La Provence has always been a special place to share a meal with friends and family . The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is always very good. The food is fresh and imaginative and the presentation is very appealing. I highly recommend La Provence to anyone who wants a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience whether it is a planned special occasion or not. It becomes a special occasion just by being there.
I won a gift card for the longest drive and used it for dinner with my husband. The food was great, the atmosphere was great, very quite. Nice soft music. Great for couples wanting nice food great wine and nice onviiunce!
We went to celebrate a birthday and were not disappointed. There was a good selection of foods for most palates, a price fixed menu option that was a good value and, excellent dessert choices. Having an expansive wine cellar, per bottle prices were reasonable with half price bottle prices on Wednesday. The service was outstanding and the ambiance Is warm, cozy, comfortable and romantic! Very nice place for a special occasion .
It was outstanding foods and services with I felt very cozy and romantic. Only thing “fondue” was funny ‘ due to fondue usually in the small pot to service far as my experience. However, it was nice to having lunch in La Provence.
Chef’s prix fixe menu is a great value. Food was very good, (although tuna entree was over cooked, not sliced and no pomegranate arils as pictured on the promo menu). Wine pairings were good but overpriced. Ordered an additional split starter (their famous gnocchi in cream sauce), because you just have to, it’s so decadent. Second wine was late, and they aren’t so great at replacing silverware unless reminded. But overall, the ambiance is nice and food quite adequate for a date night. Enjoyed a night cap at their bar afterwards, and had a very enjoyable time. Thank you Christina! 😊👍🏼
The ambiance and service was absolutely amazing! My steak was very tough but the flavors were good.
The food, ambience, views, and service are excellent.
The service was fine, and is usually good, but for the past few months of frequenting the restaurant, there seems to have been a shift in the quality of food. The last few times I’ve gone with my family the chicken cordon bleu has been very dry, the fish under seasoned, and the appetizers are not as described on the menu. I’m not sure if a different chef was hired, but there has definitely been a difference in the overall experience at the restaurant. My family use to come to the restaurant almost weekly, and now it has become less and less because of the last handful of disappointing visits.
As usual it was a great experience
Normally the food is excellent. It was mediocre this time. The butternut squash dish was mostly pasta, though it wasn't advertised so.
This was over priced for what we received. Small portions mixed up
Orders no water no bread the service was terrible !! Didn’t clear plates .. Never going back
Beautifully prepared Prix Fix New Years Eve meal. Surf, turf and Vegetarian options. Divine desserts. Outstanding wine pairings and holiday cocktail menu. Been here several times. It never disappoints.
My wife and I wanted a quiet upscale dinner for New Year’s Eve. That is what we experienced. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent. We couldn’t have wished fo more.
We normally love this place but our last experience was disappointing! It took a very long time to get our food and when we did it wasn’t that great. We went on New Year’s Eve for my birthday and brought my parents from out of town and was a little embarrassed because we raved about the service and food and was truly disappointed especially for the amount spent there.
A beautiful setting. If the weather permits, outdoor seating is excellent.
We went for New Year’s Eve. They had a limited three course menu but with a good variety of choices. Unfortunately, it felt like some of the food had been pre prepared and had been sitting out for awhile. The amuse bouche was ok but was dried out. The soft shell crab salad was amazing and reached a Michelin rated level of craftsmanship. Unfortunately, like the amuse bouche, the tuna entree was tepid and felt like it had been pre prepared. The dessert was a stale champagne cake. Overall, a bit of a disappointment. Since we had a great meal several days previously, my plan is to avoid the limited choice menus in the future.
Great holiday dinner with the family! Dinner was delicious and the service was great!
I heard it changed the ownership but it was pretty bad. First of all, our waiter was very rude. I wasn’t given any silverware even I asked there times. Finally, the oil seed in the dish ( must be forgotten) cracked my theeth. I am not a spoil lady. I don’t care this kind of incidents however I expect genius kindness- like sincere apology. Until I went to talk to the manager, no one gave a crap about it. He end up giving me a free entry😂😂😂😂. I didn’t ask anything but a serious apology, little bit quality service and smile. I will pay a visit to dendist for sure. Not me- seven other people at the table were thinking the same. My friend asked for desert menu, she was said to wait until the table clean with a very commanding voice bu our waiter.
The food taste changed too. None of us enjoyed with the food. Some of it were okay but just okay.
I recommend spend your money some other place.
The Shepard Pie special was wonderful and paired well with wine! Perfect for this time of year.
