A fantastic experience and wonderful food plus superb service. I couldn’t decide what
to have because everything sounded so good. The artichoke vinaigrette was excellent as well as the duck. My husband had the pate and calves liver which he said was best he ever had.
This is now our favorite NYC French restaurant.
Always excellent. We have become regulars. Family feel and excellent service. Great Manhattans. Ate a meal filled with appetizers. Delicious. Comfy, warm, inviting. Always a great place to dine.
The bouillabaisse looked good, the onion soup and French bread were tasty, the duck was OK and the sole was mushy. The tarte was meh and the crepes were overly boozy. Our server was quite perfect. Prices are high.
The shrimp scampi was served with bland mashed potatoes instead of traditional pasta. Maybe that’s the French method but it was rather strange and unappealing. For that I give it 4 stars for food as the others at the table very much liked their entrees.
This time-tested neighborhood French restaurant is welcoming, with an authentic French menu, beautifully and traditionally prepared and presented. Never disappoints.
Good traditional French bistro fare. Family business with room between tables and nice ambience.
Excellent French food / homestyle / always delicious!
Pleasant, traditional French-styled restaurant. Good food, friendly atmosphere. Lovely performance by Danielle. Nothing artificial in style or delivery.
Worthy of a return visit
Wonderful food -
I am new to the upper west side and it has been hard to find a good restaurant-
so far I am enjoying La Mirabelle and Gennaro's
Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared! We both had the duck and loved it. We also shared the goat cheese salad and they split it in the kitchen for us without us even having to ask - such a nice touch.
A must for authentic classical French cuisine in a very warm and inviting setting.
The waitress was very nice and patient, good services Md good food.
We came for Christmas dinner. Was disappointed that they were serving a holiday menu, so the dishes I would have ordered were not available. My fish dish (a red snapper) was unfortunately over cooked. It was very crowded, so understandably, service was more brusque than usual.
For bistro food, prices were a bit steep: tab was $150+ for two appetizers, two mains and 1 glass of wine; no coffee or dessert. Food was decent, but a bit disappointing—not as good as usual here.
La Mirabelle was a delightful restaurant for a Christmas Day dinner. We had a quiet table on the balcony. The service is pleasant and attentive. The food is excellent from the appetizers through the entree - the featured roast duck - to the dessert.
La Mirabelle is a neighborhood treasure - an authentic classic French restaurant the kind they don't make anymore. The food is wonderful, the service cheery and the atmosphere very homey. Great for special occasions, or whenever you're in the mood for a great meal, never mind the cost or the calories.
We were at La mirabelle 12/24/2018 and it was a wonderful moment. The food is delicious and the team adorable.
Thank you! ☺️
It was a bit hectic when we arrived, but the wait for a table was worth it. One of the few places left in NYC where you can get luscious roast duck.
Lovely old fashioned NYC restaurant. Went for Christmas Eve dinner and the food was delicious. Would definitely go back. Might become a tradition if it stays open.
Mira belle is a throwback French restaurant. The food is delicious. I recommend the artichoke appetizer, onion soup, scallops appetizer and the roast duck entree. The chocolate mousse dessert was a little disappointing. But overall, a great night out.
Never disappoints. The food is excellent and the service is quite good. Not perfect, but pretty doggone close. If you're lucky, you might get a serenade from an old soul that has an amazing knowledge of some truly great songs.
Each time my friend and I come to NYC we try new restaurants, but one we never miss is La Mirabelle. The staff are warm and friendly and the food is superb. I can't comment on anything beyond the exquisite oysters on the half shell and ris de veau, since the thought of not having them defeats my curiosity about the rest of the menu. My friend is more eclectic and assures me everything is as beautifully done. I recommend this place to anyone visiting NYC with all its many choices.
La Mirabelle is a charming, classic neighborhood French restaurant. The room is bright and airy with cosy, rustic accents. The menu features French standards and doesn't aspire, which, as far as we were concerned, was perfect. Lamb chops, sole, salmon, arctic char (on special), duck, roast chicken, veal, sweetbreads, calves liver, pate, salads and potage are all here and done with care and competence. I spotted a steak go by and it looked magnificent. However one might call this French comfort food, it was never heavy or greasy. The wine list, dominated by French wines, is not extensive but is easy on the wallet. In addition to a cocktail, I had but one large goblet of generously poured St. Emilion Bordeaux; it was terrific with my braised lamb shank. Desserts don't disappoint either (my slice apple tart was generous enough to bring home half). Service was excellent and very friendly. This was a holiday dinner with my wife; we can happily envision bringing friends, visiting family, etc. La Mirabelle is in all ways quite accessible.
