Italian
La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

My husband and I discovered La Masseria on a trip to NYC in 2018 and fell in love with the food, ambiance and service. We just had to go back last weekend when we were in town! Great choice for pre or post show. If you want to go on a Saturday night pre show, make your reservations well ahead of time because it seems everyone else has discovered how wonderful it is too! We will always go back to this restaurant every time we are in NYC,!

Opinion: Slightly above average Italian Restaurant. Wine selection is good as we enjoyed a nice bottle of Orvieto. The Burrata appetizer was very good. The Bolognese was very good but not over the top. The Deal Breaker was the Linguine and Clams as the pasta was so dry I had to use the oil and capers that were served with our bread to offset the dryness. I found it unusual to eat at an Italian Restaurant that did not highlight their sauce. Clams were done well so that kind of saved the dish to a degree. Service was good, but again not over the top. Good, but not a great place.

We went to La Masseria on Saturday (6/15/2019) for lunch prior to a Broadway showing of "Burn This." We both had the whole branzino, which was the fish special of the day, and shared a white wine while sitting outside on the patio. Everything was fantastic. We would highly recommend La Masseria. We give it 5 stars across the board except for value. It's not cheap. But the cost was exactly what we would expect for such a high quality meal with impeccable service and perfect ambiance.

I found this restaurant by Googling "best restaurant in theater district ". It definitely was the best. I am gluten free and my soft shell crab was gored especially for me. The waiters are fabulous and the food superb.

This was my first dining experience at La Masseria and I would definitely like to return. It’s a lovely oasis in the middle of the theater district hustle and bustle. My daughter and I enjoyed a delicious lunch in a relaxing atmosphere. The service was excellent, and at no point were we rushed to finish our lunch. I would definitely recommend La Masseria to my friends and family.

It was a great day in NYC. Mid 70's and sunny. We ate outside. Service was excellent. The Bronzino was as good as I've had (and that is frequent). And they have a delicious chocolate sorbet - also a fave. Rarely find it. Can't wait to go back.

La Masseria serves up consistently delicious Italian food in an attractive, rustic dining room and sidewalk patio. The wait staff are conscientious, cordial and know the menu. At prime dinner hour the restaurant can be noisy with conversation, but it's convivial. Be sure to try the grilled fish (we had the branzino and it was cooked and dressed to perfection). And the bartender makes an Aperol spritz to rival any I've had in Italy.

Took our chances knowing the proximity to theater district and Times Square- very average and very expensive. Wait staff was professional but way too hovering- constantly refreshing our glasses when not needed, asking if all was right when trying to eat... pretty annoying. My risotto was tasteless and disappointing- even shrimp had no flavor. The only shining light was the amazing mozzarella as part of our caprese salad- a delight! This cost more than our risotto but worth it- in all my years traveling to Italy never tasted mozzarella of this quality.
Overall experience was OK but don’t plan on going back.

We enjoyed a very nice evening of al fresco dining at La Masseria. Decent wine list with an (understandably) Italian focus - reasonably priced. Wait staff was professional though not overly attentive. Appreciated not being rushed, but frequently had empty water glasses and had to flag down the waiter for the check. The food was flavorful and nice but not earth shattering. Given its proximity to Times Square, we were impressed with the experience.

We sat at a table outside which was very nice and avoided the noise from the main dining room. I must say that the food (we had traditional pasta) was excellent and plentiful. The prices were typical of NYC so I really can't complain about that. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We would go back.

This is a restaurant that checks all the boxes— ambiance, food, service, and value. We had the most wonderful experience at this restaurant that was only enhanced by getting an outside table on a beautiful Sunday evening.

The menu is reflective of Italy’s best food items and beautifully served by a well trained staff. Throughout the evening the wait staff was attentive and helpful in answering any questions about the menu.

Do yourself a favor and “Google” La Masseria and check their website. I know that once you do that you’ll be using Open Table to make your reservation.

La Masseria has a lovely feel yet is comfortable and fairly priced. The fresh pasta is outrageous. I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars for two reasons...first, the lobster in the sauce (which made it one of the most expensive pastas) was quite chewy (although the sauce was very tasty), and second, we received our meals within moments of ordering. It gave us a feeling that everything was premade. Granted, fresh pasta cooks fast, but this was FAST. We barely had time to settle in to enjoy our wine. Anyway, I would certainly go again.
