La Mela Ratings and Reviews
We went as family of 4 for Christmas Eve dinner ,wonderful oval shaped platters for your individual meal, everyone goes home with half their meal ,great place to eat in little Italy,we were serenaded by a guitar playing troubadour. Authentic Italian food ,great service ,great meals, thank you La Mela
From start to finish we had staff willing to help us with anything we needed. They were excellent! (They were very helpful in getting our stroller through the very busy space.)
The food was exactly what we wanted and expected. The atmosphere is amazing. Do yourself a favor and eat from their family style menu.
Disappointing all around. Went there for thanksgiving lunch. The service was terrible. They didn’t bus our plates or refill waters. The food was underwhelming. I don’t know how this place got so many good reviews. The linguini with mussels was sandy. Yuck. The mushroom ravioli was good though. The only partially bright spot in the meal.
We sat outside and the maitre d stood over us and spoke, no, screamed, at friends who passed by and at times conducted a conversation at the same noise level as a scream making it impossible to hear or talk at our table. Terrible. Ruined the dinner. Couldn't get out fast enough.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY HERE! I had some family in from out of town and wanted a classic little Italy experience. A male genitalia light fixture was hanging above our table, which included my 7-year-old nephew and elderly aunts and uncles. I am not usually prudish but the waitstaff often were yelling and turning it on and off to draw attention to it, shouting "Ladies, make a wish!". Humiliating, sexist, and profoundly distasteful for a dinner crowd. Had I wanted this experience for my family I would've taken them to a bachelorette party, bar, or strip club. Shame on you, La Mela. Food was just ok.
Every aspect was perfect. The gift card I'd ordered was in the register, the greater at the door was amazing, the wine, food, limoncello, just everything was great! Lots of families and smaller groups. This was my first visit to La Mela and every time I return to New York this will be a part of the trip!
Thank you to everyone at La Mela for being a highlight of my trip!
