We have been in Princeton for over 15 years and our food is adored by both locals and tourists alike. Our menu changes seasonally and we offer special dishes during major holidays.
Risotto cooked in a pesto sauce with jumbo shrimp, bay scallops, calamari & mussels
Romaine tossed in a homemade Caesar dressing, topped with fresh croutons
Calamari Fritti for Mr. Rogers
Shallow-fried calamari served with a touch of balsamic glaze & marinara sauce
The reason I only gave 2 stars for service was that we had a reservation and were not seated for 30 min after our reservation time. I know things happen, but the restaurant ought to have offered to comp part of the meal at the very least. It's a small space and there isn't anywhere to wait, other than outside.
Once seated, service was very good. Salads were excellent, but the pasta dishes were good, not stellar.
Red wine was served on the warm side, I don't think they are storing the bottles properly.
The food is always so good! We like to get the gnocchi and the duck salad. You can't go wrong!
The food was fantastic but we waited about an hour for our appetizer.
Father’s Day early dinner with family. Everyone loved the food. Bronzino and pork Osso bucco were the hits. Been there several times and will definitely be back. Service is very attentive. .
My favorite place to go for special occasions. The food is delicious and the staff are extremely friendly.
Father’s Day lunch - service was very friendly and helpful. Appetizers were okay. Mains were disappointing. Flavors either too strong or too weak. Meat sauce had two little pieces of meat.
This was my first time and definitely not the last. I traveled far and it was worth the trip. Food was amazing and the staff so professional and friendly. Great service and very accommodating. Thank you for a fantastic evening...
Not much ambiance but excellent food and service!
It’s great to find a place where everyone from the bus boys to the wait staff to the maître d’ seem genuinely happy that you’re there. Beautiful meal, beautiful service. Will return. The Bronzino was cooked perfectly over a bed of delicious lobster risotto. My guest enjoyed her chicken in a creamy wine sauce.
Our alfresco meal was delightful: the food was prepared well, our server was both pleasant and efficient, and our special requests were satisfied. I highly recommend La Mezzaluna!
Honestly they were overwhelmed. We waited ONE HOUR for anyone to come take our order and that only happened because they came to take the table next to us - who waited 45 minutes so we asked if we could order as well. Thank goodness they brought us bread the hour before when we got there! They didn't have enough help.
The veal dish was good but not as tender as I would have liked, but the marsala sauce was perfect.
It's BYO so that's good.
Ate outdoors on side of building. Prompt and friendly service. Yummy food.
Food is very good good; been there multiple times. Servers are very nice, but service itself is verrrrrry slow. Not good about refilling water glasses or checking in.
Improve the service level and it's a 5 star restaurant. As is, be prepared to be patient.
We were so happy to be back dining at La Mezzaluna again. The food is wonderful; I had the veal and italian sausage in a marsala sauce; my wife had the Branzino with shrimp risotto. Risotto is a specialty and it is always fantastic. The wait staff were very welcoming and very attentive. We will be back again soon to enjoy another great meal.
The Open Table blurb made it seem like a reasonably nice restaurant. This place feels like a diner - but with a menu that sounds fancy. But when the food comes, it is ordinary - no subtlety, and nothing really good. Even the cappuccinos at the end of dinner were undrinkable. The burrata on a slice of tasteless tomato and undercooked eggplant was embarrassing - the pesto sauce was tasteless and awful. And the wine list is just a bunch of bottles from a mediocre winery in CA - and the wine was B+ at best. The waiter didn't even allow us to taste it - but just opened it and poured a full glass. What a terrible place. Avoid it at all costs.
The food is always perfect. Excellent server. We have been going here for more than 15 years and always have a good experience.
Very good food, server was very friendly. Overall a wonderful experience.
Looking for the duck salad to be offered without the duck - many more people will purchase.
The food and ambiance were fabulous. They were very attentive to my food allergies and kept my water glass full. The waiter was distracted at times and took a while to respond to a question about dessert ingredients.
Loved it! They were very accommodating and loved the staff!
I was very disappointed with the service. After getting the appetizers we placed our order for the main course. They completely forgot about our order. They apologized after we questioned them but my kids were starving and lost appetite by the time the food was delivered.
Have been here many times and the food is always fresh & delicious.
Sadan is the best- always a pleasure when he’s taking care of us’
Just Visiting from Long Island - from the owner, host, server and busboy - all around great !!! Would give any Manhattan Restaurant a run for their money - Food was excellent !!! Will definitely dine here again when in the area!!!!
Overrated. The food was very good, with the exception of one entree (all the shellfish in the Linguine Marechiaro was overcooked). Unfortunately, like many places these days, they were woefully understaffed for the number of tables they were trying to cover. Our server was pleasant and cordial enough, but there was not enough of him to go around. The young busboy kept looking for plates to take - I finally had to scold him to stay away until we were finished with our appetizers and entrees. Poor training. In no hurry to return.
Nice experience... good food... nice staff. Just had to slow them down with the speed of the courses otherwise we would have blew through the meal.
Overall very nice meal, very nice staff and management. Would definitely go back..... enjoy!!!!
Great BYOB place. Owner was terrific and staff was great at timing when to approach the table for refills/ordering next course.
I ordered the shrimp and scallop risotto scampi. I realize this is a garlic dish however the garlic flavor was overpowering and the scallops were very rubbery. I would not return to Mezaluna
We dined outdoors in a very comfortable and lively setting in the street hour waiter, William was very attentive and professional. The food was outstanding. The osso bucco was so tender you didn’t even need a knife I would recommend that delicious meal to anyone!
Service was on the slow side, we were not in a hurry so it was good for us. They opened our wine quickly and gave us bread, who could ask for anything more.
The food was excellent, The portions were generous, we were sharing salads, and they split them in two which was a pleasant surprise.
We received enough attention from the wait staff to give us what we needed but enough space so we can enjoy each other’s company.
We ate outside which was amazing, so thrilled that it’s an option. I hope that after the pandemic is over Princeton still allows the restaurants to continue to serve outside.
Thanks to all that helped make our night out very enjoyable. We will definitely be back.
This was a great time. Well-cooked food, attentive waiters, and good ambience. No complaints.
Food was excellent, but service a bit lacking. Had to flag down a waiter to order our main courses; seems like he forgot we had only ordered appetizers. Maybe they were understaffed.
Not a terrible thing, but took one star off for service.
Again food was excellent. Four people had different entrees and agreed each was excellent.
Food is always consistently very good but service is impeccable. Every server, manager, busser and owners consistently show concern to ensure that all is perfect. kudos's to this establishment and will continue returning and recommending.
Everything was acceptable. Nothing exceptional, so the prices seemed a little steep for the product but on par for the Princeton are. Waitstaff were lovely and prompt, but kitchen was overwhelmed. We'll probably go again to give it another shot.
Service was slow - otherwise excellent place. Good food. Should have wiser wine selection.
Ate outdoors which was our preference, was busy Sat night on Princeton graduation weekend. Food was great, runners were often confused with which table to serve, and our leftovers never made it back. Still was very good experience. BYOB always a big plus.
Great service and food!
wonderful meal including a personal service of cooking next to the table by owner/chef
