I had the tortilla soup, it was good poured the broth at the table, prices are higher at night but it is Sante Fe history is outstanding.
I really like the ambiance of La Plazuela. The service was excellent and the food was good as well but a bit expensive for standard New Mexican fare. However, for a hotel restaurant, it is not outrageously priced and I think the venue is beautiful.
Great staff and wonderful ambiance. You can go casual or fancy.
This was a great dining experience. Delicious food in a relaxed, refined environment. Highly recommend!
La Plazuela is everything I had read in reviews--ok food, but great ambiance! We were in Santa Fe for the first time and read that this was the place to go if you were a tourist so we decided to make dinner reservations the week before. It is beautiful and cozy and looked to be a family-friendly eatery. We started with the table side guacamole, pricy but very fresh and tasty. Being that it was Lent Friday we were dismayed to find few seafood options. We ordered the salmon and the cod, one of us decided to order the redbird chicken. The risotto with the salmon was delicious, though the salmon itself was only average. The cod was a little chewy, but the sweet potato polenta was tasty. The redbird chicken was fine, sounded much better on paper. Again, the side was the tastiest part of the dish, I could eat a plateful of the cheesy grits! The broccoli flan was strange, not quite sure about it. Since dinner was only a "meh" experience, we decided to try two of their desserts, we tried the raspberry enchiladas and the molten chocolate cake at the server's recommendation. They were delicious!!! The raspberry enchiladas are basically crepes filled with mascarpone cheese and drizzled with a raspberry glaze, but they were so delicious! The molten cake was rich and decadent, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. Overall, the service was good, the food was ok, and the desserts were amazing. There are definitely several more restaurants around town that have better food in my opinion.
What a lovely, classic spot to eat in Santa Fe! It’s still as good as ever (maybe better). Filet and enchiladas were wonderful. Alexis was a GREAT server! Thank you!
Excellent place is Santa Fe to eat and drink!
Service was so so, food just ok- ambiance was great- mostly tourists!
La Plazuela is a unique place in the beautiful La Fonda Hotel. The lunch menu is more extensive and by far more economical than the dinner menu but the dinner offerings are all very unique and should satisfy everyone's tastes. The food is fairly simply prepared but the tastes are quite complex. I had the venison loin and it was cooked a perfect medium rare and came with a very unique blueberry reduction. The margaritas here are quite good! Will definitely eat here again next time we are in Santa Fe!
i received an e-mail saying I did not keep my reservation. I did dine at La Plazuela on Sunday evening and hence the review.
Lovely decor and an intimate feel, which isn't the usual case for restaurants in hotels. The food was very good, but fell a bit short of the "wow" category. We enjoyed the overall experience.
Never disappoints. Diverse and delicious menu. Strongly recommend guacamole prepared table-side. Chile rellenos are among the best I have ever had. And,BTW, the Double-barrel Herradura Margarita is outstanding.
No nonsense service (like a diner almost). Excellent margaritas. Table side guacamole was fun. Scallop appetizer way oversalted and wrapped in bacon to boot. Excellent atmosphere.
La Plazuela serves great food. We were having dinner with friends from Denver who also loved the food. Best of all, the restaurant was full but we were able to talk to each other without straining or raising our voices. It is a "go to" place for us when we want to have a special meal.
My sister and I had three meals at this wonderful restaurant! The servers are fantastic and attentive to detail. Food is exquisite and presented beautifully. Loved our visit!!
Our fish was over cooked and the wine was not dry but very sweet.
Maybe a little overrated, but still good. Old school New Mexican ambiance vs. authentic. Great server, good margarita.
Enjoyed a delicious meal while visiting Santa Fe. Service was outstanding. Location inside atrium of La Fonda hotel is lovely.
We were vacationing in Santa Fe and staying at the La Fonda hotel. We made reservations for the first night at their restaurant. It was restaurant week and we used that menu. Food was plentiful and well presented. Our server was efficient, professional yet friendly.
Also, the lounge next door has live music most nights.
Consistently wonderful! This is the first restaurant on our list when we arrive in Santa Fe. You can get classic New Mexican cuisine, incredible steaks and fish or vegetarian dishes like cauliflower steak. The service is always excellent.
Thank you for making it a wonderful evening to remember!
The food was very good and the service was excellent. The music was low so one could have a conversation with companions without shouting.
We could have enjoyed our meal better if the restaurant hadn’t been so cold.
We enjoyed our server, Stormy, who was very attentive and engaging.
Great food. Enjoyed a nice prime rib, juicy, tasty and large. My wife had the chile relleno, she thought they were delicious with both red and green Chile. Excellent friendly service. Will definitely be back.
The waitress was in a very great hurry to get us out of there: asked for our order as soon as butt hit seat, asked again before the water even arrived, didn't offer bar drinks before dinner, was trying to take our plates before we were finished eating. All this at 7:00 PM, so the restaurant itself wasn't trying to close. I hope her date was worth it.
My wife and I came here for an anniversary dinner. Duck was incredible as was the Filet! Highly recommend. Great experience.
Love the ambiance and decor. Service was terrific. The food was so-so. We had the fajitas and they were bland. No seasoning. The shrimp was watery tasting and mushy. However, the tortilla soup was a real treat. We just go on special occasions, but other than that, we probably wouldn't recommend it for the food alone.
Yummy! Good food and good service.
Well prepared and inventive food in a classic continental style. Menu is varied and seating by the fountain provided a lovely experience for me and my dinner companion!
Wonderful food, good service, great ambience. Would recommend to friends.
One of my favorite spots in Santa Fe....great downtown location, excellent food and service!
Service was attentive but not obtrusive, great food and timed perfectly. Felt welcomed and not rushed.
Great room and service
Birthday-we had a wonderful evening and the food and service were both excellent!
My favorite Nice restaurant in Santa Fe
We enjoy the food and the ambiance.
What a fabulous prime rib on a Friday night in Santa Fe. Roasted to perfection and seasoned just out of this world. Took half of it home and enjoyed it the next AM with eggs. Yummy!
The gluten free options were very limited, but for those of you who are celiac, if you ask enough questions, you should be okay. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about what elements of the dishes had gluten and we were able to substitute for gluten-free options. I will say that this is the first time I wasn't able to order fajitas because of gluten.
The biggest negative was the stingy pour of whiskey. It was indeed the smallest pour I think my husband has ever encountered... no contest. The waiter did say that this wasn't a mistake...that it was the standard amount. Stay away from ordering a whiskey neat!
Overall, it was a good experience. We love the ambiance and atmosphere at La Fonda and will go back just for that reason.
This restaurant has a great ambiance and very good food.
La Plazuela in La Fonda hotel is one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Fe. Lovely ambience and delicious food. Excellent service, too.