We heard this place was just “okay”, but had a gift card so we gave it a try. Started with the Rabbit Confit, which was nothing special. The Caesar salad was good, but came during the appetizer (timing seriously off). The Beef Wellington was tasty, best part of the meal. The scallops were boring—needed salt and/or some other spice! And literally got four Brussels sprout leaves on the plate...definitely missed the vegetables!
Service was friendly but not up to par for what is billed as a fine dining establishment. The Profiteroles took literally 20 minutes to get to the table. I’d go back with another gift card but definitely not otherwise.
We waited over 45 mins after placing our order before waitress came by to check on us and said I assume you got your soup and salad - we said no. She said oh kitchen screwed up. Manager did comp our dinner - right thing to do but truly her fault as first point of contact with us for not checking on us before 45 minutes. Never have experienced this at La Provence over years as a patron. Food is great but truly disappointing service with staff.
A Really Good Neighborhood find. Relatively small to other similar restaurants but has the ambiance, food, and wine of a larger high end restaurant. Perfect for disable access, handicap parking at the front of the restaurant, booths for easier seating access, and bathrooms close by.
Had reservations but still had a long wait. Saw several parties of the same size come in after us and get seated before us. Ran out of bread and had to ask several times for my daughters drink and side. Then I got charged extra for stuff and was not told ahead of time and one I did not even ask for and they just gave us. This is our fourth time visiting for a special occasion and this was disappointing.
We came here on Christmas Eve which is also my Mom's birthday. Our reservation was for 6:00pm. When we ordered they were already out of two entrees on a "prefix" menu. I told them it was my Mom's birthday when I made the reservation and when they called to confirm. I was told to remind my waiter when I arrived. I mentioned it to the waiter TWICE and they never brought over a birthday dessert or sang "Happy Birthday" to my Mom. They forgot my nephews dessert and we had to ask the busser for them and he brought them to us. Again, it was a prefix menu so dessert came with their dinner. Overall for the price the food was not impressive. It was good but not amazing and I expected much more.
Great Christmas eve dinner and quick service, but the chairs aren't comfortable
Mediocre food. Too expensive for the lack of flavor and culinary innovation. Service good as always.
I have visited a few times before both for dining and for happy hour at the bar. This time was a special birthday for a friend in the dining room. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were greeted warmly by the staff. There was a general bonhomie in the air, that put us instantly in a festive mood. This being Christmastime, it was fun to see some of the wait staff dressed in their elvish gear. We ordered Christmas cocktails (the peppermint martini was delicious) and the fondue and tapenade appetizers. Both were delicious, not heavy, but flavorful. For our main course, I had the scallops, my friends the risotto and the “special” which as a seafood bouillabaisse. The scallops were seasoned well, and cooked to a turn. After the meal, our server brought us a complimentary custard for the birthday girl complete with candle. We were seated near the roaring fireplace, but the temperature was perfect, neither too hot nor too cold. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with La Provence. I will be returning for sure.
Great service - yummy food - ready to come back
Christmas lunch for my office turned out perfect. There have been times when the noise was too loud, or foot hit and miss, but December 20 was perfect. Everyone was happy!
Two of three entrees were great: salmon and gnocchi. Third entree was poor; short ribs over cooked to until dry. No offer to replace; just a small container of sauce, not the original sauce.
Hadn't been in a few years and my return visit did not disappoint. It was first time for my two guests and they loved it. Our server was attentive, but not too much. The food was out of this world - 2 lamb shanks and 1 salmon, plus a creme brulee and 3 of the ice cream filled cream puffs w/chocolate. (sorry can't remember the French name). You are a special gem. Can't wait to come back in the spring and eat outside.
My only negative is the music was a little too loud.
When ever I am in the Sacramento/Roseville area I make it a point to go to La Provence! It is definitely one of my worldwide all time favorites! I line the preset three course meals, the bread pudding and the variety of main dishes.
Excellent steak and short ribs. Always a good experience.
We love this restaurant but they were overbooked so they asked us to be in the lounge area. That said it would be quieter and had their own bar. It was by far our noisiest experience ever at this restaurant. There was a larger group in there that did not care that others were there as well. With that said the service and the food was amazing as always an we will be back
Had an incredible time! First time there and I was very impressed! Would definitely recommend!
Best dining experience I have had in a long time. Food was amazing.
Whenever I want a special place for a special occasion, I can count on La Provence to provide atmosphere and food.
I took my girlfriend there. She had never been to the restaurant. We had a wonderful time. My scallops are excellent. Hers were a little soft. But still very tasty. Service was excellent.
Great service and food. Always a special place. Will be back.
