The entrees were delicious. The appetizers were wanting. The duck rillette was rather uninspiring and the lobster ravioli had no lobster but salmon. We were told we were wrong. We were not. The sauce was rather mild, and unmemorable. The coq au vin was wonderful.
The cuisine is truly French and consistently delicious. Presentation is inviting. The menu has a wide enough selection to please the palate. This is a place to come to dine, not to gulp and run. Service is friendly and attentive. Save room for dessert.
We love La Mirabelle. Lovely, quiet room, great service, excellent, old-fashioned French food. The swordfish with nicoise sauce was superb. The calf's liver outstanding. Excellent salads and delicious desserts. The wine list is quite good, but every first choice over the last few years is not in stock. It's become comical.
Delicious and beautifully presented traditional French cuisine. Things on the menu you don't see in most NYC brasseries: sweetbreads, kidneys, half-duck roasted with plum sauce.
Wonderful escargot and goat cheese (pistachio-encrusted) salad. Venison too!
All the portions were large and take home portion for the calves liver.
Wonderful french staff. Pleasant ambiance. Highly recommend. The sound level died down after 8:15 p.m.
Cute little French restaurant, very authentic, and lovely wine list with a variety of price points.
We had a very nice celebration there. Classical Bourgeois French menu well prepared, generous portions, attentive service. Could be a bit quieter, but relative to many places these days, it is not as noisy. Will be back and recommend it
The ambiance is like a French Bistro and one of the waitresses sings “La Vie en Rose” like Edith Piaf! Certain dishes are outstanding like The Bouillabaisse, the mussels, the endive salad and others. The beautiful paintings on the walls of French scenes were painted by the same waitress who sings. The service was very good and the servers very pleasant.
Excellent food, fine selection, and an civilized atmosphere. Very fine service.
Saturday night we took our two grandchildren to La Mirabelle where we have enjoyed meals for years. They are 6 and 8 so we tried to get in early and not stay late. The restaurant was full and people earlier than us were not leaving their tables. Therefore our plan was delayed but within 15 minutes we were given a table. Next issue was waiting for service. In spite of the time delay our waitress was very apologetic and for the rest of our time at dinner we admired her hard work, politeness, good humor and effort to make our outing run as smoothly as she could. She provided plates to share, meals already plated for the kids to share, ideas how to make desserts even more child friendly and fun, etc. Our meal as usual was very good. Simply put, service people rarely can control many aspects of the job they are there to do. But when they realize what they can control -- such as their helpful, pleasant attitude -- they are making lemonade from lemons. I don't know the young woman's name in this case but we will be back and insist on you again. This is a neighborhood gem.
Love this neighborhood favorite. It's a great go-to when we want to meet friends and have some great food. Noise level is key and it's moderate and can have an adult conversation. And we even got a beautiful Edith Piaf song sung to us at our table. Brava La Mirabelle!
We love the French food here!! Always a pleasure to eat here!
This was such a charming restaurant. The food was fabulous and the service was great. The 3 of us had a variety of appetizers and entrees - all were wonderful!
Very good traditional French cuisine. The artichoke vinaigrette was great. The duck with plums was excellent. My husband liked his sole meunière very much. We loved the chocolate mousse. Service was friendly and efficient. This is an honest, no airs old time restaurant with an appealing atmosphere. A perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
We are regulars and always pleased with the food and service
What a pleasure to return to La Mirabelle with friends, to share the warm, peaceful, quiet atmosphere, delicious traditional French food and excellent, unobtrusive service. So glad we decided to share the crême brûlée with four spoons — so delicious, and a generous portion, as are all their dishes.
La Mirabelle has the best duck in the city! Attentive service has us coming back again and again.
Very nice place with good food and service though the menu seems a bit limited.
We made a reservation for a party of 3 for Friday dnight to celebrate our friend’s birthday. We were seated upstairs where the noise level became overbearing. Nice setting but ver very dark, needing a flashlight to read the menu. Bouillabaisse was over salted and the coquilles St. Jacques was too heavy on the cheese and flour. It’s a little pricy. The waitstaff was highly efficient and friendly.
The best thing about La Mirabelle is that they always make you feel at home. The food is delicious and the service is very accommodating. We go here several times a year, and have never had a bad meal. While they have had to raise their prices because of a steep rent increase, it is still reasonable considering the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service.
Lovely lovely. Delicious food. Ample portions. Caring staff. A favorite
Great authentic French restaurant - family owned and operated for generations!
Great food - great service.
