About La Masseria

La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

We generally go to La Masseria for lunch when seeing a show. This was the first time we went for dinner when it was nice enough to sit next to the open doors to the patio - it was lovely. The fried zucchini appetizer is always good, and we also had the mussels and burrata with sliced tomatoes, very nice. The pasta with fresh clams and the one with eggplant and smoked mozzerella were excellent, and my husband really enjoyed his branzino. We split a ricotta cheesecake for dessert - very creamy, a little more like NY stule but very tasty. This is our go-to place in the theater district. We've also eaten in the Rhode Island location!

We celebrated my moms 89th birthday here, a group of 10 and the staff was attentive and gracious. The food was delicious and everyone commented afterwards that we had made the best restaurant choice! We will definitely go back.

went for the second time, food was very good but table in the middle of the restaurant was very noisy. Waiters seem to rush you a bit.

I have dined at La Masseria many times and the food is very good and the service is excellent. I especially appreciate the cleanliness of the restaurant and the washrooms. This is very important to me. Good food, great staff, which is why I return 3-5 times per month.

I've been here for a Wednesday 5pm dinner with friends and 8pm on Saturday with husband. Both experiences were wonderful. The staff is phenomenal! Helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Followed their suggestions both times and have no complaints. Lemon sole was melt in your mouth good and rabbit was tender and tasty. Wine suggestions were very, very good and reasonably priced, despite the extensive list of vintage Italian wines. Wholeheartedly recommend!

Took my parents to see Of mice and men and picked this place because it was across the street from Longacre theatre. I'm so glad we went here the waiter was so nice and explained the specials to my Dad who always ask a millon questions and then forgets what the answer a second later (poor waiter). The food was great I got the spinach salad and gnocchis, so good, the gnocchis were so light and the cheese sauce they were in was delicious and creamy. My parents loved their food too. A bit expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

The food is freshly prepared each day. Everything on the menu is made from scratch. I've been here multiple times and each time I try something new and it's to die for. I've been recommending this place to friends for as long as I can remember, and they love it just as much as me. Highly recommend it if you are a lover of Italian food like me.

We wanted a lunch spot close to our play and picked this because it was on the same block. We were very happy with the food and service. We dined outside which was perfect! Although it was pricey, $170+ for lunch with 1 app, 3 glasses of wine, 3 main courses and 1 dessert...we were very happy and would return....but not too often because of the price for Lu

Went to the 7:00 Tuesday performance of "Gentlemens' Guide...", then a few steps to Masseria's for our 9:30 reservation. They had saved the best outdoor table for us. Extremely kind and courteous service to us tourists--made us feel like regulars. Great location, excellent food and wine, reasonable prices. Fun to people-watch as crowds spilled out of the nearby theaters, fighting for taxis as we luxuriated at ringside. You will like it!!

Enjoyed a pre-matinee Wednesday lunch. The restaurant is attractive, comfortable and reasonably spacious by Manhattan standards. It's a bit pricy, but worth it for the quality of the food. We split a daily special -- seafood salad appetizer -- they split the dish in the kitchen and served it separately, which is the way it should be done, rather than slopping the food from plate to plate at the table. More importantly, it was really delicious -- super fresh seafood, lightly dressed in lemon juice and a touch of olive oil. It would also made a great entree if you didn't share it. We then split the risotto of the day -- with crab and arugula, but it was just OK -- oddly lacking in seasoning and zest.

We had a wonderful lunch. An excellent Italian restaurant starts with crusty tasty bread, followed by exceptional Italian fresh pasta. My salmon was cooked to perfection with a light creamy mustard sauce. Ricotta cheesecake was a nice finish, light & smooth! Service was excellent.

I have enjoyed many fine Italian dinners and I can confidently declare that my experience on Sunday night was start-to-finish the best ever. Everything we ordered was delicious (even simple items like ravioli and cheesecake were rendered truly special by the chef), and the staff brought it all together. These folks were genuinely EXCITED about they food and wine they were serving and our satisfaction was PERSONAL for them. They KNEW the food (they were all from the deep South of Italy), some were related to the chef, one was a skiiled sommelier, etc. They were honest (they told me which pasta was homemade), they didn't push the specials, and they were happy to let me have what I wanted with no response but a smile. It was fantastic.

We took our family of four here after a play. Great location in mid-town. When we walked in we were greeted very warmly and the ambiance is elegant and friendly. We had a fantastic, professional waiter. The special risotto was amazing and the veal chop excellent. Teenagers loved their pastas and we all had a great time.
