La Rivista Ratings and Reviews
Fun place. Old school restaurant that served excellent food.
Best dinner we had in New York. Waiters were a little Surly, old guys who had a way of doing things. But they really knew how to take care of a table. Food was excellent and will be a regular visitor each time we go back
La Rivista is one of our go-tos whenever we have a special weekend planned in Manhattan. The staff is wonderful, a lot of care goes into how they treat their customers. Food is yummy. Ambiance is quiet, and lovely. Great spot for a special meal, or just a moment when you want to get away from the craziness.
This restaurant provided our favorite meal on a long NYC weekend. Its small and busy and delicious. Various staff members waited attentively on us. It felt like a family reunion dinner with all the happy faces enjoying their food. Cheese and bread are offered immediately, and the food is soon on the way.
We were attending a play nearby and our usual dining spots were fully booked. The interior is drab and a coat rack right in the entryway was cramped. We were seated promptly. The bread was the best part of the meal and they served nice chunks of pecorino, a vèry nice touch. A calamari appetizer was nicely prepared but the veal was tough. At best, service was haphazard. The Maitre 'd was particularly annoying. I wouldn't return.
Went to La Rivista Restaurant prior to attending the theater. The restaurant is conveniently located in Restaurant Row, close to the theater district. The food was wonderful and the service was great. I ordered the Lobster Fra Diablo, which is a pasta dish that usually contains a lobster tail, mussels, clams, shrimp with a spicy red sauce. Unfortunately on this particular day, the restaurant did not receive its shipment of shellfish, so the waiter suggested simply adding another lobster tail, which they did and it was wonderful. Very accommodating wait staff. The restaurant had the feel of a family-run establishment with wonderful Italian fare. I highly recommend.
Last minute pre-theater res dictated by location convenient to theater. Pleasantly surprised by the “old school” ambiance, outstanding service and “touches” and equally important, the food.
Definitely a rerun for us; especially when we have more time to enjoy the food and experience.
Great as always. One of the very few solid restaurants that have held up through the years in the theatre district. Authentic Italian food with great service and very friendly staff. The piano sets the mood for a romantic night out. Highly recommend for couples or groups looking for a classy restaurant. We come very year for our anniversary and are never disappointed. This is our favorite restaurant in NYC.
As always, this is the only restaurant I will frequent whenever I am in NY.
The service, the food & the ambiance the best!!!!
I must also mention that the cheese / drizzled with Balsamic glaze, given when you are seated, is a definite plus.
Always #1 in my book.
The food was fantastic! Table for 7 that ordered 7 different main courses and rave reviews all around. Very reasonable for NY dining. Very attentive but discrete staff. I've dined here many times over the last 15 or so years and the consistency is amazing. Always a great pick and recommendation.
I truly hate giving any kind of a negative review, but here goes. The wait staff bordered on rude.
The food was minimal and edible. I think the five of us shared one cut up potato. The portion sizes were so small and I say this after eating at French restaurants with plenty of food.
My wife and me met long time friends from England for dinner at a 6:30 dinner reservation. We arrived early and were immediately seated. The food was excellent and the waiters were very professional. The prix fixe dinner had many good choices and all 4 of us were very happy with our choices. The ambiance was great and we spent over 2- 1/2 hours there and never felt rushed. The wine was also excellent as were the desserts and coffee. We plan to dine here again on our next visit to NYC. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
