La Merenda is one of the best restaurants in MKE.
We love La Merenda-it is our favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. It is our go to place if relatives are in town or just a fun time for friends to get together. The food is superb and the wait staff are incredibly attentive. What more can I say?
We haven't been there in a while, glad to see La Merenda hasn't lost a step.
Still one of the best restaurants in Milwaukee.
It is a great place to go and try different items. Three of ordered three rounds - 3 appetizers, 3 main dishes and 2 desserts. We loved the variety and quality of food. We also liked that it is locally sourced. Although a little pricey for our every day budget; it's a great place to treat yourself. I like the quirkiness of the mismatched tables and chairs. Service was superb. I definitely plan to go again.
I really wanted to love this place. Just liked it. While La Merenda has a great atmosphere and incredibly intriguing dishes, all of which I wanted desperately to try, the restaurant came up short in two keys areas - service and, sadly, food.
Our server seemed attentive at first. The took our drink orders right away and we were served what we ordered promptly. When she returned with our drinks, she asked if we were ready to order. Our group was still making pleasantries and hadn't looked at the menu so we asked for a couple minutes. Well, a couple minutes turned into 15. The woman was nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, this was the trend for the rest of the evening...and the length of time between seeing our server kept increasing. We would have had better lucky getting an efficient water refill in the Sahara.
As for the food, every single dish that came out was over-salted. Hence the need for so many water refills! Many dishes (crepes, gnocchi, empanadas) were borderline inedible The dishes truly had everything going for them. Sadly, someone was overly generous with the salt.
I do hope that the food issue was just a bad night for the chef. I'll give La Merenda a second chance, but that's all they'll get.
Creative and wonderful food plus half price wine-a perfect evening!
It’s our 4th time here and it never disappoints. This place is amazing. Our favorites were the fundito, empanadas, and the aregentinian beef. Literally everything we ordered was excellent. It’s best to go as a large group so you can order more!
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Always amazing food and amazing service. The chef, Peter Sandroni never disappoints!
Very smart idea for putting your phones in a container. discounts after if you keep your phone in entire time. Would like to win discounts that would apply to your current tab and not come back, but that's only because I'm from out of town.
Everything we ordered was wonderful and on some items, even better than the description. We asked ourselves "Why are we not coming here more often?" Really great!
Have been going to this restaurant for the past 10 years and never dissapoints me.
We love this place!!
I took my gal on a post-Valentines day meal to La Merenda based on all of the excellent reviews and because she hasn't been there yet. We totally enjoyed the food even though the cevechy & the spinach in the grilled pork were way too salty. The salad we ordered was great! As for ambiance, there was a nice vibe but the table next to us had a woman who laughed WAY TOO LOUD, to the point of being obnoxious and somewhat spoiling the evening. This is the 2nd time I've been there and will probably go again....only if that loud woman doesn't show up.. :/
Favorite Milwaukee restaurant! Great food and atmosphere. Also love that they encourage diners to put their phones in a jar rather than usung them while they're dining. At the end, you even receive a fun prize for participating.
Always excellent... from the service to the food to the valet ... consistently excellent. The hand pies were outstanding as a special .
We ordered 5 dishes. The cheese plate and green salad were tasty, but unexciting. The Argentinian beef was completely flavorless and was grey in color. It was tender, but way way under seasoned. The potstickers tasted ok, but they were swimming in broth so there was no crispy side. The texture was mushy and gummy. The only really delicious plate was the duck and rabbit gnocchi which was perfectly seasoned and just scrumptious. Unfortunately it was hard to enjoy it after such a disappointing meal overall.
I took 4 friends to La Meranda and we had great time. We were seated at round table which was perfect for conversation and very comfortable noise level for conversation. The menu of small plates is great to share and and well prepared. Portions good for 2 to share or 1/2 small serving for 4. Makes for interesting dinner. Pace was nice as something was always coming. Everything hot and seasoned well. I recommend risotto, Argentinian beef and shrimp dish. We enjoyed all and the final tab was very reasonable for all. Unfortunately we arrived before Valet parking available so had to park around block in the snow. Go in the summer too to sit outside patio.
We LOVE La Merenda and have brought so many friends and family members who also rave about it, too. Can't get enough of this wonderful spot!
