LA Prime at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel Ratings and Reviews
First time trying LA Prime and I definitely would recommend this place for special occasions the food was beyond amazing and the ambiance was on point. Our host for the night Barret H made the night extremely memorable and was super attentive definitely made the night even more special!!!!
I loved it they sat us at a view it was more for my parents, the server was really nice and sweet as well as the bus boy. Everyone was really kind and helpful they do tell you about your mean in case you think you might know what it is so that way your not confused when you receive it. Overall it was an outstanding experience. I would certainly go back,
I was celebrating my 4 yr wedding anniversary, initially I was insulted by a server, when asked for a menu that had a page 20 for dessert wines, he insinuated that I could not afford a bottle of wine and his tone was downgrading, as if I could not afford to dine at this restaurant. Even ordering our food, my wife wanted a Porterhouse and a potato. I am not big on beef and nothing truly appeared to jump at me off the menu, so I ordered the Lobster Bisque. When I gave the waiter our order, his response was, "So, you will be sharing your meal?" I couldn't believe he figured we would share a meal, like I could not afford 2 meals. I am not a child, I don't need an extra plate to share a steak meal. My response was excuse me, "I don't eat steak and all I want is the Lobster Bisque, is that okay?" I think he noticed that I was a little uncomfortable with his tone. I may not look like a wealthy black rapper or a hip hop star, but all I wanted to do was to have a nice quiet dinner with my wife and enjoy the scenery. Even the steak my wife ordered had to be sent back to the kitchen, because she ordered well done and it came out burnt, with a layer of charred grease on it. Overall, it was a salvaged night, but the dinner part of my surprise for my wife, blew up right in my face. I have never felt so insulted.
Our servers were wonderful! Right when we were introduced to them they acknowledged my Niece’s Birthday and wished her a happy birthday. I had put it down as a comment when I booked with open table. The restaurant is nice the view is beautiful!
My only complaint is my disappointment with my entree. I ordered th fillet mignon. When it was served to me it was just the fillet in the middle of this big plate and if you looked close enough you would see 3 tiny....little pieces of roasted garlic. That was it. I asked for medium and it was more towards well done so dry. It tasted a tad bit burnt on the outside. I did not say anything because it was my Nieces 21st birthday and I thought she might be embarrassed if I said anything so I just kept it to myself. I am sure the menu probably said just the fillet. All I focused on was the fillet when ordering and assuming it would at least be plated with a sprig of broccoli and or maybe a small.....serving of garlic mashed potatoes or something. The presentation was terrible. I was very disappoint in my entree. I would normally not say anything but for a $62 10 oz fillet mignon I was expecting it to be better than it was. I bought 3 choice fillets at Costco for way less and my husband put them on the grill and they were way better than this one. I realize I am paying for a lot of other things in my fillet like the location etc., but I still expected a nice fillet mignon.
Great Food, Amazing View and fabulous staff!!
Always looking for new places to go downtown, especially for steak, so saw the TravelZoo offer and figured give it a try, and glad we did!
The steaks were some of the best I've had in LA!!
The staff was beyond attentive to make sure our every need was taken care of, and the view on a clear night ... well pretty amazing.
A great place to just meet up for a really good meal, and an even better place for a romantic evening, you won't be sorry!
Will be heading back soon!!
The food was good as was the service. The view is magnificent. It is a nice change from the higher priced steak houses in and about Los Angeles. The lobster bisque was excellent. Wines choices were also excellent and reasonably priced.
This is the second time we visited LA Prime using a Travelzoo deal. The menu has been downgraded slightly, as you are no longer offered a soup and a salad with the Travelzoo promotion. Instead, you may choose between a soup or salad, and they have added an amuse bouche dish, which is basically a morsel at the beginning of the meal to tease the palate. Unfortunately, the amuse Bouche was poorly done, and added very little to the dining experience. The previous travel zoo promotion was significantly better value than this one, although in all fairness the promotion is still a very good value over all. Our server, Blake, was excellent, personable, and attentive.
Leaving aside the disappointing amuse bouche opening course, The remainder of the meal was excellent, as you would expect. The beet salad is a favorite, and it did not disappoint. Likewise, the petite fillet mignon was an excellent kind of meat, and prepared quite well. The temperature was perhaps a tad more done then we ordered it, however, a good cut of meat such as this one tends to be more forgiving. The desserts were also excellent. We chose the crème brûlée cheesecake, and the chocolate mousse cake. Both were very good.
We do enjoy this restaurant, and the Travelzoo promotion is always a great value. Hopefully they opt to return to their former menu and reinstate the soup and salad instead of limiting you to just one, however, I am sure cast is a significant consideration.
Me and my girlfriend were celebrating our one year anniversary and I had made reservations months in advance. I specifically asked for a window seat with a view. We got sat at a window with a horrible view of union bank in our face. I then noticed there were about 5 empty table more down and wanted one. I kindly asked my server “Rafael” if we could move down and he was not helpful whatsoever. He was not understanding and gave me a hard time. Mind you, this was a very special night for us. Thankfully I was able to talk to the main hostess and get seated with a much better view of the city. The food was delicious and yes this restaurant is pricey. Overall besides the beginning commotion It was a nice night.
Parking valet told us to park across street, parking should have been free if we were to park in the building. The server, Cameron, was exceptionally awesome!! Such excellent service and so attentive. After he learned that we were told to park in the parking structure across, he kept apologizing and gave us a couple of chocolate and waived the balance of our bill.
First time here and the service not good that night for fine dine in or maybe it depends with the server. Our hispanic server is rude ! I asked if i can have more bread & i thought she will reply like Yes sure i can bring u more.instead she replied “are u done with the bread?” and its like theres only 2pcs left thats so hard to bite on thats why we requested one more set. anyway she still gave us new bread but without any butter and olives.C’mon u dont need to be rude
just for the bread and u will give it anyway. Overall food and ambience are awesome!
Lastly the server gave a wrong bill like $200 instead and she was like are u sure its not yours .Really had a bad experience!
I loved this place. The only drawback was the fact that I made a reservation and still had to wait an hour to be seated but while we waited we went down to the revolving Bonavista Lounge and we loved that so it made up for the wait. Great place!
We went there for dinner, our reservations was at 8:15 pm, and we got there at 8:00pm. did not get seated till 9:15, but was told they were just getting our table ready at 8:15..... we waited 1 hour to get seated but told 5-10 mins every time we ask about the wait. If we knew it was a hour and 15 min wait we would have left. The food we order came out not the way we wanted and the sides were plain and no flavor. Steak asked for we well... came out raw, potatoes tasted uncooked, asparagus seems to be steamed..... overall not recommended unless your just trying to get a few drinks with great view.... but well over priced food and drinks.
