La Parisienne Bistro and Cafe - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We were unaware of this little gem located behind the James Center. My husband bought a groupon so we tried it and we're well pleased. The menu was very original. The server was French and attentive without being overbearing. The decor was inderststed, the lighting perfect and the ceiling high.
We have visited this restaurant several times over the few years it has been open and have become "regulars". The owner and his staff are extremely personable and always attentive to your needs. The food is always well prepared and if necessary, the seasoning can be adjusted to taste. They offer a nice assortment of French prepared dishes in a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Parking can be found on the street (depending upon the time you visit), or across the street at a nearby parking deck.
Reservations are welcome and are suggested. Bon appetit!
For a Saturday night, only six (3 couple) were dining. Very surprised by the lack of customers. The waiter was excellent and the food was outstanding. Maybe the restaurant caters to a business customer during the week. I highly recommend this restaurant. Perhaps it is the location of the facility.
This was our third dinner at La Parisienne and we continue to be impressed by the food and the staff. Their location in Richmonds financial center makes them a very busy lunch location. Hence, our choice to eat dinner their instead. They are much less crowded for dinner and parking in the area is much easier after 6:00pm.
Their soups are a delight. We had butternut squash soup - delicious! I had the lamb with root vegetables for an entrée and my wife had the salmon. They were both excellent. We will definitely return again soon.
The waiter, whom I assumed was the owner, was very kind and made much conversation throughout the night. The food was AMAZING. We had appetizers, salad/soup, entrées, dessert, wine - the works. Everything tasted wonderful! The price was reasonable for being downtown Richmond and for the delicious food and great service. We also had a groupon, so that was even better.
Food quality was right on. Service was outstanding. There was bad weather that night and there wasn't anyone else there.... Come on Richmond this place is a great place. Parking deck is 3$ after 6 across the street. There honey infused butter that comes with the bread is amazing. The views of downtown Richmond are very nice. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant to talk to.
La Parisienne is always great to eat at. I've come here for everything from a casual dinner to holiday party for 20 guests to graduation celebration. They never disappoint! Ali and Jamil are excellent and even have patience with my bad attempts at French :). This most recent time they made me fresh squeezed lemonade even though it wasn't on the menu. Great service, great food and Greta ambience.
Not a bad experience, but I would not go out of my way to go back. On the plus side, the décor was very trendy and attractive, the staff was friendly On the negatives, they were "out" of one of the two entrée specials for the evening (despite our arriving early for dinner and the restaurant being nearly empty), and my dining partner and I thought our food was only so-so. The restaurant has lots of potential...but not there yet.
The food was delicious, especially the Crepe bites and dipping sauce. All of us ordered different meals and thy were presented very nice. The Sweet Crepe's were tasty and large enough to share if need be. The wait staff was attentive and we shared some laughs with our waitress. All in all a Great Time Was Had By All👍
I took my mother to La Parisienne for Mother's day brunch. We had a wonderful time! They were doing a pre-fix menu which included 3 courses and complimentary bubbles for mothers. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive a friendly. The owner greeted us as we entered and checked on us during our brunch. It was a nice touch and made my mother feel extra special. I will definitely be going back to try their regular menu.
The owner of the restaurant greeted me at the door held the door for me and was very very accommodating
It was my first Mother's Day without my mom the staff as well as the owner understood that and were more than gracious I would suggest anyone stop by this wonderful establishment and enjoy a fine dining experience
My family and I are always on the lookout for a good French restaurant. THIS IS IT. The food was delicious and our server was FANTASTIC. Like.. Seriously, I'm not exaggerating. This guy was probably the best I've ever seen. He was attentive, super friendly, and made awesome suggestions that made the overall dinner very very good. It's kind of pricey (but not overbearing) so it wouldn't be somewhere I go too often. But for special occasions? Definitely. And will I be recommending this place? Absolutely!
We were visiting Richmond for the weekend and looking for a place to eat before a show. Found this restaurant just a few blocks from our hotel. The waiter was friendly, helpful and informative about the menu. The chef came out to check on everyone and make sure he understood the orders as the waiter was by himself and doing everything. The "chips and dip" were excellent and a different kind of appetizer. The bread fresh and warm. The duck entree was delicious. Unfortunately we were too full to try desert. I highly recommend them to people who live in town as well as out of town guests.
There was not one thing about La Parisienne that we did not like. It was excellent - from the service, to the food, to the wine, to the ambiance. When baked chicken is elevated to that level of delicious (moist, tender, full of sweet mustard flavor), one knows that the lamb will be superior. It all was. Highly recommend it for food, wine, and the late night floor show on Friday nights. Very chic and fun!
The food has been excellent every time my wife and I have gone to La Parisienne. We went on a Friday night, and ordered the Brussel sprout appetizer, a giant steak, and dessert. Additionally, we were able to decide the accompanying wine by obtaining a taste of each (which worked out great). Lastly, the chef came to our table to recommend a different doneness for the steak (he was right, of course). All in all, it was among the top 10 meals I have had in Richmond and a great experience as well. We went on a 3rd Friday, so the Argentinian tango group arrived at the end of our meal and we were able to dance a bit. A true GEM!
Staff was far too busy qnd bustling. Loud. I was served gloppy macaroni and cheese (!) with my fish entree - hardly French. My husband's steak was excellent but desserts were a tremendous disappointment...taseless and prepared hours ahead. The room was cold and made colder each time the door opened. Butcher paper on the table tops is not elegant, either.
Booked on Saturday, which happened to be Valentine's Day. Restaurant had Prix Fixe menu, so can't comment on normal selection. Food was delicious, good ambiance, great service, etc. As we now Uber through town to food and entertainment, worries about parking/logistics fade from consideration. We'll be back to try them again on a normal night, but first impressions were very positive.
I reserved a slot for Valentine's Day weekend with the impression that the full menu would be available. One day before our reservation, I received a phone call informing me that the full menu would not be available for our visit and that there was a flat price of $59 per person. We still went and were pleased with a four course meal and a great experience, but I think I should've been informed about the special pricing sooner. We could've had a better dining experience had I not felt the cash in my wallet smoldering.
It is truly painful to write. The prix fixe supper which should be easier to plan and prepare due to the limitation of the menu, was a disappointment. The bread they serve, to begin with, was more like Wonder Bread than anything you might find in a restaurant which purports to be French, or of any other country on the European continent . The ahi tuna appetizer was yummy, but then everything else failed. The lobster bisque was almost cold, and largely tasteless. The steak was fatty and full of gristle, and also tepid to begin with. Mashed potatoes were almost like they were made from potato buds. Her ladyship had the fish, which was also cold and almost inedible. Her chocolate mousse was pretty good, but my crème brûlée was probably sitting out for half an hour before being served, so was colder even than the steak. And please, the torch is meant to caramelize the sugar atop the custard, not turn it to charcoal, to carbon. $59 a head… And we feel that we have been had. Particularly after a beautiful performance of Romeo and Juliet by the gifted Richmond ballet in celebration of Valentine's Day on the Saturday, did our experience at this place dampen our spirits. Please, ladies and gentlemen, there are too many restaurants in Richmond… I know you can do better than this. God bless you.
