This is one restaurant that never disappoints you. Excellent food & service. Friendly & very accommodating regarding special requests.
We had to wait 15 minutes past our 7:30 PM reservation. The staff was preoccupied by a large outgoing party and the table being prepped for another large incoming party. The host did her best to get the table ready for us while we waited. The staff was chaotic getting the other party situated,.....set up of balloons, flowers and place settings. I asked the host to seat us quickly so we could get our order in ahead of the 12+ birthday party celebrants. I enjoyed the chicken rollatine but felt that four small pinwheel rounds of chicken breast, 3/4" thick, with only mushrooms as a side, did not warrant $32. My husband had the duck entree and he was satisfied with it. The Caesar salad was tasty, the eggplant rollatine was flavorful but the eggplant was sliced paper thin. In my opinion the portions tend to be on the smaller side and pricing higher than comparable restaurants.
The food was fine but the portions were small. When we were seated the ice bucket next to our table had garbage in it.. Overall, i would not go back..
Excellent meal with superb service. Can't expect better prior to the theater.
La pergola is excellent, we arrived early with our byo before going to the Papermill, had a few glasses before The rest of our party of 6 arrived, we always go back to la pergola since it opened food and service is excellent
Booked a table for 8pm. The restaurant was not busy. Service was terrible. At the end of the meal we were the last table in the restaurant. The staff turned on the radio loud to try to get us to leave. Absolutely awful. Will never eat there again.
I was looking for a restaurant in NJ that had ambiance, delicious food and happened to stumble upon La Pergola. This place is 5-star, a real gem. Our waisted knew all the specials and very attentive. I intend on being a repeat customer and would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Excellent in every way for Easter Sunday !!!!! Great food, great service- an all around great dining
We love Pergola. Agron and his staff are always warm and welcoming. The food is delicious and they serve nice sized portions. It is a lovely restaurant to visit in Millburn.
Great food and service. Will be going back.
A gem of a restaurant great food, service in a lovely setting our favorite in New Jersey
Our party of six was promptly served with professional and courteous service.
Never again! Rude waiter and horrible dinner. Sent back blood red pork chop that was literally worst fatty cut of meat I’ve ever had in any restaurant. Many nicer places in the area. Sad as we chose it based on reviews. Will not return.
This was our second visit for dinner - did not live up to the first.
My clams were overcooked and chewy - our waiter basically ignored our comments to that effect. Service was fair at best - seemed understaffed for a Saturday night.
The food is excellent! It is farm to table. We all loved the Asparagus soup. Full of flavor and healthy! I had Butternut squash ravioli. It was sweet and I felt as if I was eating a "good-for-you" dessert. My friend had the pistachio gnocchi (which I tasted), that melted in my mouth. It was light and subtle. I also tasted my other friend's Dover sole, which was flavorful & light without been overpowering. Exquisite food, great ambience and really personable service. It was like eating at the chef's house. The noise level was quiet to moderate and we could catch up and carry out a conversation without having to repeat. I definitely want to go back!
Food was excellent. Very attentive service. Quiet atmosphere. Great for conversation.
The host, initially, did not honor the open table reservation saying: “ they don’t accept Open Table reservations on weekends”. Then they gave us 2 hours limit for the table.
We’ve been to La Pergola on numerous occasions & the food is amazing & consistently good! The service is impeccable & they’re very accommodating if you have any special requests. I would highly recommend La Pergola for any occasion!
Food and service were exceptional. Lots of great menu choices and specials.
Great food, great service and pleasant ambience.
Great good and service
Would be perfect with 2 or 3 less tables.
Met with friends before a Papermill show. Nice ambiance and attentive service but the food was a bit slow coming out. 6:15 reservations and we had little time to spare when we finished before an 8:00pm show. The food was good, but not great. Small portions for the prices.
Very good food and service; the only reason for 3 stars rather than 4 was the cost...a little pricey.
I've lived in the area for a while, never tried the place until Valentines Day this year. Wish I hadn't. Service was abominable. My wife and I waited 20 minutes for a menu, another half hour for someone to take our order. Servers were burnt out and borderline rude. We were locked into an $85 3-course prefix with uninspired offerings. Food was middling, but that opinion is probably somewhat tainted by the overall poor service. Bumping up to 2 stars because the desserts were pretty good.
We don't go out much (work in the city, kids at home), and it's sad that our Valentines Day date night was spoiled by this restaurant's failure to accommodate -- though they notably did not fail to charge us $85 a piece for a basic salad, piece of fish and a dessert.
Great time. Easy to park. Food was delicious. Chef came out to speak with us after the meal. Fantastic Expeirence!
Going back for the lasagna, I have not tried it but apparently it’s incredible.
Tried to go for Valentine’s Day and had made reservations for 8:15. When I got there, there was a line of people just waiting to be seated! No hosts to greet any of us or to explain what the hold up was. Left after waiting for fifteen minutes. I’m sure food would’ve been decent, but just very unorganized overall.
Great service great food and hospitality
Every bit of food brought to the table was absolutely exquisite.
A great experience. Restaurant was lovely, service attentive but not too attentive. Thoroughly recommend. CAUTION...BYOB. Wine store down the block did not have a great selection.
We had their homemade pasta (squid ink and beet), which was very good. You can order half portions as an appetizer. Our entrees (fish and meat) were good, but not particularly notable. The restaurant was very busy on the Saturday night we were there. We did not wait long for our table, but we did not receive bread and bruschetta that other tables did and had to ask for it. The staff was very busy--everyone rushing around. This did not make for a relaxed setting.
All in all, food good and fairly priced, noise level fairly loud, service was fair.
Excellent flavor profiles in our salads and entrees. We will be back.
Almost all our plates including some chewy calamari and a veal special were woefully under seasoned. In addition, for a restaurant blocks from a playhouse you would expect them to know how to get the food out so everyone makes the show. Our apps arrived quickly but we then waited 45 minutes for our entree. We managed to make the show on time but couldn’t even consider dessert.
Seating was too tight- very crowded.
This is a traditional classy "white tablecloth" restaurant in feel and service. The food is excellent and the service too.
Very nice - food was excellent -looking forward to a return visit very soon.
I had the stuffed artichoke and seared tuna salad. Light, very flavorful, perfectly prepared. service is impeccable. lovely atmosphere. highly recommended!
La Pergola Is the best restaurant in Millburn. The competition is stiff, but La Pergola offers the most consistent and best balanced dining experience. I dine there for both lunch and dinner at least once or twice every month. Why drive into NYC when you can have comparable food and service, right here in downtown Millburn.
The place was way to loud . You could not hear the waiter and I had trouble hearing the person sitting right next to me .
