Open for both lunch and dinner, La Piazza Dario Ristorante specializes in Italian cuisine. Its authentic menu includes traditional recipes from Italy. For lunch, you can enjoy an entrée that includes pasta and meat such as veal, grilled salmon or lasagna along with a side dish. And during the dinner hour, more selections are offered with larger portions. An extensive wine list from around the world is also offered at La Piazza Dario Ristorante. Consider completing your meal with a tasty dessert such as tiramisu.
Offering a fine-dining experience of Italian fare, La Piazza Dario Ristorante provides a stylish dining space with dark wood furnishings and soft, ultra-chic lighting. Large parties and celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions are also welcome here.
The food is always good, although we think the portions are getting on the small side. Great ambiance and service.
It was many years since I'd been here and I was concerned that it might be a bit dated. But the food and service were as good or better than I remember them. We had the freshest Caprese salad I have had in this country and the duck was perfectly cooked.
The food quantity on the main dishes was light considering the high prices for this restaurant. I got the elk, which was good, but was only given 5 small pieces of meat that had to be less than 5 ounces in total. Service was very slow. Wine pouring poorly managed.
Darios always has very good food, excellent service and lovely old-fashioned ambiance.
It is perfect for a business lunch as you can hear one another speak.
There is ample free parking and the location at the Italian Cultural Centre is central to everything.
Italian food done well! Pricey and small portions but good food. Always good for a special dinner night out or treat. Happy stomachs.
First and last visit. Between 4 guests our bill was over $200. At best some of the dishes were satifactory. One of us had ordered the tenderloin, wasnt much larger than a toonie. Another dish was the clam pasta. After spending 10 minutes finding and shucking all the clams, found out it just tasted like salt. When the waitress returned to find nearly a full plate of pasta, she didnt ask whether the meal was good or not.
We love this restaurant. It is elegant without being over the top, comfortable and always made to feel welcome by Lydia. The food is good albeit smaller portions but that is everywhere. great parking and easy to get to even by skytrain.
Always enjoy dinner at the Dario. Highly recommend it.
Dario's is a wonderful place to eat with the family although I would certainly not restrict myself to family dining. The menu offers something for everyone. The food is prepared beautifully and is absolutely delicious. They are most accommodating to allergies as well. The service is excellent. Desserts are as mouthwatering as the main course. I would highly recommend Dario's. You will not be disappointed.
It was our first time at the restaurant and we were there for a friend's birthday. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was good but the service was awful, not at all welcoming. We found our server rude and at one point had to tell her there was no need to be so aggressive with us. Unfortunately the server's attitude impacted on what was to be a fun evening.
Finally, I got to try this quintessential Italian dining experience! The antipasto platter and salmon mousse were wonderful as starters, and each of the four of us were very happy with our mains: osso buco, seafood linguine, halibut and rack of lamb. Service is old-world professional, which is rare and much appreciated. Nothing stuffy about it, but they know what they are doing, down to not bringing us the bill until we signaled we were ready for it. A lovely evening, and I'll be back!
La Piazza doesn't disappoint , a little bit more than the keg to dine however well worth the extra.
Service is exceptional and food is amazing.
The mussels were good, fresh and generous portion.
The medallion veals was in such a small portion and so thin slices that I still felt hungry afterward.
My friend's seafood linguine was salty and the seafood was plain and was in frugal portion size.
When my dining partner and I arrived, we were greeted in a non-friendly manner. When they brought us to our table, it was in the oddest-place possible, sandwiched between the walkway and another small table. It was very awkward. I asked to switch and the hostess told me that all the other tables were booked. I kindly reminded her that I had made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and had requested a window table. She then said she would check and see if another table was available. A minute or two later, she moved us to another table. We ordered after looking over the menu, and was brought some bread. As the meals were taking a long time to come, I asked for some more bread after we had finished our tiny basket (which contained 4 small slices of baguette bread). I was told that additional bread was not complimentary, and would be charged at a rate of $2 per person. I have always enjoyed dining out, and have dined at fine restaurants ever since I was young. I have never been informed that additional bread is extra. And at $2 per person?! For 4 measly slices? No way. Already, we were so disappointed in this restaurant. I couldn't even imagine it getting worse, but I was wrong. When our entrees arrived, we were shocked to see how small the portions were. We got the salmon dish, and a rack of lamb. The thickness of the lamb was ridiculous. My lamb was probably about 0.5 cm thick. Normally, it is about 3-4 cm thick. Needless to say, it was not good. The salmon was equally ridiculous and was also comprised of thin, measly slices. The food quality was terrible. After the waitress took our plates away, she asked if we wanted dessert. I said I would take a look at the menu, willing to give dessert a chance. 15 minutes later, she had still not brought the dessert menu. At that point, I just asked for the cheque and we left as soon as we could. Waste of time. POOR service, BAD food, EXPENSIVE for what you get. NEVER going back there.
In these days of $200 meals that leave you half-starved and strive to be more casual than classy, La Piazza Dario takes us back to the days where people went to dinner in jackets and jewels, not Lululemon. The décor is beautiful, the food is delicious and (call me old school but ...) the staff know you're there to be served discretely, not to cajole or flirt with the server. We make gourmet meals at home so when we dine out, we want to be impressed by flavour and substance, not by the fact that the entire meal is stacked into a six-inch tower in the centre of a 12-inch dinner plate. This is fine dining in an elegant space without the arrogance of charging $50 for appetizer-sized sculptures. One of the last classy restaurants left in Vancouver.