Your restaurant never fails to make me feel special and the food was killer as always
This is a great place to go with friends and have a good time and enjoy unique food.
Excellent as always! Wonderful flavors. Lots of gluten free options and variety to keep everyone happy.
One of my favorite restaurants in town. The food is always an adventure, the wait staff attentive & good energy all around!
I had the Argentinian style beef. First time I have NOT liked a meal. The beef texture was chewy and didn't appear grilled enough. I sent the meal back and it was taken off of my bill. This however will not deter me from returning or recommending La Merenda.
First time there-loved it. Took my wife and daughter, tried new things. Food and service were great
The little plates were fabulous and just the perfect amount on each plate for the four of us. We tried 5 plates and a dessert; we loved every bite! Lots of happy dinner sounds coming from our lovely corner table. Before dinner we sat at the bar-- I must say, the Spiced Pear Old fashioned was a lovely complex drink. Our service through out the evening was exceptional.
Excellent value and food. Still one of the best in MKE.
One of our favorites! Food is consistently good and well prepared. Never disappointed.
This was our 4th time at La Merenda & each time the food is so good. I love the small plates so you can share with the group & order lots of variety one dish after another. Had some great Spanish wine with the flavors. Need reservations!
We booked a team dinner for 7 recently. Sampled about 12 small plates and 2 desserts along with a bottle (or two) of wine. Every single dish was fabulous. The table was in agreement that the empanadas were a great start. Most notable was the Korean BBQ bowl on special that night. I would recommend group dining so that you can order several dishes and pass them around. The service was great, too. Our waitress was ready to answer our questions and make suggestions. She staggered delivery of dishes so we'd all have time to pass plates without the meals getting cold. Highly recommend. I can't wait to go again.
Great service, delicious food with "local" food sources!
Love, love, love this restaurant for the food it serves (Organic Vegetables and Alaskan Salmon). The food is excellent in preparation and quality of the products it prepares. We love the staff and would dine there more frequently if only we could get a reservation. You've got to think ahead or you will miss some of the best food Milwaukee has to offer. We are NEVER disappointed! Almost forgot--the Car Bomb is just the icing on the cake! A perfect way to end a fabulous dinner. Thank you LaMerenda for caring about food like you do!
La Merenda is worth a long wait, or planning well in advance. Once you taste anything that the chef and his staff prepare, you will know that you have found a restaurant that you will return to many times. The diverse food offerings are incredible. You can dine on food from almost any continent on the face of the Earth. It is also nice that the menu changes on a regular basis. This place is phenomenal. The only criticism I have is the lack of a proper craft beer menu. I understand why wine is the focus, but with the craft beer industry as strong as it is right now, I believe La Merenda may be missing out on a demographic that enjoys to pay for food that's worth it! That said, the few beers available are good enough because the food is so unbelievably good.
Love the sharing of excellent food with great friends. If you do too, La Marenda is the place for you! All dishes come in 2-4 pieces, perfect for sharing. My party of 4 shared 5 items, each one as good as the last. Best word to describe...savory!
The food here is absolutely amazing! Very interesting mix of flavors which no place in Milwaukee can compare too.
We were able to finally go to La Merenda for dinner and were not disappointed. A tapas restaurant, known for sharing dishes, several were so good we ordered duplicates. The homemade sangria was also quite good, available by pitcher. (We also ordered two pitchers!!) Dessert is also a must with scrumptious chocolate dishes. We hope to return soon and highly recommend!
A great place to go with another couple who will enjoy sharing the many flavors available. The pumpkin ravioli was a table favorite on this visit.
Great joint for Tapas food. I was surprised though, I was charged additional $20 for making open table reservation, which I was not ready for.
A bit of an eclectic menu, done very well. Casual and comfortable atmosphere. The menu items are unique and excellent.
Me and my husband come here 2-3 times a month. Never dissapointed with the food we order. Goat cheese curds are a must along with the the pork empanadas. Only negative would be food comes out before drinks arrive almost every time. But we love it here!
I always love the specials. They are fantastic, flavorful and unique. You can't go wrong with any of their house made sausages either. La Merenda gives Milwaukee, aka Sausage Town USA, a great place to have some of the most inventive and mouth watering sausages around!
