La Merenda is a bar and grill located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that specializes in serving globally inspired cuisine, local beers and wine. The restaurant offers casual dining and complimentary valet parking.
La Merenda has an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible, so the menu is constantly being updated with new dishes based on available ingredients. The main menu at La Merenda offers a selection of snacks, seafood and meat entres. Menu selections include such dishes as Wisconsin farmers salad, seasonal vegetable tart, market fish fiorentina, Singapore noodles with Gulf shrimp and Chinese sausage, Beijing duck and pork confit cavatelli.
I appreciate the eclectic menu of tapas they offer, however the vegetarian options are limited. The vegetarian empanadas were delicious and the asian shrimp dish was ok (shrimp was very salty and the noodles were served cold, which was unexpected.
Place has great atmosphere. Are service was great. Like how they didn't leave dirty dishes on are table after each dish we finish. Mix drinks can be little bigger for price they are charging. Food not so great. If you like heavy pour of salt on your meals then you will enjoy this place. Maybe chief was having bad cook night. Desserts were delicious.
Food is creative and delicious. Always enjoy meals here.
It was my first time at La Merenda, I was super impressed with the food and atmosphere. I will recommend and I will be back.
This place never disappoints! Amazing food and cocktails. Brought friends here from out of town and they thought it was outstanding as well!
La Merenda is a special place. Every dish we ordered was scrumptious and interesting. The Tres Leches cake is outstanding. We had such a good time!
Went for the first time and absolutely loved everything we ate. My sister is vegan and enjoyed the empanadas!
As always, the food and service were exceptional.
Delicious food and great service (thanks Nikki) made our special evening special.
This restaurant never disappoints. They have their standby selections, but are always bringing new tapas to the menu. The service is impeccable and and the food is fresh and delicious.
La Merenda is one of my favorite spots in Milwaukee because their food and wine is wonderful and a great value compared to most higher end restaurants. They are always switching up the menu, the staff is friendly, the ambience warm, and they cater to their customers with free valet parking!!!
Splendid experience all around! This is our go to restaurant for any occasion with family or friends, and we have relatives from Norway who rave about La Merenda.
The food was amazing. Every single bite tasted like it was made with love.
Fantastic food and service. Always a great time!
My husband and I decided to venture downtown for a night out. When we lived downtown years ago, we went to La Merenda often, and LOVED it. Our first dish was a lamb special- it was SO salty, which we told the waiter. We got 3 more dishes, and ALL were almost inedible due to the high sodium content (black bean crepes, a trout dish, and a pork and chorizo dish). Service was mediocre. We won’t be going back again. Disappointed.
Still the best tapas place in Milwaukee!
Wonderful combination of great influences from around the world.
Exceptional per usual. Rachel was our Server and every recommendation was better than the last. She made the experience most enjoyable.
Wife’s birthday! Our server was very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. Food was amazing as usual!
We were a little rushed and the food was quite salty. Otherwise, great for a quick bite to eat.
We found the way the items were coursed to be a bit odd. Salad came first which makes sense but then was followed by the ribeye which we expected to come last given its a heavier meat. Potatoes came third, then the vegetable tart, octopus and we finished with the goat cheese curds.
Many bites of the plates we ordered were very salty (the pistachio salad being the saltiest, maybe the dressing had too much salt?) The ribeye was well done in most parts when supposed to be medium rare. Positives: Restaurant was very cute and service was great. A lot of other items to try so we’d probably give it another shot.
This restaurant has it all. Taste locally sourced and creatively prepared tapas in a casual laid back environment. Great wine list that covers affordable all the way to special. Even if you just stop in to have a glass of wine and a plate at the bar, this is worth the trip.
Staff is always ready to help you with your choices.
The food was excellent. The two of us were there for dinner and we ordered 6 different dishes. It was great. Will come again.
Just simply amazing!! I’ve never had a bad meal here! Loved your new veal dish!!!!
Superb as usual. Great to bring business colleagues or friends. Absolutely one of our favorites
Another fabulous meal w/ friends at one of our favorite Milwaukee spots. Food is outstanding and service to match, never rushing anything to the table.
Great food and very good value.
One of our top hangouts always good, great food and great service!
The staff dragged tables/chairs across the floor to reset after a large group left. It was really loud and lacked consideration of diners.
This was my date’s favorite restaurant but she was really disappointed. With the exception of the beef empanadas, the food was below average. One of the dishes, I can’t recall the name, but it was served on skewers with potatoes, chorizo and one other meat and it was sooo salty it was pretty I editable. Thanks to the sauce it diminished the feeling that you were eating a salt lick.
The waitresses demeanor was average.
The fact that regular NA beers weren’t available was very disappointing. Not everyone wants flavor infused beers.
What I was trying to make a special experience for myself and my date turned out to be something we were both disappointed in. So much so she wondered what had transpired to make her absolute favorite restaurant turn into such a poor dining experience.
Great food! everything was cook perfect will go again and again and again!
Enjoyed most small plates, but can easily cost too much for two or more.
Bit of a sketchy neighborhood, but there seems to be a lot of regulars.
Will keep it on my list for another possible visit.
Second visit was as good as the first. Wonderful flavors and unique dishes!
Outstanding! Unique and enjoyable from the food to the drinks.
Amazing meal overall. The Octopus was a stand out. The Tres Leches cake was also to die for. Great service. Thw only thing I didn't care for was the house made Cola.
Very unique experience
Incredible food, great service and an inviting atmosphere! Mushroom risotto, beef cherry empanadas, smoked chorizo and butter chicken were off the charts. Try a Pimm’s cooler - refreshing gin based drink. Only drawback was the food came out too quickly and ending up sitting/getting cool. First dish came out within minutes of ordering and three more within five minutes.
Everything was awesome at this restaurant! The service was on point and the food was beyond my expectations!
Food was AWESOME! And portions were generous for tapas. Loved catching up with an old friend here!
Food was outstanding! Party of 9 & everyone was pleased.