La Piazza Dario is my favourite place to bring friends for lunch. There is something on the menu for almost everyone. The food is carefully prepared and always tasty. We can always have great conversations because the music enhances, not interferes. Of course, I'll be back.
My friend and I go to La Pazza Dario regularly because we like the home cooked
Italian food there. One question we have is why there isn't a discount on a liter of house red wine. One half liter is $24, one liter is $48. A few dollars discount would have been nice !
I often forget about this restaurant since it's off my beaten path. Have met colleagues for business lunch and dinner several times and the food is always delicious. Service is also very good and discreet given intense business conversations going on.
I recommend this restaurant.
Dining at La Piazza Dario is always a treat. It's been a favourite for years. Service is always friendly and attentive but with courteous recognition of what's going on at the table. Food is superb.
I found that dining at Dario's has always been my favorite Italian Resturnt to go and eat. The atmosepher is delightful.
Perhaps it was because it was New Year's Eve, however, the staff seemed a little rushed and disorganized. The food was excellent. I will give this restaurant another try, but was hoping for a bit of a slower paced meal with my husband.
Always have had a good dining experience but felt our tues dec 29 th was below standards. The
lamb loin "special" was "chewy" and the pasta dishes were not up to their usual standards.
We enjoyed our recent meal here, and our party had both pasta and meat dishes. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Not the trendiest place, but it had an elegant 'old school' feel to it. We'd happily return.
We went as a group but two of our party were there first and did not get their drink order in a timely fashion (over 15 minutes) and they were only one of two tables occupied at that time.
Later it was apparent (gifts and cards) that it was my birthday and the waiter pressured me to have some cake. I said no several times, but finally relented thinking he was being courteous regarding my birthday. To my chagrin I was charged for the cake.
On top of the haphazard service we were charged a 17% gratuity on top of the meal charges which in retrospect the staff did not deserve. We were there before the dinner rush and there were several servers around and there was no discernible reason for the poor service.
All of the people at my table were very disappointed and we do not see a return to this restaurant.
Our food was great (as always). Our waiter on this night seemed surly and uninterested.
We will be back (dine here 3-5 times a year).
You are welcomed to a beautiful room containing Italian statues and amazing lighting by a charming waitress who seats your party who brings bread and balsamic oil. You relax as you
decide on your choices. The house red proves to be more than adequate. We are soon digging into pasta and veal dishes. Be sure to save room for desserts---beyond delightful. We were happy with the whole evening and walked across to il museo to see Lilian Broca art show. A night to remember. Thank you Dario!
Good food but expensive for what you get.
Just a note to let your server know if you need separate bills as the bill takes longer to arrive if they have to separate the charges later
Wonderful food, noisy at lunchtime the only real complaint was over and hour wait for our food but I will go again
I always drove by this restaurant wondering what the place was like, and we finally decided to try it one day. Glad we did! I ordered the cannelloni, my husband ordered their seafood pasta, and both were exceptional! Very impressed by the food, very friendly service, and we would definitely return!
La Piazza Dario is a favourite place to dine. It's authentically Italian with excellent menu options and creative specials that capitalize on seasonal offerings. Service is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, with just the right attention paid to when to check in at your table and when to let conversation flow. We always enjoy La Piazza Dario.
The food was really tasty, service was very good, hosts were very friendly. My husband ordered muscles , and despite the fact that I hate sea food, I was tempted to try it, and I tried it for the first time, surprisingly, I loved it. Definitely will go again.
Truly a gorgeous menu and wine list. Lots of repeat guests due to the quality and consistency!
You can pay more for Italian food in Vancouver, but it won't likely be better than Dario's. Service is prompt and friendly. The menu sticks close to the classics, and prices are like what was common in Vancouver a decade ago.
Although the meals were as enjoyable as anticipated, after dining at Dario Ristorante for over 30 years we were shocked at the poor level of service.
Based on past history and the enjoyable cuisine, we introduced some friends to this restaurant in the hopes they would enjoy it as much as we have over the years.
We had three different waiters over the evening and whatever was discussed with one waiter relative to food prep and choice was not entirely relayed to the next.
To get coffee and refills we had to watch for a waiter then try to grab one on the way by. Once the coffee order was placed, on each occasion we had to further mention the request at least three times before the coffee arrived.
Once our dinner was completed, we had to approach management to get our bills printed which arrived correct with one exception.
Management suggested that a busy evening contributed to our displeasure, however our party was one of the first seated in a relatively empty restaurant and we were advised by one waiter that he was surprised it wasn't busier.
Wine prices are fair but not good. Markup was almost 150%.
Even though our group was disappointed, we will return, although it may not be soon.
Been here many times before but this time I was disappointed. My girlfriend and I ordered soup followed by appies. The portions were small and the calamari on a small plate that barely covered the bottom. Soup was highlight for me this time.
We drive for close to an hour to dine here. We love the tasty, attractively presented dishes. We never miss the antipasto plate: so delicious!
I didn't ask whether they have air conditioning. It was a little warm there.
In celebrating the retirement of a colleague, we went out for dinner to this restaurant as it was one of his favourites. The decor was lovely and the seating arrangement enabled us to visit together however, the service was subpar. It was a very hot evening and water was served infrequently and it was warm. After ordering, we waited over an hour for the entree. One of the members of our party had frequented this restaurant many times with her family and was shocked by the lack of service for this event. Eventually she went and asked when we could expect our meal as we'd been waiting a significant amount of time. As I was the coordinator of the event, I felt very dissatisfied with the service and because we were a group, there was an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill.
Seems they don't have air conditioning there. Was uncomfortably warm.
They have ants coming from window on that day. We had to change table
