La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
We had a 6:30 reservation and upon arrival were told we would have to wait 20 minutes for a table. This was disappointing since we had made the reservation ahead of time. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes in total. The server was reserved but friendly. We ordered the Waygu appetizer, Buffalo tenderloin and tortilla soup. All were fabulous! It was a bit pricey overall, but we were on our anniversary so it was a special occasion. Our server brought us complimentary sorbet for our anniversary which was a nice surprise. We would go back next time in Santa Fe.
Lovely setting in the lobby of La Fonda Hotel. The food was good —not outstanding like other restaurants in Santa Fe. The service was very slow even though we arrived earlier when the restaurant was half occupied. Our wait person was very friendly and when I joked with him that I was about to go in the kitchen and volunteer to help, our entrees arrived pronto. Mine was not very warm as if it had been plated some time before he retrieved it. Just sayin’...
Average restaurant experience. Food was ok but not great and a bit pricey. Server was slow and less than friendly. There are much better options in Santa Fe. I won't eat at La Fonda again.
Top-notch in service and quality! We had an excellent time celebrating my husband's 45th birthday with la Plazuela. So much fun to return after all these years, and bring my own family to the table.
We always have a consistent experience at La Plazuela, good service and delicious food.
Our dinner at La Plazuela was everything we hoped it would be. The dining room was beautifully decorated with a wonderful Santa Fe vibe. We were seated right next to the center fountain. Nice! The food was excellent and the service was attentive. The hotel had a relaxed bustling feel to it. It was also fun to window shop before our meal. Highly recommended! We’ll be back!
Fun, upbeat experience after following a day of interminable traveling. We chose light fare... really hit the spot! Colorful Mexican restaurant!
Had a great evening and outstanding server. Food was good although rather pricy for the quantity. Drinks very expensive and margaritas (which were excellent) 50% higher in price than in the neighboring bar which was steps away and served both the bar and restaurant.
Beautiful place,excellent food!!thanks again
Food, location and ambiance were all very good, but Gaspar made the evening a great one. He went out of his way to work with my children, even finding non-menu small tortillas to substitute for sweet potato tortillas. He guided us all through the menu to excellent choices - was never rushing, but always ready. Ask for him when you!
Ambiance was amazing and our server was super friendly and professional, just didn’t come to check on us very often and we needed drink refills. The food was great, but portions were small and prices were a little high IMO. That’s why we gave it 3 stars.
Great restaurant. Great food. Receptionist taken with herself and feelings of self importance. Once past the door, everything was wonderful.
La Plazuela provides a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a good meal.
Whether you are a local looking for a night out or you want to give someone
visiting our beautiful city a sample of tasty cuisine, La Plazuela will not disappoint.
Just your average Mexican restaurant
Wonderful place to sit and enjoy the food and drinks and watch all the tourists
Over the years we make a point of eating here when we visit Sante Fe, but have not been for a while. The red chile was tasteless but for salt!. Chile rellanos were soggy on the outside, cold cheese on the inside. Sooooo heartbroken that the food was so disappointing. Our favorite is no longer. The service was exceptional though.
Very nice place with great service from Francisco.
Birthday celebration while in Santa Fe great food, service was great! Love the La Fonda Hotel, many happy times there!
La Plazuela never disappoints. The food and service was terrific. The ambiance is truly old style authentic New Mexico which always thrills out-of-town guests. Good job.
We had the table side guacamole and it was delicious. Cocktails were very tasty and the Enchiladas al Norte were so good and the portions were very generous. Margie took great care of us and answered any questions. Our meals were everything we could have wanted.
A little disappointing, though we normally enjoy the meals at La Plazuela. Our food was not hot, only warm, cheese enchiladas were missing cheese inside, asked for extra chile, but got same amount. But the filet was tasty.
After a long day's drive, we wanted a early evening. Be sure to reserve a table as it is a very sought after restaurant in the Plaza area. We had the buffalo and the tortilla soup and chili relleno. The buffalo and tortilla soup were excellent, chili relleno was so so. Would go again and try other dishes.
Loved La Plazuela at La Fonda! My husband and I were focusing on healthy food and the fajitas for two met the mark!
Has been one of my places for food for the last 30 years going to Santa Fe
Had a great time and enjoyed our first taste of New Mexican food. Excellent service. Loved the table side guac!
Great food and great ambiance. This is a well known treasure and is worth planning ahead for reservations
It was ok, I expected more in the ambience dept. the fountain didn’t even reach a foot high, kind of disappointing. The $22.00 margaritas were served in daiquiri glasses. The black beans were just ok.
Looked up menu on line and when we got to restaurant found none of the entrees on the menu. Food was mediocre and so was the service. We belong to the Birthday club and we probably won’t go back
Thanks for the opportunity. From the moment we sat down (table ready immediately) and the waiter (Armando) wished us Happy Anniversary (our 29th) we knew we made the right choice. Good staff always makes or breaks the evening or event and La Plazuela shined! Armando was patient and helped us with the dishes we were interested in and recommended drinks. We started with the caesar and a delicious and refreshing watermelon salad with creamed goat cheese a drizzle of balsamic and arugula. these we shared as well as the shrimp fajitas for one which easily could have served three. A completary flan which was beautiful and exceptional. Not our first rodeo so we were careful to pick this restaurant where we have been many times! looking forward to our next dinner there! ETS
Attended here with my family while we were on vacation in Santa Fe. Enjoyed our time there! Food was excellent, waiter was prompt and kind. Place was beautiful, surprisingly quieter than one would expect and unique.
Mediocre, miserable and muddled.
Drinks took 25 minutes to arrive... We were told that the Special Of The Day (described as “absolutely the best”) was available and then moments later it was not available.
Bread arrived unceremoniously; as did the drinks and the food. NO apology for the lateness of the drinks; to be fair someone (maybe a/the manager) did come up to our table as he had noticed that we were still waiting and asked us what we had ordered (presumably we had a table number/my name??) - BUT it still took a while for them to arrive. Any DECENT restaurant would have given the drinks to us gratis because of the delay... but not here.
Food = lukewarm; soggy, overcooked vegetables; poorly seasoned; fish tacos truly repellent - supermarket bought cheap tacos: fish I’d say out of a can - INSIPID.
We told the front of house as we left that we were deeply disappointed by the dinner. She said we could speak to a manager; we said yes, and then nothing happened.
Our waiter was called Angel which turned out not to be a good omen; in truth, the whole experience was awful; oh, my wife did like the painted glass partitions.
Loved the location and especially the ambience of the hotel. Food was great and service was extraordinary. If you’re in Santa Fe and want a special dining experience, by all means go to La Fonda. We’ll go again next time in Santa Fe!
Great service, food was good and value was good.
Great place for all occasion
Food is way to expensive for what it is... Not worth the prices at all.
Outstanding guacamole made fresh table side! Entrees were very good. Service was great. Dining room is beautiful. Not 5 star, but a very good choice.
La Plazuela had wonderful food and excellent service at reasonable prices. My husband had the fajitas and I had the mahi-mahi. Both were perfectly prepared.
The food was amazing and the service outstanding!
Excellent service. Tasty meal choices and desserts!
The Prime Rib was prepared perfectly and the service was great!
