Very disappointing dinner. Went here for a birthday dinner. Went to the location at the El Conquistador. The room has a terrible ambiance. Leather chairs are worn down and fraying. Bad lighting, very dark. No candles on tables and when we asked for one we got a rinky battery operated one that barely threw any light. No busboys, one waiter for entire room and the woman who I assume was the hostess took our order. They were both nice and helpful but it felt a bit like amateur hour. Didn't have the bottle of wine we wanted to order. The food itself was decent but the atmosphere killed it for me. Didn't enjoy the bill when it came, hate to pay a premium price for a below average dinner. This place needs a top to bottom facelift.
The first thing you notice about this restaurant in the El San Juan Resort & Casino is the beautiful ambiance. The next thing that catches your attention is the fine service and staff. And lastly, the food is more than memorable.
We started with wonderful fresh bread with three delicious butters and followed with perfectly prepared fried calamari with a spicy read sauce.
I ordered the Ossobucco which was well-portioned, prepared perfectly and beyond delicious.
My daughter ordered the chef special of seafood risotto which was creamy and perfectly seasoned.
Our waiter knowing it was my daughter's 21st birthday week, brought out her dessert, creme brule, with a candle and on the house.
The entire experience was five star and we cannot wait to go back to eat there again.
Greeted by the host , gave us a nice table , the captain offer the specials and a special wine from italy . We other the day pasta special , fresh fish and dessert . A nice Chianti wine . Services was excellent , food was great !
The food was subpar for the price and the service . The pasta dish could of been made in my kitchen at home in 5 minutes !
Better options in the hotel.
La Piccola Fontana is a lovely restaurant to celebrate! We were treated with excellent service, suggestions, entrée explanation and no details left out! Francisco is THE BEST! He remembered us from previous times we've dined there! His warm welcome and genuine smile were unexpected and delightful!
Before we left, the Manager Luis Roig stopped at our table to welcome us back to San Juan. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND La Piccola Fontana!
Horrible food, horrible service. Hilton needs to reconsider its selection of resturaunts as this one is giving their property a bad name.
The food was outstanding; how we had a group of eight and it was impossible to communicate with anyone other than the person on your side. The stAff was accommodating and moved is, but the noise was crazy loud. Do not go here if you are a group larger than four.
We did not know what to expect from an Italian restaurant based in a touristy hotel in San Juan. La Picola Fontana exceeded expecations. Our kids (aged 8-10) were very pleased with their food including a delicious cheese ravioli and Porcini Risotto. My wife and I also very much enjoyed our meal and thought the service to be polite, prompt, and friendly. To be sure, this is not the greatest Italian food that you will ever eat, but the restaurant does operate at a fairly high level.
Food was really good. Quiet time of the night. Service was good too.
Decor is beautifully arranged, the chandeliers are spectacular and the furniture is comfortable and elegant. The service is exquisite, they are very attentive in all 4 courses. I was expecting more from their main course. I ordered their star course as it is indicated in their menu, and I was soooooooo not impressed by it. It was lobster risotto on a champagne sauce and it was just plain BLAH! on taste, no taste AT ALL, I even had to add some pepper and salt to it to even have some flavor in my paled to digest. Their broccoli also extremely under seasoned. Tiramisu was ok, I've had better indeed. Is a nice ambiance but not exquisite food as you expect coming from a restaurant that is located at one of Puerto Rico must popular hotels.
