La Mirabelle Ratings and Reviews
The food was great and the service was excellent. The place was very comfortable and welcoming. It was a little out of the way for a Theater night but worth the effort and right near the trains so pretty easy to get to. All in all, a delicious meal and very relaxing.
Mirabelle has returned to its traditional standard of excellence. All three of us had the filet Mignon special and it was incredibly good. The same can be said for the oyster appetizer and the home made tart dessert. We had a wonderful bottle of red wine that was completely emptied by the end of the meal. The service is quite good. We were warmly welcomed and treated throughout the evening as if we were special. I can't wait to go back.
We love La Mirabelle. Been going there for family dinners for years and years. I love the artichoke and salmon and my husband and daughter love the steak frites. Service is excellent - you get treated like family. Crime brûlée and chocolate mousse always seem to make it onto our table too. May seem like an older crowd but we think it quite hip. To us great warm service and awesome food are always in style.
This remains one of my all tome favorite restaurants. I was there yesterday for brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. As always, they were gracious and appropriately attentive. Our food was delicious and the presentation is always terrific. I hope that more people will realize what a special venue this is... and, you can make a reservation for brunch (and not have to stand on line to wait for a table!).
Our second time at Mirabelle's we remain smitten with this restaurant. The host and servers are so welcoming and personable, efficient and professional. I ordered their sparkling apple cider again, Apple Bite from France. Still not sure if it is alcoholic but it's just that good. The mesclun salad is simple yet generously portioned and tossed in a homemade salad dressing that makes the salad all by itself. I tried a poached salmon special with crudités. The vegetables were actually little salads of their own, colorful, crisp yet artful and slightly dressed. The salmon was so large I took half home for another meal. Fresh, flavorful, simple fare with style and healthy too! My husband had their roasted chicken entree. Very satisfied customer. The French know chicken. All in all another wonderful meal.
As for the setting we find the seating comfortable, cheery, lighting is warm and bright enough (I can actually see my menu and meal) and we're surrounded by beautiful paintings. Our only hesitation was we went at 6 pm so we could make a show later and the restaurant was exclusively catering to senior citizens- many with walkers. We are in our 50s and felt like the kids. It was quite a surprise but I guess the time of day had something to do with it.
Great place for an authentic French food! Coquille St Jaques was excellent even though cheese instead of mashed potatoes may not agree with some! Braised spare ribs great! Had a quiet early dinner with my granddaughter. Excellent place for a special event. However, the service was not up to par!
We returned to the Mirabelle after nearly a decade since the last time we were there. We had had a superb country French meal there last time, and could not wait to go back. However, we were disappointed with the general quality of the food: a) The Salade au Chèvre Chaud had cold slices of cheese, and we sent it back for heating-up to melt the cheese a bit, b) the Moules Meunière had sand on several of the conches, which clouded the experience.
Since the original owner of the restaurant passed a few years away, we have to say that, alas, the new management simply does not live up to the quality of the cuisine as we once knew it. Très dommage...
Dinner was absolutely superb. the endive salad and the duck were great but the special appetizer was Divine!!! It was Diver Sea scallops wrapped in bacon over warmed carrot purée with aged balsamic drizzle, dried cranberries and golden raisins was out of this world. Highly recommend this restaurant as it is a neighborhood gem.
This is one of my favorite restaurants that I go to for special occasions. However, tonight the food was surprisingly only good, the service not attentive, and the place very noisy. I also was extremely cold as the air conditioning was set to a very low temperature. I want to note that I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and I noticed tonight for the first time that the staff and the management has completely changed. A year ago when I came also for my birthday I was greeted warmly. Tonight The staff was unfriendly and I didn't really know anyone. No one acknowledged my birthday even though I had made it a birthday occasion. And one seemed to speak French. It has lost its ambiance, at least for tonight.
Returned to La Mirabelle after some years. Food is as good as I remember it. Service was quite good as well. However, although I had booked an early dinner, the place was way too crowded and noisy. Could barely carry on a conversation with my guests. Tables too close together.
Lovely typical French cuisine, reasonably priced and delicious. We were three couples and wanted a place to be able to have a conversation and also enjoy good food, not an easy combination these days. La Mirabelle was perfect, and the services was attentive and so friendly. Nice wine list, and even the single glass was great and a generous pour, which I so appreciated!
The reservation was booked as a special occasion which was not acknowledged until mentioned at the end of the meal. The main meal was not very hot when presented and got cold quickly. The flavor of the meal would have been better at a warmer temperature. Service was pleasant and efficient. Dessert
Hadn’t been to Mirabelle for 20 years. Found it to be exactly as it was: warm, great food,
authentically French (our waitress channeled Piaf in a solo of La Vie en Rose). A fruit tart was so airy - best I’ve ever had. This was a go to restaurant for my brother who lives in Jersey, but he hadn’t been there for quite a while. The owner and servers recognized him and warmly welcomed him. A wonderful dinner and evening.
Mirabelle has been a neighborhood favorite for many many years. I've been coming here with friends for a long time and we always enjoy our visit. The food is French, and consistently excellent with seasonal specials. We had the duck with cherries - and the char special Both were excellent, as was the salad appetizer. We ended with the plum/apple tart (lovely) and a hot apple crepe with their amazing vanilla ice cream. The Prosecco, by the way was nice and not too sweet!
