Probably the worst food we had in our 6 months in NYC. Most dishes were tasteless and blunt. Will not be going there again
Went for my birthday with a big group- great spot!
Delicious food! Margs are great too, however happy hour is only served at the bar which I think is dumb especially being that the bar is small.
Was nice. Waitress was nice and food was nice. was busy but we did not need to wait to be seated with our reservation.
We went on cinco de Mayo - so the place was crazy - even at the early hour of 3:00pm on a Sunday - the staff is pleasant - the food mediocre - it’s mind numbing loud. Have to shout. Just feel there are much better options available in New York.
Too loud and too hot but good food and drinks
Service was great. Great waiter. I dont like the brunch specials anymore. Brunch seems to be geared toward mitigating hangovers rather than dining. But a cocktail off their menu was awesome and I am intent on ordering off the main menu next time. Just fyi, brunch looked like 90% female customers. Just an observation.
Food was great and the host was simply excellent at greeting guests. Overall, awesome experience; I look forward to coming back!
Great food, great atmosphere, and great people! Highest possible recommendation!
WE WILL BE COMING BACK!
I hadn't gone to La Palapa in years. I decided to try it again for dinner with friends. I was so happy the food quality stayed well. It was the first high-end Mexican restaurant I knew years ago. They have the regulars like nachos, burritos etc. but they also have an authentic mole and serve duck breast with delicious seasons.
The rooms a beautifully decorated with a classy Mexican style. Service is great. It was just very noisy but only because there were a few parties and it was a Friday night.
Food was very good, drink were ok. Service was just ok, they need to be more friendly.
Incredible molé. Even their queso fresco is made in house.
The people who worked at La Palapa were very good. Friendly, helpful, personable. The food was very average. They don't seem to season the food that has sauce on it. They just put the sauce over the chicken. The sauce was tasty but the chicken tasteless. very strange. We ordered a pitcher of Margaritas on the rocks. Very average Margaritas. The noise level was horrendous. I had eaten at La Palapa years ago when it first opened and we both said, now we know why we never went back.
Went for a family lunch between my family and my boyfriend’s family. Everyone loved the food selection. The queso fundido is perfect. It was very loud, which was unexpected. But that did not detract much from such an enjoyable meal.
Great atmosphere and fantastic service. The food was very authentic.
La Palapa is such a good find! From the outstanding food to the service, my experience has been great time and time again. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the city!
La Palapa was a fun Mexican restaurant to come to with a group of friends to catch up and have fun. The drinks were delicious and there was a very wide selection of food for all different types of eaters. Everyone there seemed like they were looking to let loose and enjoy themselves, but it was still a controlled setting. Would definitely go back, but would try a different entree (I got the special calamari salad which ended up being just a caesar salad with somewhat rubbery calamari).
I've been dining at La Palapa for over 15 years. It's a little noisier than I'd like, but that's to be expected, so that's okay. What keeps me coming back is the amazing food, and great service!
Great food but a bit pricey ($23 for 3 fish tacos seems a bit high). Service was awesome but the place is a little crowded.
The bottomless brunch limits the menu to just a few entree's. Food was ok, service was average - took about 30 minutes for us to get our second round of drinks but the waitress did extend our 90 minute timeframe to compensate. Overall, I would go back.
Wonderful meal. Some of the best guacamole I have ever had. O would highly recommend
Bottomless brunch is a good deal with good service. Margs were strong.
It was a nice time out, we were seated fast and according to the reservation time. Our food was delicious. Our server was a little too aggressive in manner in terms of making suggestions: she came on a little too strong. The setting was nice, candles all around were intimate but dimmed lights would of been better bc at times it felt like it was too dark. It was a little too loud at times but we did go on a Friday evening so I’m sure at any other time of day it would of been better. The bill was fair for the food we had, so I’d give this place a 7/10 and I definitely would eat there again.
Delicious food. Good service. Lovely ambience. Definitely recommend. Be sure to order the guacamole!!
We went for the bottomless brunch. The mimosa's were great, and while we were waiting on our food, we ordered the guacamole and chips, which were also great! The hot sauces were also really good (especially the spicy one).
Our brunch dishes did take quite some time to arrive, and one arrived many minutes before the other two.
Friendly and fun service.
Fun, good vibe, very good food. Waitress (Marti) was exceptional-helpful, efficient, charming
Food was okay - missing more flavor. Drinks were watered down.
Always a top notch experience. The food is outstanding.
The cheapest brunch deal in the area. Bottomless mimosas are huge and strong - really delicious. Had a basic avocado toast, but apparently the Mexican food here is much better. It’s really loud inside and crowded with large groups, make a reservation beforehand.
The appetizers are amazing, as are the margaritas. The tacos were addictive. Very low light intimate setting. Great place to grab dinner with a significant other or a group of friends. Can get a little loud at times but all in all great experience.
Great food, great drinks. Excellent place for a girls night out.
Amazing! Great food and great atmosphere
La Palapa definitely has the best margaritas (frozen or otherwise) in Manhattan. Pair that with delicious food and quick & friendly servers and it's become my go to place to bring friends, my husband, family, you name it. Not to mention I'm a chef myself, so I'm not easy to impress!
La Palapa was unlike any Mexican restaurant I've been to in NYC. Delicious and unique, with reasonable prices.
The food was excellent and the brunch special was an amazing deal!
The lobster crepes, chicken mole, and octopus salad were delicious. The drinks good as well. Service was attentive and efficient. Would return again and again.
We went early for Valentine's day anticipating all restaurants to be crowded and way too noisy for our liking. Because of this, we had our waiter's undivided attention, got our food in a relatively quick manner and was able to enjoy it in peace. The food was amazing, I personally loved that there were a bunch of vegetarian friendly options to choose from that were just as delicious as the options with meat or fish.
The food was great!! A little loud and we were seated next to the door so a bit cold but otherwise great! Two big tacos for $12 was good for me - the pork and the chorizo were yummy.
Waitress seemed like she was high... she didn’t explain the menu to us, didn’t check in on us enough so we were often left with empty glasses, all the other tables got their food before us and we got there before them and had a smaller party. The food was terrible quality. I ordered the French toast which was supposed to have cinnamon syrup and bananas, but instead they just dumped a whole fruit salad on top of it (grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe) yes there were bananas but no one wants watermelon on top of their French toast!
