LA Prime at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We went there for dinner, our reservations was at 8:15 pm, and we got there at 8:00pm. did not get seated till 9:15, but was told they were just getting our table ready at 8:15..... we waited 1 hour to get seated but told 5-10 mins every time we ask about the wait. If we knew it was a hour and 15 min wait we would have left. The food we order came out not the way we wanted and the sides were plain and no flavor. Steak asked for we well... came out raw, potatoes tasted uncooked, asparagus seems to be steamed..... overall not recommended unless your just trying to get a few drinks with great view.... but well over priced food and drinks.
We went for our anniversary, had a okay experience. Just my wife and I where sat in a large booth (first booth to your left as you walk in), the view was obstructed by the table in front of us, the partitions for the waiting area, and the partitions between booths. The service was slow that evening, it took an estimated five minutes to take our drink order (which is okay, however the restaurant has a waiter and an assistant for each section). The waiter seemed very attentive to the other tables around us but not our table. I am not sure why, I do not know if it is because we did not order wine (we do not alcohol drink), if we were dressed causal (business casual), or because we order off the dine LA menu but our server was not attentive. Also, after my wife order the waiter asked if we where just splitting her order (LOL, we were not sure if we should be offended). I enjoyed the lobster bisque, the steak was just average ( I prefer Morton's steak) and dessert was nice. I am glad they validity parking. Overall, I thought our anniversary dinner was going to be something special (it was not). In all honesty it was average food and below average service, we where left extremely disappointed and would not recommend LA Prime for a special occasion.
Top notch service! From the moment we arrived to the moment we paid, the waiters and hostesses were fantastic, friendly and welcoming! The food was delicious. I had the filet mignon, my husband had the lamb and the crab cake appetizer was one of the best I’ve had. I have to give a special thanks to Norma, our waitress, who was beyond perfect in making the whole night more enjoyable!
My boyfriend and I are from the hood, we go to ihop or korean bbq for special occasions. We decided for our first anniversary we go somewhere where we drop bills. Not once did the staff make us feel lame for not being able to afford the main course plates, we still bought a main course meal. I do think the lighting makes you feel more full and sleepy because we ordered the most affordable things on the menu and we felt poor but luckily, we were full. The mac and cheese with bacon was so delicious! Dinner was so lovely and will save up to go again.
I was very disappointed with the food, i have been coming here for years and this is the third year that I have taken my wife here for her birthday and every year before this we have had an outstanding experience. Her salmon was overcooked and although everything was a la cart what we did receive was very disproportionate.
Experience from walking in to leaving was lacklustre.
- no hostess when we walked in - had to find a waiter who found hostess
- napkin was worn and had holes
- asked for Proseco but am sure we were served Champagne
- Bread was cold would have been mucho better it it had been warmed
- Both sides that were ordered were edible warm but not hot
- one guest plate removed before other guest was finished eating
- had to find someone to ask for salt and pepper
Given the “prestige” of this restaurant, I expected to impress but was sadly disappointed and ended up apologizing to my client.
Staff was attentive. We redeemed a travelzoo voucher here that included an amuse bouche, appetizer, entree, dessert and wine. The amuse bouche (a one bite appetizer) was made of ahi tuna and was very flavorful. We ordered a baby greens salad and lobster bisque soup for our appetizer. The salad was excellent and made with fresh strawberries and a champagne dressing. The bisque was ok, i thought it was a little too salty but my husband liked it. We both ordered the filet mignon entree served with au gratin like potato and small whole braised carrots. All items were excellently seasoned and i saved half of it for lunch the next day. It was still awesome! Dessert was a creme brulee cheesecake and a dark chocolate type dessert. Both desserts flavorful and still tasted yummy with coffee the next day. We both ordered the red wine with the meal, pinot noir. This place makes a great date night. We even arrived a little early for our reservation and took advantage of having a drink in the rotating bar. Views were amazing. Lemon drop martini was tasty, but pricey. You pay for the view. Chex mix is complementary. Don't forget to park in the valet parking area for the Westin. LA prime validates parking for 3 hours.
Waiter was not trained. Did not know the menu. Did not know how to serve professionally. We waited for 1 hour and 30 minutes between our appetizers and entrees. And we were a 5:30pm reservation. Worse experience of my life at a restaurant. I’m a regular business traveler and I’ve never seen this type of unpreparedness anywhere. Or at anytime. Food was good when it finally arrived.
The food was very bland. Definitely NOT worth the price attached to the food. The soup needed salt, the dessert was soggy for bread pudding.
The waiter did take off the soup from the tab. But when you are playing close to $200 for a meal - I expect it to be amazing. This was just NOT. The only good thing about the meal was the view. I would not go back. The waiter was nice and pleasant and it was not his fault the food tasted so unremarkable.
