Pleasant waitstaff and delicious food
This is NOT fine dining. The hostess was not attentive or friendly. It took our server quite some time to come to our table and she only checked on us once or twice. The food: do not order the Caesar salad unless you like stale croutons, yesterday’s lettuce and a dressing that has very little resemblance to Caesar dressing. I ordered the salmon. Please do not make the same mistake. Properly frozen and thawed salmon is never as good as a freshly caught fish, but it is edible. The thicker center part of my fish seemed to be a bit freezer burned or off in some other way. Maybe there was a problem with the freezer and it broke down and everything in it thawed and then it got fixed and all of the thawed stuff got refrozen. The plate came with three circles of some ill-defined green stuff that was probably supposed to be pesto remoulade. It didn't help. On the positive side, the dish came with asparagus that were very well cooked and quite tasty. Also tasty was the creamy polenta. My wife ordered chicken fajitas. They were fine. Not fine as in Fine Dining, but they were not offensive. Also: props for a fine chardonnay and well-made margaritas.
This place is so pretty. My dinner was a vegan masterpiece! The drink menu was interesting. It was a lovely evening.
One of the best restaurants in. Santa fe. Everything was terrific try the stuffed peppers and heirloom tomato appetizer very fast and attentive service. Ask for the fireplace room, it’s quiet and has better ambiance’s
Very good dinner
This was my favorite restaurant during my recent long weekend visit in Santa Fe. Great Margaritas and food. Hearty choices and just right portions. Even room for dessert. The flan had a great texture and flavor.
When our food arrived, both of our dishes were cold so we had to send them back to the kitchen. The second time around the dishes were better, although not real hot.
My husband had the salmon plate and he was very happy with it. I had the chicken breast plate and unfortunately the chicken was well done and dry.
We both felt the portions were too small for the amount of money they charge.
The waiter was great though, we felt that he did a great job accommodating us.
We have been dinning at the La Fonda restaurant for over 50 years and they just keep getting better!
Outstanding late dinner in lovely courtyard patio, May 2021: side asparagus hot and tender and fresh; salmon bursting. We also enjoyed a wonderful tortilla soup-salad-enchiladas lunch, a day+ later. Unpretentious, attentive staff. Marvelous striped cotton (!) napkins, too. We’d be here a lot if we lived here; Santa Fe should be proud.
Our table ordered a variety of dishes, from soup, salad, and full dinner enchiladas. All of it was fabulous, as was the service.
Great dinner. Salmon and pappardelle. Chicken tortilla soup and caprese. All excellent.
We ate a memorable dinner here about 4 years ago and decided to repeat since we were staying in the hotel. Once again it exceeded our expectations. The Enchiladas y Filet is a unique approach to a traditional southwestern dish. The filet was delectable. Expert service is a trademark.
Ate breakfast later in the week and the Huevos Rancheros were the absolute best ever. And we've had them hundreds of times.
Abbreviated covid menu was a disappointment. Very limited offerings and nothing close to the menu we researched online before making our reservation. Was tempted to leave and go somewhere else. Food was good but not what we were expecting. Bar was closed and drink offerings were limited as well. Wouldn't recommend until they're back to full offerings.
We love the room and generally are pleased with the food. Our waiter was excellent.
It took too long to get our drinks.
However, my rellanos came with the chili on the top and not on the side as I as I ordered. So,my partner was half finished his meal before I got mine.
The sopapillas are not good at all.
But we will be back,I'm sure. !
Sopapillas to die for! Excellent southwest fare and chili!
The menu has definitely shrunk but the quality of food was good as always. Ser vice is tops!
Andrew was our waiter and he has waited on my party before. He is a rare gem in customer service. Attentive without being instrusive. He took great effort to take a flattering picture of me and my dining companion. I had the rainbow trout and it was fantastic and my companion loved the salmon.
Spring 2021 menu is fairly limited, and prices are high. Expensive, and small, margaritas.
My husband’s dinner was overdone and unappetizing.
Lovely for a birthday dinner for the two of us. We started with a cocktail at La Fiesta Lounge. So good to be able to do this again.
