Rock Bottom Brewery Restaurant - Bethesda
Really good red sauce Italian restaurant. Now with Argentine specialties on the menu also.
This was a go-to for my family for years, and I loved it. But new owners took over the business, and they have some rough edges. Wine served too warm. My dinner was great; my friends said their food was very bland and lacking in flavor. Our calamari appetizer was oily the sauce had no flavor. I miss the old menu. I will give it another try.
New management has changed the menu. White Pizza is now 4 cheese pizza (no garlic), Entrees were not the same as we had before. It is now off our list.
Wonderful place in every respect!!
Came highly recommended. Took my reservation via OpenTable while closed for renovation, and I did not know they were closed. Notified me 2 hours after my reservation was to be - by then I already knew it was closed and it made me looked inefficient in front of my client.
The restaurant was closed when we arrived - luckily we found an alternative. You need to stay on top of thia
Alas, this restaurant was a favorite of ours for over a quarter of a century. We learned at dinner that the restaurant would be closing the next day. We have traveled to Italy many times, but this remained our favorite DC area Italian restaurant. La Panetteria will be missed.
They made mistakes in what we ordered ( for two of us)
Consistently excellent food. Wonderful service and excellent desserts. A nice place to bring your family and feel special.
The ambience, food and service were fair. I do not plan to return.
Great restaurant with genuine Italian food for a steal. Definitely would recommend trying it.
We love La Panetteria. The staff is welcoming, the food is great, and the noise level is low.
Best Pizza in Montgomery county. Staff is extremely attentive and courteous. Can be busy on the weekend but is very accessible during the week.
The food here is great. The service is a little shoddy. The tables for 4 are a bit too small for comfort. But overall, it's well worth it.
The service was very, very slow. White wine was served at nearly room temperature. The restaurant was freezing cold and most patrons had their coats on throughout the meal. I have been to this establishment several times, and even hosted a party here several years ago, but it’s really gone downhill.
La Panetteria is a Bethesda classic. Excellent old Italian food prepared with fresh ingredients. The service staff is one of the best in the area. Friendly, informative, and welcoming. A good solid restaurant to enjoy with large or small groups of family and friends.
Lamb shank over resoto in the lunch menu is a great selection
From the website I expected a quaint Italian restaurant-it wasn't. We were put at a table in the back of the restaurant by the bathroom and kitchen. Service was not good, water glasses were dirty, food was ok-not great, not bad.
After patronizing La Panetteria for over fifteen years, we have found food and service to be consistently outstanding. We often take guests to the restaurant, and these individuals also compliment all aspects of the dining experience.
Good Italian food at a fair price ; a la carte desserts!
We had a great meal, and will be back again. The food is excellent.
La Panetteria is one of me and my husbands favorite places to eat. Be advised that on their busy nights, the food may take some time to arrive however it is well worth the wait. It's always served fresh and never ever cold.
I recommend this to anyone who wants to eat good local Italian food.
Food was amazing! Everything was just perfect to me 👍🏻
Took my beautiful girlfriend here for our first Valentines Day dinner and was extremely happy. We were greeted when we came in and the host worked with us to find a perfect table. Our waitress was polite and friendly and the staff always made sure we had full glasses of water and checked in on us often. The food was very good. Portions were a bit small but quality over quantity, right? My girlfriend and I had a fabulous dinner and I couldn't have been happier that they helped me show her a great time.
I really enjoyed the experience at this restaurant. The place was beautiful, the service was good and the food was delicious. Enjoyed our Valentines with my wife here.
Food was great. There is limited space at the tables. Server we had was really busy with other tables. But he was polite. He forgot to put in our appetizer choice.
My late husband and I always ate at this restaurant and really got to know the owners and staff. I love La Panetteria for its value, the consistent good food and the warm, family like atmosphere. Now that I am a single diner mainly and I don’t drink, one might think restaurants would turn up their noses at me, but not so at La Panetteria. Thanks so much!!
Continues to serve delicious Italian cuisine in a family friendly atmosphere. Wines we usually don't see at other restaurants as well. All very reasonably priced. Great service!
Classic neighborhood Italian restaurant. The mozzarella n carrozza was perfect as well as the veal marsala
Our only complaint is that the tables are much to small for four people. You feel cramped together and there isn’t enough room on top of table for dishes, glasses, etc
We are regulars at La Panetteria. It is my husband's favorite local restaurant. The service is great and the food is fabulous.
The food and ambiance were good quality but our food did not come out for over an hour after ordering. There is a note in the menu that good food takes time to prepare, but it seemed excessive. The waiter apologized but it was curious that many tables seated after our party us received food in advance of ours. Our conclusion was that the food was not worth the wait.
Food came out late and cold
The food was ok, nothing special. Calamari as an appetizer was decent, the serving was enough for three people. Minestrone was a light broth soup with vegetables, a little bland, and nothing special; the veal parmigiana was a bit cold like it was sitting for a while, not crispy breaded, and a very light smattering of cheese. The best part was the tiramisu, which was good. Overall, won't be back.
Excellent home-cooked Italian food. The service was excellent.
My only complaint is that my dinner was like warm. The eggplant Parmesan was tasty!
The atmosphere was very nice, we were seated in the atrium section. The service and food was really good.
The staff was very attentive as usual and the food was tasty and well prepared. It is a great place for a simple but well prepared Italian meal.
This was not our first visit, but probably our last. We went out on a Thursday night to quietly celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was empty except for one noisy table. Inexplicably, they seated us next to the noisy table. Service was intermittent, and the waitress appeared overwhelmed, although as noted the restaurant was empty. Food was disappointing. We go there for pasta, but the carbonara was oily, not creamy, and had only bacon - way too much bacon. The caprese salad had lovely mozzarella but was made with unripe tomatoes. The house chianti tasted as if it was colored water. A disappointing evening.
my kids(grown) like this place as it is a neighborhood restaurant that is relatively reasonable.....I have taken the family nere for past Christmas eve dinners and use it myself from time to time...Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner....mine was mediocre at best..but Holidays are really ot the time to rate restaurants....if you are looking for a nice little Italian restaurant in Bethesda...with ambiance...I prefer it to the popular pines accross the street....give it a try....
