La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
Excellent service by Angel. Excellent food and ambiance! We ate dinner there three times last week. It’s always a winner! See you in October when we return to Santa Fe.
Not impressed with the food and the service was okay. The server who made the guacamole at table side did an excellent job. I expected so much more from reading the reviews
Been here several times - the food is always very good. Don't miss the guacamole preparation at your table! So delicious! We also had the quail breast tacos which were also excellent. One of us had the 1855 sirloin as a main (perfectly cooked) and the other had the filet y enchiladas with Christmas Chile. Excellent! Definitely will go back!
Seated well after reservation
One hour until served food
Would have done better to eat at a corner diner
Lesson- maybe don't ever order fish tacos anywhere in Santa Fe but definitely not here- inedible days old fish. Everything else was passable but very expensive, probably twice what you might pay for the same at a Tex-Mex.
It was fabulous as always.
Our dining experience was great. The server, Gaspar, was exceptional explaining dishes, spiciness, and in his presentation. My wife and I were on a date and it was a fabulous dining experience.
Very cool setting, right off the plaza in Santa Fe. Overpriced for the quality, food was average. We arrived about 30 minutes early. The host said they would text us when our table was ready. Ten minutes after our scheduled reservation time, still no text. Went back to host stand and our table was ready, but still no text.
It was great as always
Our meal was excellent. The atmosphere is very airy and open, similar to an al fresco experience with the high glass ceiling, the fountain and the trees. The wait staff was very warm and personable - our waiter was Stormie who is like an old friend you haven’t seen in a long time. The food was excellent. My wife had the prime rib and I had the shrimp pasta. Both were very well prepared, flavorful and well presented. We’ll return soon for another memorable meal.
La Plazuela at La Fonda continues to be one of the very best restaurants in Santa Fe. The food is well prepared and always delicious. The chile is tangy and tasty but not overly hot, which is refreshing considering the very hot chile currently being served by other restaurants. The sopaipillas are delicious and very tender. The service by the wait staff is excellent. One negative was that we were told the restaurant was full when we arrived, and although we had a reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. (5 other parties who arrived after us were seated before us, though no one left the restaurant during that time period.) The wonderful food trumps the wait, so we definitely will be back.
Excellent server. The pork shank and grits were out of this world. Excellent atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Had a business dinner at La Plazuela on Wednesday night, we ordered the guacamole that is made to order with your choice of spice level and toppings, it was outstanding, also ordered the special of the day that was cod with veggies and local new-Mexican specialties. Food was excellent and ambiance quiet enough to be able to discuss about the business topics in a relaxed and inviting environment, wines are a bit high on prices, but overall experience was very good and would sincerely recommend it.
Among the best 10 restaurants we have visited in the last several years. Enjoyable ambiance, great service, delicious food, excellent mescal cocktail. Would be a regular for us - if we didn't live on the other side of the United States. Far better than the so called 5 star restaurants in the Washington DC area.
Pork shank was fantastic!
The food at La Plazuela is consistently good and the surroundings make for a true Santa Fe experience.
We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at La Plazuela. We were not disappointed. The staff is attentive but never hovers. The food was fabulous and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is quintessential Santa Fe.
Excellent dining experience in Santa Fe. The maitre d was friendly & personable. He seated us in a wonderful spot near the fountain. The menu selections were varied and everything was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant as a relaxing spot after a day of touring the historic district.
Excellent from start to finish! Table side guacamole is a must...yum!
What a wonderful atmosphere for a romantic dinner! We are on our honeymoon and they gave us a romantic spot for dinner and a free dessert!
Food was ok but not as good as previous visits and service was slow.
Armando was a great server catering to our every need. The quail taco appetizer in sweet potato shell had some of the most tender quail I have ever eaten. The shrimp fajitas were cooked perfectly. And the sopapillos with honey were out of this world!
Such a beautiful place. And the free Birthday entree was nice
The best thing about going to a great restaurant is asking the waiters for recommendations. That was the case here. Angel was able to guide me through both the food and beverage menu. I’m often torn when the selections are all delicious, so having a bit of advice from those in the know is a big help! Perfect meal, delicious beverage and excellent service!
The service was awful - lengthy waits, disappearing server, wrong food, cold soup, wrong check, forgot to deduct soup from bill. The food was tasty but the sirloin was tough for a $31 steak. Good margarita
The steaks had no flavor and were tough. This should not be a five star restaurant. The food in the lounge is much better.
The service was attentive yet not consistent. I think they fit us in to a quiet table and it threw off the wait staff. 3 of our party of four had great food, one had cold food.
The staff made us feel unwelcome. This is a tourist place and being judged by your color is not a pleasant experience. The funny thing is majority of the staff is brown yet they were very quick to judge their own color this includes the manager.
This iconic restaurant has excellent food, service and is one of the most attractive venues in Santa Fe for a restaurant. It basically features New Mexican food.
Four of us had dinner at La Plazuela during a recent vacation in Santa Fe. We did have to wait about 20 minutes after our reservation time. Upon arriving, the hostess offered us the table by the entryway, which we declined and said we'd rather wait. We were served by Stormy; she is an exceptional server and very personable. When we asked questions, she knew the answers and was able to accurately describe each entree. We each ordered something different and we all enjoyed our meals. The food was ample; three of us could not finish our meals. The flan for dessert was light and just enough afterward. The ambiance was pleasant and though crowded, the noise level was acceptable. Would definitely dine here again. On a side note, we also enjoyed cocktails in the Bell Tower at La Fonda. The sunset was gorgeous: not to be missed.
Go early and visit the shops. Lovely environment. Excellent service!
Lovely room. My meal was very good but my companion found his chicken a bit chewy and tasteless.
I dined here with my college aged daughter on Tuesday (5/14) night when visiting Santa Fe. We live in Scottsdale, Arizona and enjoy eating out on a regular basis. I ordered the Pork Shank and it was probably one of the best entrees I have had in a very long time. It was PERFECTLY prepared. The grits were delicious and the spinach and onions were also very good. Just a perfectly executed dish. It would be a dish I would drive 7 hours to have again. Our waiter, Armando, was also very good. We will be back the next time we are in Santa Fe. Thank you!!
This was our first visit to La Plazuela and we really enjoyed it. Our meals were excellent. Hope to visit the next time we’re in Santa Fe.
We wanted attentive service, quiet enough for conversation, and a menu offering the flavors and wines of the southwest. Delivered on all counts.
The steak is one of the best Ive ever had, service is professional. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to have a great dinner and relaxed time.
Ambiente romantico, buon cibo, prezzi un po’ cari, sevizio ottimo
We always love going to La Plazuela. Love for out of town company to experience the beautiful room and the food is always good and beautifully served.
Lots of fun. Tableside guacamole and margaritas were excellent. The food was really delicious.