Charming old fashioned French Restaurant serving standard Bistro food not including Steak frites. I had a very well prepared duck and others in my party had roast chicken and sweetbreads. The children was moist and flavorful. All were served with mashed potatoes and a medley of vegetables. Good wine list and excellent service. The atmosphere was very much quiet and welcoming. Worth a visit to the Upper Westside.
On recommendation from a friend and especially to order the calves liver we
Decided to try this place out before going to Billy Joel
Very convenient to get to vis subway so don’t worry about being up in the 80’s
Wow are we glad we did and my friend was so right about the liver. Delicious and cooked perfectly. My coquilles were also excellent. AND THE BREAD! Right back to France.
My wife’s chicken was also perfect and a higher serving
The only Miss was the onion soup was a bit bland
Our server was extremely nice
Wines by the glass excellent
Can’t wait to go back!
The food was very bland. This restaurant had been highly recommended by a friend who dine there often so we were very disappointed. Had a couple of specials / potato and leek soup and coq au vin. The soup was not good. Chicken was ok. Also ordered shrimp scamp which was flavorless. Only thing we really liked was the bread which was excellent.
Had another lovely meal my companions lamb was overdone so they brought her a new order and comped it....I’ll be going back again
Curious that the mussels were so dry and tasteless. Otherwise, pleasant and relaxing, as usual.
Great food. Great service. What else can you ask for ?
The room was excruciatingly noisy and the several breaks into song by the wait staff for birthday celebrations did not help. The special red snapper was mushy and tasteless; the only part of my main course that arrived above room temperature was the mashed potatoes.
I've been coming for years. This is an amazing place with great food, kind and welcoming staff, and a river of locals flowing through the evening. I truly cherish this restaurant and recommend it unreservedly to anyone looking for a truly wonderful evening in Manhattan.
Really, this is a cozy and lovely place to be. My friend and I had a fine time and he particularly enjoyed his meal -- and the birthday song. (You simply have to be there to realize how pleasant it is.)
Have been here many times and it never disappoints. Cordial reception and efficient service. Presentation and quality of dinners is very good.Seasonal specials are recommended. The fact that this restaurant has been around for decades speaks as to its high regard among its customers.
Old time French restaurant serving a crowd with ages to match. The only dark hair here comes from a bottle. But I love the classic French cuisine, butter and organ meats. Lipitor for all.
I was with my wife for date night! We were in the city for a long weekend with family. We wanted a night to ourselves and returned for our second visit to La Mirabelle. Everything was outstanding as it was on our first visit in October 2017.
We had a lovely evening in your charming and comfortable restaurant. The service was excellent and the food superb. I've dined at La Mirabelle several times and always had a wonderful experience. And this time was no exception. And I was particularly grateful to step into such a warm and inviting atmosphere, having just walked two long crosstown blocks with the snow beginning and the temperature dropping. Thank you for a special evening.
I love to take my mother to Mirabelle for our favorite dish, old fashioned, crispy duck. My visit this weekend for her birthday was nice, the service good and the ambiance nice and quiet enough to hear. But despite our requests for the duck to be crispy, it wasn't. One portion was not edible. The restaurant was very understanding and helpful but it was disappointing not to be able to eat this delicacy. Other than that a great experience. The kitchen is gracious about platting shared salads and desserts and we had a lovely time. Good place for a celebration particularly for more mature folks.
It is always a treat to eat at La Mirabelle. It’s a neighborhood gem where the food and service are always great. The specials are prizes. On a snowy recent night among the specials was a rich short ribs dish among others. It was perfect. Salads are great. The artichokes always wonderful and the French desserts impossible to turn down. If you hit it on the right night, the added treat is singing by a wait staff member whose voice is glorious. Happy Birthday never sounded so beautiful.
Love the food, very nice sized portions and amazing staff!!
Lovely French food and very attentive servers. Quiet, except for the occasional "Happy Birthday", which occurred 3 times among different tables. A neighborhood place, that was closing up before 11PM. They took care of us til we left. Disappointed that Mirabelle's had no Mirabelle to drink. A bit pricey, but not outrageous.
We have been coming to La Mirabelle for years. Strengths include the fact that relative to most NYC restaurants, it is actually possible to talk to your dinner companion, and the welcoming service of the 'old world feeling staff'. What has been a bit disappointing is that the food has become fairly pricey relative to other UWS restaurants and the quality is less dependable (although their pate appetizer continues to be really excellent). So--a mixed review of a restaurant we have come to for years but now have others that vie for our patronage.