Visiting town with a friend. Absolutely the perfect place to enjoy a fabulous, yet casual meal after a long day of walking & shopping
Always one of the prettiest dining rooms in Santa Fe! The filet enchiladas were delicious, and the service very pleasant, interesting wine list
It was great to get out to eat, especially at La Fonda. La Plazuela was an excellent setting, felt very open and safe. Great ambiance and food, very good service.
My husband and I celebrated our40th wedding anniversary here. Everything came together perfectly, including a surprise bottle of Champagne ordered over the phone by our children. Karen Severson, our hostess, was just phenomenal. Our waiter, Angel was great, too.
We love to eat here for our anniversaries and every experience here is wonderful! The staff is always helpful and nice.
We had to eat at 4:30 because the restaurant was fully booked after that time so we skipped lunch and it was totally worth it. The chips were fresh and crispy and the salsa and guacamole were terrific. We order fillet mignon with cheese enchiladas and chili rellenos. The margaritas were good as well. The dining room was open with tasteful decor. We hope to return soon only book in advance so we can eat later.
We went early and it was quiet. Good food. Lovely wait people.
We were seated outside of the true Plaza because of social distancing requirements, but fortunately not in the main lobby corridor where others had to be seated. Service was efficient. Food was very enjoyable. Great spot to people watch.
Overall everything was mediocre. The steak enchiladas didn’t really come together as a cohesive dish. They came with a warm dessert that oddly came out at the same time as the meal. The trout was decent but nothing special. The margaritas were alright but again nothing special for $15-$16 each. The highlight was the green chilli queso which was very tasty. The restaurant is in a very nice setting in a courtyard with a fountain.
Bison tacos were amazing and so was the sopa! However, the service from both the hostess and the waitress (Carolina) were lackluster.
Carolina was flat, despite my upbeat attitude; perhaps because she didn't see me as a big ticket as I dined solo. But she was more accommodating to other tables of bigger parties. Her bias was clear, and professional wait staff shouldn't behave that way.
They missed big time on one entre and wine was wrong
So it was one of those embarrassing can we take money off bill deals
Probably struggling during Covid
Very disappointed in service and food. Enchiladas in particular had been held so long bottom required strong use of knife to cut — very tough tortilla. I should have sent them back but service was so slow it was not really an option. Dish was supposed to have tenderloin and they were out; substituted chicken but no discount. $19 margaritas like the highlight; tasty but overpriced. COVID distancing means restaurant at max 50% capacity. Meanwhile on a Sunday half the tables empty yet service was very spotty. Asked for extra salsa and ended up with $8 fee. So, on balance, I’ll never return. Better options within a few hundred feet.
The bison short reb tacos were delicious. The ceasar salad was big enough for two. The service was outstanding. The recipes were good, just not exceptional. We are glad we are here.
Lights were too bright and the food was good but not excellent. Service was very good, however.
We had a wonderful meal here last June and looked forward to our return visit. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. We had to send a drink back. The menu was very unoriginal. Although my trout was very good, the filet served over basically an enchilada meal was not great. Service was average at best. Everyone blames Covid for these days for mediocracy, but Geronimo seems to be immune. Definitely better places to have a good meal in the plaza area. Too bad, because the setting is so nice.
Food just ok. Service terrible.
The food and service were excellent. La Plazuela is one of our go to restaurants in Santa Fe.
This was our first dinner out in a year, and it was so perfect. Great service, great food, and all of the CDC guidelines adhered to which made us feel relaxed and safe. Thank you for a great experience.
Fantastic. Service, food, environment, cleanliness. It’s always a pleasure.
Easter dinner at La Plazuela was lovely. While the restaurant does still have an abbreviated menu due to Covid restrictions, there is a good selection and the food was delicious. The ambiance is always great here.
Our server was excellent, service was timely, and we were able to linger over after-dinner coffee without feeling rushed.
My only suggestion to make the ambiance even better would be for the restaurant to have a minimal dress code. There were people there who looked like they just came in from playing baseball or cleaning the garage. That kind of slovenly, unkempt dressing is way out of place in an upscale place like La Fonda’s premier restaurant. It made me uncomfortable. They look like they should have gone to McDonalds. Please require some level of nice clothing. Business casual. Santa Fe Western. No ripped, dirty clothing. No baseball caps. No grubby t-shirts. I guess I’ve made my point! Keep it classy!
