Food, as ever, was very good. Service was excellent - attentive but not hovering.
Absolutely an embarrassment to the food and beverage industry. We had 545 dinner reservations in order to make the 730 play which we advise them. It took three trips to the hostess to find someone there. There was only 1 other table occupied. The food was again an embarrassment. It looked like it had been sitting Which I’m sure it was as we waited almost 35 minutes for our meal. Obviously we had to box most of it in order to make 730 appointment. They comped my meal which really wasn’t necessary but they will never see me or many of my other friends that I will tell about this experience in the restaurant ever again
Our dinner entre's all came at different times and my wife's never came! Staff seemed oblivious to the poor service even after we told them 3 times that my wife's dinner hadn't been served. A major disappointment.
We enjoyed lunch at The Hedley Club in the DeAnza Hotel. The food is from La Pastaia’s kitchen. Jack, the waiter and bartender, is great! He is a terrific guy with a great sense of humor. I highly recommend having lunch there!!
The serve was very slow including taking the waiter over 20 minutes to greet us at our table. Food was very good and a good value though they offered a limited menu
We waited 15 minutes with no service, asked to move to an area where the server was not as busy, and then waited almost 15 minutes again without service. I used to like this restaurant before events at SAP center, but I will not be back again......no reason to go there to just sit.
Worst experience ever. Waitress took drink orders and food orders from guests who arrived after us. She kept serving and waiting on other tables but wouldn’t wait on us, even though she knew and acknowledged we had been waiting. Took 30 minutes to get our drink order and appetizers. Took another 30 for appetizers to arrive. Our pizza with proscuitto and pears was worse than a frozen pizza. The meat was dried out and did not taste fresh. Way too much cheese. My date’s wine had turned (Lichen Pinot), but we were afraid to say anything. Bill came with a desser item charged on it. We gave 1.5 hours for a meal and ended up late for our event. Worst dining experience.
Excellent food. Professional service. Quiet and relaxing. Great for dinner before a Sharks game then short walk to Shark Tank.
Exceptional Ravioli Bolognese and
specialty pizza.
The food and ambiance were great.
They added a $5.00 surcharge because they gave the staff raises and they didn't want to raise the prices of the food. I think that is dishonest and wasn't too pleased about it. We were already paying $50.00 for brunch.
We ate at the Hedley Club, in the DeAnza Hotel, served by La Pastaia Restaurant. We enjoyed it very much.
Ask for Jack. He’s a great waiter.
The lunch we scheduled through Open Table never happened because when we arrived we were told that they don't serve lunch on Saturday's only the breakfast buffet was available (and was very picked over).
We had scheduled for a 11:15a lunch and received a confirmation from Open Table.
Also, there was a protest march taking place during that time and it was almost impossible to get close to the restaurant. We walked 5 blocks to get to the restaurant.
Do recommend from past experiences.
Client Development
Not enough waiters or cooks. Disorganized. Staff did their best. Food was tasty.
Our dinner was good but the menu selection was somewhat limited. The mint gelato we had had a "grainy" texture rather than being smooth. We went early so it wasn't too noisy so we were able to visit.
The food was quite good, although the service was slow. It seems they need to hire more wait staff on busy nights.
Pasta and salad dishes were very good. The focaccia and olive oil that they charge for was very disappointing. The bread was hard as a rock. Otherwise a very nice evening!
It was a very disappointing meal. A double date with friends we haven't gone out with in quite a while. Service was so slow and it was not busy at all. We were there for 45 minutes and had barely managed to get a bottle of wine open for us and two appetizers served. We decided to ditch the rest of our meal after that and head to another location to finish our evening. The only thing going for it is that it was inside the amazing DeAnza hotel. Next time we will just stay in the bar and have drinks. The appetizers we did have were only so-so and nothing very exciting. It was the calamari which was Bland. And the meatballs which were okay.
We had salmon which was very tasty. I liked the way the chef made it "crusty" like a very light seared glaze. My companions ordered an off-menu change to the lunch; ie: the fish but only with brussel sprouts. But instead the dish came accompanied by mounds of colorful zucchini squash which was not their favorite. The servers are super friendly and try really hard to take care of the diners. They have some new décor which is more trendy and appealing. We finished off with cappuccinos which were strong and well made with firm foam.
Closest classy place to the Shark Tank for hockey.
Good food, fairly quiet, clean and bright
Menu is quite limited, but on hockey night you usually are looking to get in and out, so not a problem.
Probably the best bet for a hockey fan that wants something a little upscale from the noisy joints down the street.
