They were able to accommodate a large birthday group (20 people) with no issues. Wonderful brunch not to mention great music!
The food was unbelievable!! Hidden gem in the east village!!
This was my first time here. I decided to take my girlfriends here for brunch for my birthday. We arrived a little late which thankfully wasn’t an issue. But our table was right next to the cash register and my two friends kept getting knocked by them. I just felt that was tough placement for a table. But other than that, things went very well.
Our waiter was fun and sweet! Since our drinks were held up at the bar for a few minutes, he extended the time of our unlimited drinks. :)
Had the duck tostadas that were delicious. And the tamarind margaritas were excellent!
We had a wonderful time! Food terrific a was staff. It was very busy Sunday Brunch crowd.
Fun brunch spot. Our server was extremely accommodating and helpful. Bottomless was truly bottomless, and food was fine.
It was my first time there on a date and it was very nice. The food was excellent and the service was great.
The Sunday brunch scene is well underrated here. You won't see sloppy young 20-somethings roaming about, which is great considering that there's a bottomless brunch option. It took a while for us to get our refills each time (a blender was broken? or they wanted to slow us down?), though our server was really kind and attentive.
La Palapa was delicious... the brunch drinks were served in super cute individual pitchers... and the food was just fantastic.
I found La Palapa while I was looking for a dinner location before a show at PS 122. The food was excellent and served quickly. The staff were truly outstanding. Each one was charming, in addition to, being helpful and welcoming. We will certainly dine here again and recommend to friends and family.
It was great drinks were strong!
The service was extremely poor. My friend arrived 5 minutes before I did and luckily she had received her mimosa by the time I arrived. However, once we sat down it took 25 minutes to have our server come greet the rest of the table, and that was after we told a busser we had been waiting for a while so he grabbed our server for us. We ordered mimosas and they took a while to get to us. The food was not bad for the price but didn’t blow me away my any means. The server was clueless - we ordered a pitcher of mimosa and he brought a single serving, saying “I got you this for now.” And lots of other weird interactions that made it seem like he didn’t know what he was doing. The worst part was once we got the check and noticed they charged for a glass of mimosa extra (we ordered bottomless mimosas for $16) he tried to justify it by saying our friend had ordered before we got there. I understand where that logic may have come into play if she hadn’t specified she was ordering bottomless and wanted it to be included in that. The server ruined the whole experience. And so did the long wait time.
Our dinner on New Years Eve was fantastic. They served their usual menu which was a big plus to us, and we did order a bunch of their NYE specials. Thanks for the New Years hats and champagne.
This place had AMAZING food! Will definitely be returning again. Was here for a friends birthday and it was perfect.
LaPalapa was a nice dinig experience. I would recommend it for families. The service was corteous but did not enhance our experience.
Sadly, the margaritas were practically undrinkable, and we ordered two different pitchers. I ordered a cocktail instead. Service was slow but friendly. Food was mediocre overall. Al pastor taco was the best. Fun atmosphere for a a group reservation, but the food and drinks were just not good.
Always a pleasure.
Great staff, neighborhood crowd, delicious margaritas, big portions, happy vibe.
THE FOOD: authentic, flavorful, delicious.
THE DRINKS: we tried jalapeño margaritas, one with mezcal, the other tequila, both CRAZY delicious and certified, spice-nut spicy. another had the frozen strawberry margarita before converting to the jala-mezcalarita, while our beer enthusiast enjoyed the authentic offerings.
THE NOISE: real loud on a Friday night, but the energy is infectious!
CONCLUSION: we will be returning for more! such a vibrant scene, friendly staff and de-LISH-ous offerings.
this place is usually great, but what an off night. the service was terrible and the food only so-so. not sure what's up... this is usually a go-to for a nice evening.
Our group of nearly 20 had an excellent time!
We may well go back again.
Made reservations for a group of 7 for Saturday brunch. 5 of us arrived on time and the hostess had no problem at all seating us without the rest of our party. Our waiter, Andrew, was courteous of our missing guests and offered to still get our bottomless drink orders in so that the drinks would arrive and the 1.5 hour clock would start around the time that the rest of our party arrived. He was very knowledgeable on the menu and an enthusiastic waiter who made our already enjoyable experience at La Palapa that much better.
We all got the Huevos Rancheros Verdes which I would strongly recommend. Strawberry frozen margaritas are amazing and Andrew made sure we were filled all throughout our meal! Definitely will be returning
Five of us shared a memorable Dia de Los Muertos feast at La Palapa. Every bite was delicious, the service was attentive and amiable, and The Best Margarita award is well deserved. Every visit to La Palapa is a sensory delight You can’t do better if “the real thing” is what you’re after. Kudos!
I hope this was an off night -- I've enjoyed La Palapa so much more on other occasions. I had forgotten how unpleasantly noisy it is on weekends, but it was the food that was disappointing -- the fish and shrimp were overcooked, and the quesadillas had sat for quite a while before they were served.
I love this place! Authentic Mexican food, perfectly prepared. Great ambiance and excellent value.
Went for brunch. My mom enjoyed her omelette with churizo. I had the mexican eggs benedict, which had this green chalupas sauce on it. I didn't like it much, but the drinks and service was good.
It has a great bar scene so would be fun for drinks and apps including a terrific guacamole. For group dining it is almost impossible to hear the people across the table. My wife had the tilapia which was drowning in a nondescript red sauce while I had the steak which was done perfectly and had a tangy jalapeño sauce that was quite tasty. Mahi mahi which was delivered to our table by accident and left at no charge was tastier than the tilapia by far. There are so many Mexican options in the city that I have a hard time justifying La Palapa as a restaurant that I would return to.
La Palapa is a great place for a last minute brunch option. They’re bottomless drinks are served in oversized cups!
I really enjoyed my birthday with my friends!!
Food was good and service was good!!
The bar was outstanding. Oscar and Patrick were the dynamic duo.
Service was great. I enjoyed my meal, I know my some friends were not as satisfied. Bacon is very good there. Drinks are in mini pitchers which is wonderful so you don't have to bother your waiter as frequently for bottomless brunch.
Love this place!
La Palapa was the perfect choice for a boozy brunch. The service was great and at a good price too. We had a wonderful time.
Love this place! Food is always very good and the staff is friendly. Can't beat their brunch special value.
Really authentic, great value, delicious, great service
Came for my sons 26th birthday celebration with 9 friends and family. Noisy, fun, good food , good service!! guac with the veggies is awesome! Made a great choice for a dinner celebration.
When I think about what characterizes a good Mexican restaurant, I think about the margaritas. Frankly, we were not impressed with the margaritas, and questioned whether they contained any tequila. The food is excellent, and everyone in my group enjoyed what they ordered. If you don't like really spicy food, you might ask about your order, as some of the sauces definitely had some heat to them. The service was disappointing, which I experienced on my first visit as well. This is certainly not my favorite Mexican restaurant, but I think it could be if they a bit more attention to the details.
This place was so bad I had to laugh. From the lack of air-conditioning on a ninety-plus degree night to the inept waitress to the entrees that resembled week-old leftovers. My wife may never eat Mexican food again.
