About La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza

La Plazuela was the hotel’s original 1920s patio and it retains that sunlit Old World charm. Skylights flood the dining room with natural light and handsome carved furnishings, artisanal lighting, and our much-loved hand painted windows create a beautiful, inviting room to gather, to dine and to make memories in. The menu was crafted to showcase old favorites with New World influences and authentic New Mexican cuisine, and our award-winning wine list is exceptional. La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza is Santa Fe’s gathering place. Come dine with us!

One of Santa Fe's iconic dining spots - well prepared food served in an elegant and comfortable setting.

We thoroughly enjoyed our girl's night out dinner at La Plazuela. The ambience was fantastic - it felt like you were sitting outside on the patio of a Spanish hacienda (but nice and warm since you were inside). We couldn't decide between rellenos or tamales, so our server made it possible so we could have both! The rellenos were excellent; not too greasy and the breading was just right. The tamales and posole were delicious as well, but a little bit spicy for my taste (this was common a other New Mexican restaurants we ate at as well). I would definitely recommend La Plazuela if you are visiting Santa Fe! Very tasty and reasonably priced for a nice dinner.

My family and friends have enjoyed dining at La Plazuela. The cusine always meets our expectation and is well presented. The service is always exceptional, especialy with Stormi who has been there for 0ver 30 years. I highly recommend La Plazuela as one of the best restaurants in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

I love La Plazuela but this particular visit was not good. Our two meals were tasteless, the service was slow & not attentive and I proceeded to be sick that night & the next day. My salmon was over-cooked & dry so I think the chef was making up for old fish and I became sick because of it. I will continue to go to this restaurant, since I've been eating there since 1978. I realize this was one bad meal out of many, however, I hope the food returns to their usual standards and the wait staff learn proper service.

We had the salmon and the chicken dish. Both were excellent, although the chicken special was outstanding. I think that it is their signature dish. Wine by the glass selections were great. As always, it is a beautiful place in the heart of Santa Fe.

Reservations for New Years. Assumed it would be formal for New Years. I'm not picky but was very disappointed. Should have called to confirm it was formal dining. With that said, breakfast was good. Definitely a casual restaurant.

Located in the La Fonda hotel, this location is in the middle if all the action just off the Plaza. Open restaurant with great vibe! Good hotel bar next to it for drinks before dinner.

We arrived early for a reservation on a busy holiday weekend night. We did have a bit of a wait but the host was able to seat us early...and in a great table near the fountain. Our server Armando was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Glad to have stopped here during our two days in Santa Fe!

This will probably not be 50 characters long. But perhaps Open Table needs to detail an explanation to we simple folks as to what "Paleo Friendly" means? Does that mean the restaurant is being appropriate to the Paleo-Indian peoples descended from the Pleistocene Era? Seriously, what is "Paleo Friendly"?

We are visiting Santa Fe and reserved Christmas dinner at La Plazuela because of the reviews. We went with the tableside made guacamole, and enchiladas. So flavorful! I can not recommend La Plazuela enough. Amazing food and amazing service!

We reserved what we thought was the Christmas buffet at 5 pm on Christmas Day and were quite stunned to find out that the buffet had ended at 3. The people next to us had the same issue as well as another family coming in. The reaction of the hostess was pretty much "too bad". Obviously communication needs to be better when booking online. Once we gathered ourselves we sat down and enjoyed a very delicious meal, with wonderful service. This was just not the Christmas meal we expected.

La Plazuela is always beautifully decorated and has a hundred or so handpainted window panels from it’s earliest time in La Fonda. The staff is great, the table-side quacamole is a must. Very nice menu.

We've eaten here several times and the steaks & southwestern dishes are very good. There is a new item on the dinner menu - Atlantic cod fish. It was described by the server as being pan seared then baked in the oven to finish, but it looked & tasted like just plain boiled fish broken into chunks, with no seasoning whatsoever. Very bland and tasteless pile of chunks. Would not recommend the cod fish at all.

Birthday Dinner at the Santa Fe Winter Market - we have stayed at La Fonda and dined at La Plazuela multiple times and keep returning for the food. We have eaten most of the menu items, and have never been disappointed. The setting is a historic patio which was enclosed decades ago, but retains much of the historic charm.

Wow. What can I say? We were staying at La Fonda for two nights and during that time ate at La Plazuela twice for breakfast and once for dinner. The food is amazing and the service is just flawless. It was our anniversary and the server noted that. Extensive wine list, local food specialties, as well as more traditional fine dining entrees. We would return here any time - both to the hotel and the restaurant. But make a reservation or you might be disappointed. PS: Great live music in adjacent bar some nights.

We opted for the traditional New Mexican dishes. The service was great but the food was just average. My husband had the filet with enchilada and the steak was tough. Their tequila selections were nice so we opted for a drink instead of dessert. We love the location and the feel of this restaurant, but is just seems tired? This was not our first time dining here, but we may search out other restaurants when our travels bring us back to New Mexico.
