Met with friends before a Papermill show. Nice ambiance and attentive service but the food was a bit slow coming out. 6:15 reservations and we had little time to spare when we finished before an 8:00pm show. The food was good, but not great. Small portions for the prices.

Very good food and service; the only reason for 3 stars rather than 4 was the cost...a little pricey.

Great time. Easy to park. Food was delicious. Chef came out to speak with us after the meal. Fantastic Expeirence!

Going back for the lasagna, I have not tried it but apparently it’s incredible.

Tried to go for Valentine’s Day and had made reservations for 8:15. When I got there, there was a line of people just waiting to be seated! No hosts to greet any of us or to explain what the hold up was. Left after waiting for fifteen minutes. I’m sure food would’ve been decent, but just very unorganized overall.

We are SO OVER LaPergola. While some say the third time is the charm, in this case 3 strikes you are OUT of the Millburn restaurant rotation. With such wonderful choices such as Basilico, DaNico and Cara Mia, you no longer have to deal with the owners NOT honoring reservations, receiving the wrong check twice in one night, average meal ( used to be so much better) and then there is too many tables, lights too low, music on and off, and the wait staff trying their best but running around crazy.

They have NOT honored their reservation time 3 times, we received the wrong check twice, called over the owner, gave him our order and then he sent someone over with the correct check and asked us to pay quickly. The meals have been just ok, not their usual quality. The next night ate at Basilico and had a fabulous meal, great ambiance and courtesy after dinner drinks because our table was not ready. DaNico the week before: greeted like long lost relatives, the chef came out and spoke with everyone in the room and upon leaving, the waiter held the ladies coats!

A great experience. Restaurant was lovely, service attentive but not too attentive. Thoroughly recommend. CAUTION...BYOB. Wine store down the block did not have a great selection.

We had their homemade pasta (squid ink and beet), which was very good. You can order half portions as an appetizer. Our entrees (fish and meat) were good, but not particularly notable. The restaurant was very busy on the Saturday night we were there. We did not wait long for our table, but we did not receive bread and bruschetta that other tables did and had to ask for it. The staff was very busy--everyone rushing around. This did not make for a relaxed setting.
All in all, food good and fairly priced, noise level fairly loud, service was fair.

Almost all our plates including some chewy calamari and a veal special were woefully under seasoned. In addition, for a restaurant blocks from a playhouse you would expect them to know how to get the food out so everyone makes the show. Our apps arrived quickly but we then waited 45 minutes for our entree. We managed to make the show on time but couldn’t even consider dessert.

La Pergola Is the best restaurant in Millburn. The competition is stiff, but La Pergola offers the most consistent and best balanced dining experience. I dine there for both lunch and dinner at least once or twice every month. Why drive into NYC when you can have comparable food and service, right here in downtown Millburn.

Very nice restaurant with great dishes and excellent, attentive service. This restaurant has ambience in it’s decor and soft lighting. We went during the week and we were able to have quiet conversation without competing against other tables. Not sure what weekends would be like. Definitely worth a visit

There was a great selection of specials in addition to the main menu, which also had great variety. Food was excellent. Don't come for a quick meal; this is more European where you sit for a while, but it is quite relaxing.

We've had dinner at La Pergola twice. My half-Italian husband, who is very fussy about Italian cuisine, he loves this place, and I agree. The food is delicious and well prepared, and the service is very accommodating. The first time we went, we had the duck and the lasagna. The red sauce was the best we've ever had in a restaurant. The second time, my husband tried the gnocchi, which he wasn't as crazy about, and I had the rack of lamb, which was very good. The desserts (chocolate mousse cake and spumoni) were fabulous. We look forward to going back and trying other menu items. One tip: This place is BYO.

Good experience considering we were pressed for time because we had a show to go to. Tried to get a 4:30 dinner time but was unavailable. The place was not crowded , maybe because of the snow storm. Will eat there again when we see another show at Paper Mill.