Very limited menu, out of every wine we asked for. Good we brought our own. This place has really changed for the worse. I would not go back. To bad use to be pretty good especially before a SHARKS game. Nothing stays the same. The server was very good.
In 25 years, I've never had a disappointing experience here. I enjoy La Pastaia for its dependably fine food and professional, unobtrusive service. Recently met my dad for a birthday lunch on a Tuesday noon, and was frankly surprised at how quiet it was at that time of day, which was nice. We shared the poached pear salad and the Genovese pizza—while not wildly out of the ordinary, both dishes were perfectly prepared and delicious. The space is classically elegant, and also warm, relaxed, and inviting. Recommended for fancy business lunch, dates, and special occasions.
This is a solid restaurant with a very nice menu. Service is always great.
Food not very good. Each of us , three, were served food that wasn't tasty. The ravioli was blah, the salad worse and the salmon only ok.
Limited Menu. Seafood that had a strong odor and unfresh taste. Ingredients are low quality. Simple thing like pepperoni on the pizza was cheap, rubbery and artificial. Biggest disappointment may have been dessert, which they called Creme Brulee, but looked and tasted like it came right from the freezer at Costco. Canned frozen berries dumped on a lumpy cream filling, nothing resembling creme brulee. Not sure how they get away with this. Visually, this place has a very nice look & feel, but they're either cutting costs on the food, don't know what they're doing, or just think diners in SJ are ignorant.
Although I didn’t care for the meal that I had, which was the swordfish special, everyone else liked their meals. Plus, every time I’ve been there in the past I liked it. Won’t stop me from going there again.
Dinner was good but we would recommend they update their webpage as some of items listed were not available
Elegant atmosphere. We’re hooked on the Ceci appetizer!
The server was efficient and friendly. The calamari was good. Two people had pasta which was good. My mother and I had roasted chicken piccata. On top of the chicken was lumpy white gravy or sauce. Very unappetizing. The server said the chef had made the sauce thick. And he sent it out? She took it back and he replated it which meant scraping off the weird lumpy white sauce. The server comped us 20%. Very strange especially when the menu is limited.
Been going here for Sharks pre-game meals for years. The restaurant is in trouble. Limited menu, poor food preparation and slow and untrained service. The place was mostly empty due to others knowing better. We will not be back. Disappointing as this was a constant.
If you want bad service at a high price, this is the restaurant for you. I have had better service at a fast casual restaurant! Not acknowledged after being seated, waited 20 min and still had to ask the hostess for our waiter. He apologized saying that he didn't know he was responsible for this section but service just as bad the next day for breakfast with different wait staff. BAD!
Reliably attentive service from Azir. Menu not expansive but fresh seafood and great pastas a highlight. Great for before theatre or sports arena dates. And let’s not forget excellent craft cocktails ...😉
Nice evening, good service. We celebrated my husband’s birthday before walking to the SJ Performing Arts Center for a musical. There were three persons being attentive to our desires- all very pleasant. We ordered pasta dishes which were delicious, and had pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Yes, I’ll go again!
We came before a San Jose Sharks game. Three pizzas and spaghetti and meatballs was ordered by our group. The pizzas are good sized. The 2 men finished theirs, but my friend and I could have split one. The spaghetti and meatballs were a generous portion. The sauce was a bit bland, but the meatballs were quite tasty. They were out of the ravioli that I was hoping to order. That could have been said when we received our menus so that I didn't have to go back and choose another option. Overall, good meal.
Poor quality of food and service. Half of the items on the menu were not available. Drinks were awful.
Nothing too fancy, but nice people and delicious food. I had the fish special. Yummy!
Worse service I have ever experienced. Ordered a bottle of wine and it took 15 minutes to tell me they were out. Ordered another bottle and 10 minutes later the waiter showed up with it but broke the corkscrew in the cork. A full half hour after his arrival my guest was offered a glass of wine. Then they brought us salads that weren’t ours. Then brought us our side vegetables before we even got our salads. Then they brought us entrees that weren’t ours. Finally got our entrees. All of this as the restaurant was not even full.
It was very disappointing. Hadn't been there is several years but it has gone down hill.
Nice surprise. Thought I had booked at a different place but it was good before a show and food and service too. We thought they only had wine when we arrived but can order cocktails from the main bar. Easy walk to SAP.
Gratuity calculations need to be changed to sub total not the total. It only hurts the server and upsets the guest.
I was disappointed in my Pasta- chicken fettuccine- which was the special- it was tasteless and bland. But the service was good, the restaurant is pretty, and the location is just down the street from the SAP center.
Good wine selection