We have been going to this restaurant for 20 years now and it is favorite restaurant in the city. The food is great...never had a bad meal. The duck, lamb chops and liver (yes, I said liver) is the best. I recommend it all the time and take out of townees there all the time. It is an older crowd and you seldom see kids there.
It is also quiet and romantic.
Best food on the UWS. Fish is fantastic. Staff is welcoming and lovely. Love the restaurant.
This is a lovely haven on the westside. It is a bit pricey but on a cold night if you are looking for good food, great, friendly service , make a reservation.!!!
What a wonderful dinner.
I simply love well done classic French food in an attractive yet unpretentious setting and got just that early on Sunday night. Wanted to escape the crowded, loud and average food restaurants in midtown after a Lincoln Center matinee and come uptown to La Mirabelle.
A lovely welcome by the hostess and a perfectly served dinner by the entire waitstaff (thanks Crystal for that perfect Vesper).
The room is moderately sized and the tables were well spaced, couldn't hear neighbor conversations if we tried!
The food perfectly cooked and presented and classic.
Pate, Mushroom in pastry, Duck with plum sauce, Rack of Lamb. Followed by a berry tart special and simple Crepes and sugar.
Excellent and fairly priced Bordeaux.
Clientele skewed older early but became much younger later.
An excellent evening, thanks.
2 visiting NYC from north Carolina.
If you are looking for a French restaurant away from the bustle of mid-town manhattan this is your spot.
Suggest going after 8pm as before that crowded and moderately noisy if go on weekend. Begins emptying around 9pm much nicer. Limited wine list but priced very reasonable (2X retail)-Bourdeaux list and prices very good. Venison spectacular with sauce to die for. Don't pass crepes as dessert-you will be pleasantly surprised. Chef and pastry chefs must be pretty good!!!
nice, cozy place. Good food and wine.
An older restaurant with an older staff and a very calm vibe. My venison was perfectly cooked, but the sauce it was drenched in was very sweet. Vegetables were overlooked but a nice selection including fennel. Very nice wine by the glass. I would certainly try it again.
I had a good feeling the moment I walked into La Mirabelle and that feeling proved spot on. From being serenaded by Danielle to an absolutely scrumptious meal, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The mushroom fricassee appetizer was sublime, our entrees (two steak au poivre, a rack of lamb and the sole) were cooked to perfection. We paired our meal with a spicy St. Emilion that was just right. The ambiance completed our experience - busy but not crazy and we were not rushed at all. On a scale of 1-10, this was a perfect 10. Can't wait to come back!
We love the consistently excellent food and the welcoming family ambience.
La Mirabelle is a delight. Where else would you get the finest French food, generous portions, the friendliest staff, an inviting and comfortable ambiance, and a level of noise that allows you to hear what your friends are saying? Give yourself a treat and go!
Wonderful as always.
A neighborhood gem that offers excellent service, quiet conversations, and well cooked French cuisine at reasonable prices.
My favorite restaurant in NYC
Some dishes very good (duck breast) others not (Monkfish). Vegetables overcooked. Dessert (apple tartin) disappointing.
Consistently lovely food and service, La Mirabelle remains one of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is welcoming and all the staff will do anything to please the customers. The duck dishes are a must!!
A nice venue for classic French food in mid-town.
A nice evening.
Always a great experience. Service excellent and attentive. Food wonderful. Everything from the steak to the cod special to the calves lovers and veal kidneys. The steamed artichoke to start was just beautiful and delicious. Great cocktails. Great wine. Prices are reasonable. We’ve been here 10 or 12 times so it’s about time we put our review in.
Family business with great ambience. Older crowd that isn’t talking on their cell phones or surfing the web; what a relief! Food is consistently good and reasonably priced. Service is very friendly which leads to a little too much chatting with the repeat customers.
Would definitely recommend.
