la Posta
We will continue to adjust our service based upon best practices for keeping our staff and community safe; our dine-in service is served on compostable tableware until further notice, and we encourage guests to bring their favorite flatware to enhance their experience!
Please note that we serve meals for take out and dine-in.
Select from a menu that features dishes composed of locally sourced ingredients as well as house-made pastas, naturally leavened breads and pizzas from our brick oven.
Because we rely on the bounty of the Santa Cruz farming community, our menu changes frequently and features a wide array of specials. La Posta’s all-Italian wine list includes autochthonous varieties from small producers, by-the-glass and by the bottle.
La Posta adheres to the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch Program and is a certified City of Santa Cruz Green Business.

Overall, good. A bit pricey for the portion size. The staff was attentive and the food came quickly, but not too quickly, it was just the right amount of time between the appetizers and the entrees. The servers were paying attention to our beverages but not pushy.
Totally lovely in every way. I hope you keep the outside seating, at least to some extent, after you're able to seat inside again. Outside dining is really very nice, especially during the summer of course and you would be able to seat more people.
Always a great meal!!
La Posta has done a remarkable job, creating a pleasant outdoor dining room in its usual parking lot. I hope they keep the outdoor space indefinitely.
Outdoor patio was very comfortable.
We had a delicious meal here! The pastas were incredible as was the halibut! It is the kind of neighborhood restaurant you wish you had in your town. We had a lovely time and will be back.
Best carbonara and pizza ever! The waiter was excellent, the heat lamps were every where and quite warm. A real 5 star experience.
La Posta experience is always a pleasure - healthy, delicious food and outstanding service!
Excellent food and service. La Posta never disappoints!
The black cod was amazing.
Love La Posta!!! Have been getting take out and eating here for years, never been disappointed. Always delicious! Great staff!
Always delicious food. Ambience lovely - they have set up a roomy outdoor dining space that feels both safe and romantic at the same time. Outdoor heaters, nice lighting. Service is friendly, attentive and aiming to please. Accommodated all special requests for substitutions etc. I would highly recommend.
LaPostas food is always flavorful, and they have done well creating their outdoor patio.
We told the receptionist AND the hostess that we were celebrating a five year anniversary and they didn't do anything special. I asked them to. If they don't have a system in place for that, they should've said so when I mentioned it.
Otherwise, the service from our waiter was excellent.
This place is so wonderful!! We had such amazing time. We loved it, the kids loved it! We will be back!!
Love La Posta, my sweet neighborhood bistro. Delicious food, coming from a foodie. Love the new back patio, hope they keep it open. It is adorable. People are super nice and professional. Glad they survived these hard times.
We have been avoiding dining out since the pandemic began, but wanted to celebrate a birthday with a couple of friends and have always loved La Posta. They are doing a phenomenal job with safety protocols; tables are well spaced, they are using heat lamps versus any sort of plastic tent (how is sharing air in a tent really different from being indoors? Doesn't feel safe to us), everything felt impeccably clean and well managed. The food was as delicious as ever. Everything we ate (and we ate a LOT) was remarkable. And we were surprised at how reasonable the bill was, given how many dishes we ordered (SEVEN - salad, pizza, pasta, two sides, and two desserts) with a nice bottle of wine. Highly recommend you grab a jacket and go.
We dined outdoors under heaters on a very cold night. We got some blankets from our car to wrap around our legs to keep warm. The food was fantastic. We shared the bisteca and pappadelle , Both delicious. Paired with the Sangiovese. Dessert was a Pana cotta which was superb
Truly delicious - the best Italian food I've had since moving from NY months ago. Nicely curated menu - the pizzas are on point!
La Posta has done an excellent job creating a COVID19-friendly outdoor dining experience, with romantic ambiance and heat, in the rear parking lot. As usual, the food and service were very good to excellent. I would prefer they discontinue use of paper plates and plastic wine cups and offer more than two red wines by the "glass". I opted to bring my own bottle and pay corkage. Overall, a lovely experience.
Food at La Posta has always been good, I think with Covid is just challenging time all around.
