The food was very bland. This restaurant had been highly recommended by a friend who dine there often so we were very disappointed. Had a couple of specials / potato and leek soup and coq au vin. The soup was not good. Chicken was ok. Also ordered shrimp scamp which was flavorless. Only thing we really liked was the bread which was excellent.
Had another lovely meal my companions lamb was overdone so they brought her a new order and comped it....I’ll be going back again
Curious that the mussels were so dry and tasteless. Otherwise, pleasant and relaxing, as usual.
Great food. Great service. What else can you ask for ?
The room was excruciatingly noisy and the several breaks into song by the wait staff for birthday celebrations did not help. The special red snapper was mushy and tasteless; the only part of my main course that arrived above room temperature was the mashed potatoes.
I've been coming for years. This is an amazing place with great food, kind and welcoming staff, and a river of locals flowing through the evening. I truly cherish this restaurant and recommend it unreservedly to anyone looking for a truly wonderful evening in Manhattan.
Really, this is a cozy and lovely place to be. My friend and I had a fine time and he particularly enjoyed his meal -- and the birthday song. (You simply have to be there to realize how pleasant it is.)
Have been here many times and it never disappoints. Cordial reception and efficient service. Presentation and quality of dinners is very good.Seasonal specials are recommended. The fact that this restaurant has been around for decades speaks as to its high regard among its customers.
I was with my wife for date night! We were in the city for a long weekend with family. We wanted a night to ourselves and returned for our second visit to La Mirabelle. Everything was outstanding as it was on our first visit in October 2017.
We had a lovely evening in your charming and comfortable restaurant. The service was excellent and the food superb. I've dined at La Mirabelle several times and always had a wonderful experience. And this time was no exception. And I was particularly grateful to step into such a warm and inviting atmosphere, having just walked two long crosstown blocks with the snow beginning and the temperature dropping. Thank you for a special evening.
I love to take my mother to Mirabelle for our favorite dish, old fashioned, crispy duck. My visit this weekend for her birthday was nice, the service good and the ambiance nice and quiet enough to hear. But despite our requests for the duck to be crispy, it wasn't. One portion was not edible. The restaurant was very understanding and helpful but it was disappointing not to be able to eat this delicacy. Other than that a great experience. The kitchen is gracious about platting shared salads and desserts and we had a lovely time. Good place for a celebration particularly for more mature folks.
It is always a treat to eat at La Mirabelle. It’s a neighborhood gem where the food and service are always great. The specials are prizes. On a snowy recent night among the specials was a rich short ribs dish among others. It was perfect. Salads are great. The artichokes always wonderful and the French desserts impossible to turn down. If you hit it on the right night, the added treat is singing by a wait staff member whose voice is glorious. Happy Birthday never sounded so beautiful.
Love the food, very nice sized portions and amazing staff!!
Lovely French food and very attentive servers. Quiet, except for the occasional "Happy Birthday", which occurred 3 times among different tables. A neighborhood place, that was closing up before 11PM. They took care of us til we left. Disappointed that Mirabelle's had no Mirabelle to drink. A bit pricey, but not outrageous.
We have been coming to La Mirabelle for years. Strengths include the fact that relative to most NYC restaurants, it is actually possible to talk to your dinner companion, and the welcoming service of the 'old world feeling staff'. What has been a bit disappointing is that the food has become fairly pricey relative to other UWS restaurants and the quality is less dependable (although their pate appetizer continues to be really excellent). So--a mixed review of a restaurant we have come to for years but now have others that vie for our patronage.
One of my favorites. Had the rack of lamb. Exquisite. After my regular Coquille St. Jacques.
My friend had the Watercress special soup, special Endive salad and the Veal Chop. We were so happy. The flavors and freshness were perfect. We always enjoy are time at Mirabelle. A must for people who love real, authentic French food.
I am sorry to say that La Mirabelle did not live up to our expectations. The restaurant is pretty and comfortable. The service is very good. And the food is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my scallops with berries (terrific) and my liver, a treat I have not enjoyed in as long as I can remember. My husband's sweetbreads and coquilles St. Jacques were also excellent.
But it doesn't matter how good the food or surroundings are if you must dine in silence because the noise level in the restaurant is so extraordinarily loud that you must wear ear plugs (yes, ear plugs) to have any conversation at all. It was so awful that after a while we didn't care what we ate--we just wanted to get out of there. Be sure to stay away from upstairs seating when the restaurant is hosting a party of more than 4.
What a disappointment.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Portions were both delicious and plentiful....
Highly recommend this family owned restaurant
Classic French cuisine with a dose of singing. Overall good to excellent
Dinner with cousins from Georgia I haven’t seen in a year. They loved it!!!! It was perfect in every way! No rush! Great food! Great service! Shared food is divided in the kitchen which is so gracious!! Favorite west side restaurant!!
If you’re looking for authentic French cuisine.. this is the place to go. Escargot melts in your mouth, striped sea bass is so soft and flavorful, and the duck is something you want to try! I’m not a huge game meat person, but this was by far... amazing. The wine selection is great.. we split a bottle of Chateau de Mille Anges, highly recommend for a reasonably priced, full bodied wine.
Reminds you of a little piece of France. Great food, good ambience and good value!
The best. Delicious foods, great friendly service. Just like being in Paris.
Great food and excellent service. We both had fis and it was cooked to perfection.
Love the atmosphere, service was great, cheerful and accommodating. Our meal was delicious. Our lobster ravioli was delicious. My husband loved his roast duck and I had a great almond crusted red snapper. We're locals and found the pricing a tad high for a neighborhood restaurant.
My husband's favorite restaurant...they have sweetbreads on their permanent menu and he's thrilled.
La Mirabelle is a great neighborhood place. The food is always excellent and the staff is attentive and friendly. I usually get the sole veniremen. This time I got the almond crusted red snapper. Very good choice. There is no problem hearing your dinner companions.
So excited to find a French restaurant that is neither a casual bistro nor a fancy place of haute cuisine. It's the perfect blend of comfort and excellent taste and service for the discriminating diner. Will definitely be back!
Always great! Can’t wait for soft shell crab season!
We have been here many times And always love the place. This time we found the food to be mediocre and expensive and a little disappointing.
A great favorite, for a lo-o-o-ong time. Feels like home--with excellent food, and friendly art.
Still my favorite restaurant in NYC!!!
We love this neighborhood staple and have been coming for years, but observed that we must have been there recently on an off night for the kitchen. It will not stop us from coming back.
One of my very favorite NYC restaurants. I’ve taken several friends here when we visit. They all thought it was charming, delicious and authentic.
Wonderful service and the food is nothing short of fabulous! La Mirabelle is akin to places we’ve been in Paris we’ll definitely be back!
La Mirabelle is our second home, like dining at home with close friends.
Celebrated my mother-in-law's 95th birthday with family. My in-laws started going to La Mirabelle in 1986 and it quickly became the neighborhood favorite.
Thank you all for making this celebration memorable, especially with Danielle's exquisite serenades.
With warmest regards,
Lovely, traditional French food and ambiance. Service was personal and exceptional by both the hostess and the waiter. Food was exquisite! (Only reason not giving five stars is that they were out of three things we tried to order.)
This is a very charming and very authentic French restaurant. Food is excellent and service is good. Comfortable to have conversation, not too noisy and very classy atmosphere, yet relaxed.
