this well-known Beverly Hills mainstay. No disappointments.....great food and great service in spite of the crowd. Thanks for making the occasion another reason to keep coming back.
It was fine but not remarkable. The food was not as good as it is at other places nearby. Pastas were nothing special.
Host was rude. Everything else wonderful.
Early New Year celebration . Exceptionally quick and friendly service. Andrew was excellent!
We were seated promptly and our server was wanting to take our drink order as soon as we sat. No greeting and was very rushed.. he acted like this was his first night as a server. Food was excellent and prepared correctly, but the server did not bring salads before main course.Server never checked back but his fellow servers refilled the water and brought the food. He dropped the check and never asked if we wanted anything else. We went somewhere else to get dessert and cocktails.
Friendly and nice
This is the third time in 3 months that I’ve had dinner there and the attitude of the host is not friendly, very unwelcoming and filled with attitude that one does not belong there. Is there really a need for this in today’s world? I am white, wealthy, dress appropriately, 60 years old, presentable, friendly and professional. What would it be like if I were of ethnic background?
Food consistently good and proximity to the Annenberg Theater makes it a perfect spot for an early dinner. Meal served quickly to accommodate our schedule without feeling rushed!
Pretty disappointing evening. Never served—or offered—water. Took more than 20 minutes to order. When food arrived, orders were slightly off—wrong one was dressed, and one had barely any pepperoncino, which I had paid extra for. I noted it to the server who delivered it. When I soon after asked the waitress if I could please get more, she said I would be charged because it’s a set amount. I explained it hadn’t been the customary amount, and that I order this all the time, but she would not budge. She also took more than a half hour to clear our plates—not until we asked for the check. Very poor service and virtually no lighting at our table—to the point that the server used his call phone to check that our orders were correct. I know La Scala takeout service has suffered for some time, but I didn’t expect in-person to be as poor. What a disappointment.
A great restaurant that is always consistent in their food and service.
1st time here.
They knew it was a special occasion ..Birthday. Disappointing they didn't acknowledge that somehow.
Seems like it could be a fun place.
My sister and I chose LaScala due to it’s many years of success and reputation. We asked the waitress for recommendations and she suggested the spaghetti bolognese and eggplant Parmesan, among other items. She said the bolognese was a popular dish, so we ordered it, along with the eggplant Parmesan. The eggplant was delicious.
The bolognese was disgusting. It looked, smelled and tasted like you would think canned dog food would taste. We each took a small bite and sent it back. The waitress offered to get us something else, but said the bolognese would still remain on our bill. We opted to split the eggplant.
We won’t be going back. A restaurant should stand by it’s food and should have offered to take the bad food off of our bill. The manager, also, should have stopped by to apologize. The waitress didn’t even apologize.
This restaurant is famous for its chopped salad. And we go there whenever we are near.
It never disappoints. We ordered it and also an entree to share.
Both were outstanding.
There were not too many customers in the restaurant when we arrived.
As we dined, the restaurant began to become more crowded.
Our server was fine. He checked back once or twice.
The overall ambiance is pleasant. This night it was festive with Christmas music
playing in the background and decorations throughout.
A very lovely dinner.
Always a reliable restaurant. Very convenient to the Wallis theater. It was full at 6:00 on a weeknight, so make a reservation.
Food was pretty bad but honestly, it was as bad as I expected so it was fine. Our waiter was nice and my martini was ok too. Wouldn't go back. The salad was the best thing there, but definitely ask for dressing on the side.
Great all around!
Always love my evenings at La Scala. The hostess went out of her way to make me happy. The waitress was lovely and the food was delicious. We did have a delay in the timing of our food delivery. We waited an extremely long time. I do think the waitress could have acknowledged our inconvenience with some form of compensation. An offer of free dessert perhaps. No mention other than an excuse that it was an computer issue. We would have declined but it would have been the appropriate gesture. None the less it was a lovely experience.
Food was good, including the chopped salad. However they nickel & dime you for everything without telling you upfront, including when asking for cucumbers, pepperoncini and olives with the salad.
Great food and cozy/cute place!
I haven eaten here very often for many years and it is one of my favorite places. I had a 7:00 reservation and wasn’t seated until 7:25. It was very difficult because I brought my elderly mom too. Not okay!!!
Classic charm that has consistently provided good fare, although I've never ordered anything besides the chopped chicken salad.
We had a bad service and the food was mediocre
Chopped salad is the best anywhere
Food excellent wine list great and the service terrific
Hostess the worst and rudest with over six tables empty when we showed up 7 minutes before our reservation time made us wait in the rain with kids.
the restaurant is dated, needs a complete remodel. The food came out in 5 minutes which tells me it is not made to order but rather prepared in advanced, sitting around and then reheated. It's seen better days and will be surprised if it's still around in 2 years with all the new and great restaurants around the area
