About La Mia Cucina
Stroll along 17th St., between Lighthouse and Laurel and you will find one of the Peninsula’s favorite spots, La Mia Cucina. This little jewel, with its fresh ambiance and tantalizing menu, is popular with everyone. The colorful European advertising posters that enliven the walls, are “originals, not reproductions.” That phrase is accurate in describing La Mia Cucina itself. From the comfortable linen white decor, accented beautifully by those turn-of-the-century posters, to the hand-crafted entrees and desserts, everything about La Mia Cucina says fresh and original. Owner Michael’s specialty, his ravioli dishes, are a renowned local favorite, and for good reason. They are hand made, with all the care that only a lifetime of creative food combining can bring. In addition to pasta, La Mia Cucina is known for it's fresh fish and meat specials. The desserts are made in-house by his wife Paula and daughter Michaela, and the service is personal and inviting.

La Mia Cucina Ratings and Reviews
We had a very enjoyable evening, the owners were there and made everyone feel welcome. A very pleasant ambiance, tables nice spaced so even though everyone was occupied we didn't feel squeezed at all, attentive server. Food was excellent, two of us had the lasagna special, one a vegetarian pasta and the fourth a steak. The deserts looked wonderful, but we were all full and passed. We will be back.
Took my wife for our anniversary. Food in general was quite good. Italian sausage, red sauce, salad with heirloom tomatoes were all fantastic. Creme brulee was average. Our server Giovanni was also spectacular. You could tell he has been doing this a while and made our special night even better.
What a fantastic experience! Gracious hosts Paula and Michael made for an incredibly warm and lovely time. The vibe is incredible in that it is casual yet elegant, not stuffy and yet super special, like a true Italian table. Our family (yes, including our young son) were welcomed with open arms and treated with such respect and joy for my husband's birthday dinner for three. That doesn't even touch on how incredible the meal was. As delicious and pure as anything I had in Italy. The lobster bisque is still haunting me with its allure. Thank you, La Mia Cucina! We can't wait to return! :-)
Consistently good food and service. We’ve been here numerous times and experience is consistently outstanding. One of the gems of Pacific Grove, not often mentioned in the food apps and guides but well worth your time. Their pizza place next door is also great.
We found this restaurant on the last night of a girls' vacation. Had we found it earlier, we would have been every night. We were treated like we were friends. The owner, chef owner and waiters could not have been more friendly and attentive. Not to mention the food was delicious from the bruschetta, homemade forcaccia with olive oil and balsamic to the delicious entrees. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. Unfortunately I live on the east coast!
Good Italian food--especially enjoyed the Caesar salad. Eggplant parmigiana was very tasty, though the presentation--solid, on a plate with some other items--was not as appealing or delicious as in the soupy, traditional oval pan or ramekin. Waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Only serious complaint was the corkage, truly excessive at $25!
La Mia Cucina is a must-do every time we visit the Monterey Peninsula. Chef Michael never fails to please us with his offerings, and the seafood bolognese special last night was amazing! And we never pass up the strawberry shortcake, either! Thank you, Michael, for everything.
loved both meals we enjoyed there this summer ,and we will definitely look forward to returning in the months ahead. The absolute best strawberry shortcake in America ! and I am not a big dessert eater .....delicious salads, fresh fish, and perfect pastas . The owners are adorable ,and you feel they really want you to have a lovely time - there is a wonderful ambiance in this small, well-rn dining room with all the wait staff wearing professional white aprons . Very nice touch !
Read about the outstanding italian here...For those visiting from the east...this is strictly west-coast Italian... Veggies everywhere...I get it...but...
Whatever happened to garlic? the dipping oil had olive oil and BALSAMIC VINEGARETE...???
The red sauce was bland...little character...
Otherwise is was a good try...nice staff...clean...
We went here for a birthday dinner. We arrived early for our reservation and they were able to seat us early. The service was great. The wine was excellent. The menu has a lot to choose from, and we all had different items, all of which were wonderful! We will be back.
Our visit to La Mia Cucina was for a birthday celebration. The restaurant sits on a side street of downtown Pacific Grove, with a very cute interior. It is intimate, but adequate for our group of 6. The hostess was sweet and chatty, the waiter was engaging and we found that his daughter lived near our home town. The food was authentic, Sand Dabs were delic, as was the Sausage pasta dish, Meat sauce and as I recall, everyone's plates were empty. Desert was delightful and the wine list had many of our favorites. Thanks for helping us celebrate Gma's birthday
I was excited to try this place after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, there was must left to be desired. One could tell the owners have built up a regular base of customers, so the atmosphere was friendly and vibrant. We started with the arancini and burrata, both pretty good (you really can't go wrong with burrata). We ordered the veal piccata and the farfalle bolognese, and both were bland and one-noted (and I've never seen so many capers in a piccata dish). The service was lacking in attentiveness. The server asked for our water preference, but never actually asked us if we wanted anything else to drink (which we thought was a bit odd). Only midway did I realize we hadn't ordered wine, but by that time, it wasn't worth it.
New visit to Pacific Grove, researched on-line and was interested in this small family venue and was overly happily surprised. Raved about it afterwards to patrons I ran into. Food was homemade and over the top delicious, service was impeccable. So so so impressed '
Everyone in our party of 5 loved their meal. The salads were exceptional, the wine delicious and a good value, and the main courses were to die for. My son who lives in LA even said he might drive the five hours back up at some point just to have dinner. The chef stopped by our table several times to see how we were enjoying the food, and the staff was very accommodating to our bringing in a birthday cake for our celebration! Will definitely dine again!
We enjoyed the setting-an uncrowded dining room with vintage posters beautifully framing the room. Good service and atmosphere-food was average Italian, a bit pricey for the quality, though serving size was generous. Perhaps we would return and order other items- it was actually still a pleasant experience.
We love this restaurant and the food. We were visiting for a week and ate there twice. The owners are very friendly and this is definitely a local place since everyone knows everyone. The pasta is home made and delicious--very rich . We had the lobster ravioli and the meat/spinach ravioli--both were delicious and the pasta is so light. This is always on our list of restaurants to visit when in town.