Such deliciousness every time we are able to eat here. Something special. ❤️
everything was so delicious!!!
love that you still do neighborhood night.
we appreciate it!
like that we can bring our own dishware
Atmosphere impacted by Covid. The restaurant is doing what they can.
Wonderful as usual! A little chilly but expected.
I love La Posta and they’re doing such a wonderful job of creating a safe place for us to eat and delicious food !
Because of the pandemic they’re using plastic cups and bamboo plates and silverware I do recommend that you do what we did and bring your own wine glasses and silverware it makes things nicer. But love love love the experience tonight
Lovely outdoor patio, good food, excellent service.
It did get chilly may need more heat lamps. - we had a 5 pm reservation. - we know it’s difficult- maybe if they were close to the tables?
Very disappointed to have food & drink served on paper plates and plastic wine glasses. And to have to walk right by a trash can full of used plates on the way in and out. It was very dark - ambient light level was poor. Also no wine list provided- had to look in the dark at a board at the entrance.
Feel the Restaurant Week menu missed the mark on encouraging us to return for a delicious meal later.
2nd time here. I loved the outside ambiance. Wish the by the glass menu was more extensive or there was cocktails. I’ll definitely be back. Food was delish. My guest and I are also gluten free.
I have eaten here before and loved it. This time not so much. The outside patio was great! They should keep it. Waiter was not so great. Failed to mention water was bottled only - ok not too expensive. Wine was ridiculously pricey and they use plastic cups. Some how others are managing glass and real plates/ cutlery. Also poor descriptors of dishes. My main dish basically had the same salad as my salad. The others enjoyed the soup. The desserts were fabulous
The food was amazing, staff was very friendly and helpful, and COVID-19 safety protocols were spot-on. I felt very safe dining here on the pretty patio. Just remember to bring your own nice silverware and cloth napkin since disposable ones are now being used for sanitary reasons!
The outdoor dining scene was great and felt very safe, well managed and comfortable. The parking lot setting was nicely done so it really did not feel like a parking lot once seated. We brought our own silverware and napkins - wished we had brought glasses too as they were using plastic glasses for water and wine. Overall a wonderful evening out!
Food and service excellent, as always. We also dined outdoors in Pacific Grove the night before and Monterey the night after, where both restaurants provided glassware, dishes and metal utensils. Although we respect La Posta’s operational decisions during the pandemic, the totally disposable tableware was a disappointment. Flimsy plastic glasses do not do justice to nice Italian wines.
This was our first restaurant experience since covid began, so it's been almost 8 months! We felt entirely comfortable and safe. Servers are masked, tables are spaced more than 6 feet apart in a lovely outdoor setting. Following La Posta's recommendation, we brought our own glassware and cutlery to celebrate my husband's birthday. They served our delicious meal on disposable (compostable) plates. My taglioli housemade pasta with rock shrimp was perfectly cooked, light yet rich and satisfying. My husband's savory cannoli with butternut squash and ricotta and sage was sumptuous. Our prosecco and a recommended Italian red wine (Sanna) were great accompaniments, as were our starters, a generous, perfectly dressed salad of Little Gem lettuce with shaved parmesan, and fantastic arancini. For dessert, I had the refreshing and wonderful housemade coconut stratiatella ice cream, while my husband enjoyed a dark, smooth bittersweet chocolate tart ("best I've ever tasted," he said). We are so happy that La Posta is serving dinners outside. All very good, with heat lamps providing extra comfort.
Next time I'll bring my own napkin, fork and knife...plastic ones broke in my hand...
Great food amazing service. we got there at the end of the night and we were able to score the last two quarters of bread. Best bread in town.
It was the best Italian style meal I’ve had in my 4 years visiting Santa Cruz, hands down. A huge step up from what’s available in town and this is a restaurant that should be frequented and supported in COVID.
Outstanding saffron fettuccini with lamb.
Perfection! Wonderful chef, thank you!
Loved it so much had to get one to go and had it the next evening at home.
Super find! We plan to return. Thank you for a great relaxing night with fresh delicious food.
