A group of 5 friends met at LaMarra for dinner. I am so glad to know about the restaurant, as it was my first visit. We enjoyed the food and wine and the experience was great. Once more people arrived, it became a bit loud, so I probably would not bring my in laws as they are hard of hearing. But I Will definitely return.

The food is excellent and the wine pairings we had with the prix-fixe were superb. The ambience is pleasant, if a little noisy. Unfortunately, the service was very slow. We had some younger servers upstairs who seemed a little challenged by everything, and were not very attentive. No-one came to the table for a long period. Finally, I waved down a server to ask for the bill. We then asked to split the bill onto two separate credit cards and this just seemed to stump them. I think they were confused we were leaving before desert had been ordered, oblivious to how long the table had been left unattended. When the senior server returned he looked pained as he realized what happened (I felt bad for him). It was unfortunate, because the food really was excellent and the wines expertly chosen and the senior server was quite good. But the younger staff just did not know what to do.

Our reservation was for 8:15 pm and we were seated a hair under 9 pm. We didn't get our order taken till 9:20 pm and got our entree at a little past 10 pm. They had over booked , because we were not alone in regards to waiting. They made us wait for 45 minutes for our table in an area that had no place to sit and was directly in front of the bathrooms.

We like everything about La Morra except that the seating puts tables almost right on top of each other. The presso fisso (price fixed) option was terrific and a reasonable price at $40 for an appetizer, pasta dish, main course, and dessert. Each of these offered a choice of two alternatives (except dessert which offered a choice of 4-5 alternatives).

An acquaintance of ours who eats out a lot with his chef girlfriend considered La Morra the best Italian restaurant in Boston. The Boston Magazine food section also gave it an enthusiastic thumb up. So we went to eat there understandably with some high expectation. They perhaps biased my expectation. I booked a few days before a Saturday night and had no trouble getting a reservation . The restaurant is located in the eastern end of Brookline in a rather quiet part of Boylston Street. There is plenty of street parking nearby. The restaurant interior is tastefully decorated and is cozy. We arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation time and we were welcomed and seated promptly. We ordered the meat balls, salty cod along with an asparagus-olive-potato-beet dish for appetizers. They are all quite tasty and go along well with the fresh bread they served. We had a couple glasses of their house wines which tasted kind of flat. We then shared a dinner size portion of the arrabiata fettucine with seafood. Although the pasta was nicely done, the seafood sauce was off. I actually think it ruined the perfectly cooked fresh pasta. The portion was huge and we doggy-bagged 1/3 of the dish. We had the sea bass and hanger steak for our entrée. I got a big piece of fish but served half cold. The hanger steak was o.k. with good accompaniments. The wait staff is friendly but is too eager as one of them tried several times taking away my plate before I am done eating.

I was wanting to try La Morra for some time. I had the opportunity this weekend to do so. My daughter and I went for Sunday dinner. We started with delicious sauvignon blanc wine and appetizers (small plates) 1. Tricolore (Arugula, endive, and radicchio salad with an anchovy vinaigrette) -FANTASTIC. 2. Salvia Fritta Con Acciughe Fried sage leaves with anchovy - Very good 3. Arancini Di Riso Fried stuffed risotto with braised beef and cheese - FANTASTIC MAIN COURSE: We both decided on the Eglefino Arrosto Pan roasted haddock with honey roasted beets, hazelnuts, and celeriac and burdock root slaw with horseradish vinaigrette. - Mediocre, flavorless. I very rarely send anything back to the kitchen but, mine was undercooked. They quickly corrected, but I was not impressed with this dish. Even the sides. There was no wow factor, flavorless, my daughter agreed. We thought it was going to be a winner based on the description. I almost went with swordfish, but the waiter explained it is really a very small piece of swordfish on a large bed of mussels, confusing, so it's really just a mussels dish with a little piece of swordfish. THE SERVICE: EXCELLENT the waiter and staff were phenomenal. I might give them another try, but the other odd thing is the location. It's a strange location and not very convenient.

Three of our group of four chose from the 4-course $40 price fixed menu. Sometimes the servings on a multi-course menu are puny, but these were not: all found it more than ample amount of food. The choices were also uniformly very good (although the pan seared trout really stood out). The fourth person had a risotto that she said was excellent... and she took nearly half of it home.

This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. Creative bold flavors. Prepared perfectly. Super attentive wait staff. This place is superb. Whenever in Brookline we will ALWAYS go there. Of course everyone in our party shares and tastes everyone else’s orders. There was not a single order that I did not find impressive in flavor, plating and creativity. It was a pleasure all around. If everyone knew how good this place is, there’d be a line out the door.

We chose this restaurant because of its proximity to Homewood Suites where we were staying. I was able to get a quick reservation even on a Friday evening. Service was friendly but on the slow side. Menu was small but everyone found something. The upstairs room was extremely packed in & noisy. But I enjoyed the food so would return

Went for Easter Brunch had a very good waiter excellent service . Food was good. However it was not as special as we expected , brunch is not their specialty and they only do it a few times a year. The brunch consisted of 3 small plates : Choice of appetizer , entree , desert . Small portions . The cost was $45 per person. We are looking forward to going back to try their homemade pasta as somebody at my table had a homemade linguini with Bolognese sauce as their brunch entree and it was outstanding. The vibe in the place is welcoming and old school . The restaurant is an Old Brownstone 2 floors . Authentic Italian . It’s got a great smell . It has character .

We sat at the bar and Brian was very helpful and knowledgeable with the food and wine menus. From our seats in the bar we were able to see a chef that was making salads. We were horrified as she was mixing the salads in a bowl with her bare hands and then tasting the salad with her hands and then again mixing the salad. Needless to say we passed on the salad options. We did order the arancini which they said came out but not to us. They did finally send out the order and they were good. My husband had the bolognese which was ok and nothing to rush back for. I had the bucatini and clam sauce which was flavorful but dry.

We went to La Morra because it was the closest place for late night dining near the Homewood Suites hotel, and we were very pleased with the food and the service. It's not an inexpensive option, and since it was late, we opted for small plates rather than the full course meal. We left satisfied and full, and if we are in the area again, we would definitely go back for a full meal.

That's the best way to describe each morsel. Please order pitchers of water as soon as you are seated. Keep your fitbit set to its most sensitive setting, and get set for a swell-ing evening!

From the moment you you walk through the door you realize your in a popular local spot with tables full of customers and an active bar. We were greeted immediately, coats hung up and on our way upstairs to the main dinning room on time. We were surprised & happy to find out it was Restaurant Week in Boston. Both the regular dinner menu & RW menu were provided and we were pleased to see a (4) course meal @ $38 ea. on the RW menu. The Wine Flight was an additional charge. Our Selections: 1- Bruschetta & Artichoke Salad, 2-Rigatoni & Risotto 3-Hanger Steak & Stuffed Cabbage, and 4-Blueberries & Cream and Black Forest Cake + Coffee. All delivered with ease and professionalism by a wait person that valued our business. Plus everything came out of the kitchen prepared properly with tastes that lasted to the next course and beyond. Glass of Italian wine; San Luigi Dolcetto & Braida Il Baciale - What more can one require from a restaurant! (OK lowering wine prices in restaurants would be nice but that's for another time) My Score: 4.7 out of 5
