About La Masseria

La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

Have been to this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed . The food is always fresh and so tasty. They have several specials and one is better than the other. Staff is always welcoming and accommodating they will alter the dish to suit your palet. Always a great experience

My brother recommended La Masseria for our pre- theatre lunch. I am so happy that I took his recommendation. From the service ( impeccable) to the food ( delicious) as well as the price ( perfect) I was not disappointed. Completely satisfied and will be returning!

This was our second time at La Masseria. The service and atmosphere are terrific. My wife ordered the lobster ravioli, which were great. I, however, ordered the crab risotto special which was bland, overpriced and disappointing. We would definitely go back, but I would stick to the regular menu next time.

Very pleasant lunch, although I wasn’t aware that the lunch special was $38.50,which seemed like a lot without being told ahead of time.

Excellent food and very attentive service; tables very close together and noisy, but over all, a pleasant evening!! (Valentines flower accompanied the meal!)

Pre-theater reservation; seated immediately. Rabbit, eggplant pasta very good. Thought eggplant dish a little heavy and spicy, but date enjoyed it. Rabbit tender and seasoned perfectly. Spinach salad excellent. Not normally a big fan of tiramisu (ordered by date), but thought it was good enough to change my opinion.

Casually elegant, welcoming atmosphere. Excellent, attentive and friendly service. Not rushed. Thoroughly enjoyed.

My boyfriend, an out-of-towner from Canada, absolutely loved it! He said we should make it our spot for Valentine's Day every year. We were seated on the small but cozy second floor. It was very romantic! The location of the restaurant was fantastic; not on a super busy street, but close enough to Times Square for me to show him all the lights at night. The waiters were very knowledgeable on the menu. One was even kind enough to take a photo of us upon request. The atmosphere was exactly what I wanted for a date night; dim lighting, music and murmurs, and of course, great food!

Celebrating my daughter's birthday. Had a nice table. Requested lower level because of my difficulty with stairs and the request was honored. Best (and coldest) Cosmos in NYC. Gluten free pasta dish was delicious.

Pre-theater gem. Soup, salad, pasta, cookies with coffee. It’s pure, earthy delight. Everything was fresh and bright, exploding with flavor. Everything felt familiar, but you can’t help upon taking your first bite saying - or at least thinking - “Now THAT’s a [fill in the blank]”

Food was very good. Only issue I had was that our waiter brought out the wrong dessert and instead of l.eaving it there an swaying enjoy , he took it bad. I think he should have apologized for his mistake and said it's here already, on the house.

The food was excellent and the restaurant atmosphere was very good as well but we have on significant complaint. My wife and I and two friends came for restaurant week. We've being going to restaurant week for ages and have never been made to feel unwelcome--until this day. When we sat down the waiter brought us four standard menus. I've never had to ask for the restaurant week insert before but this time I did. The waiter returned immediately and virtually flung down one copy on the table for four people. Before all of us even had the chance to look at it he came back with a brusk 'are you ready'? He might has well have said something like--0h you're just restaurant week cheapos. Also, one of my friends order a glass of wine which never appeared. I try my best not to let one bad experience turn me off to a place but this time, to use a deliberately stale pun, it left a bad taste in my mouth

Someone there knows what they're doing. We appreciated touches like the waiter cleaning silver on the way to the table, and asking if we would like to divide a salad. We could do without the thumping music that never changes, adds nothing to the atmosphere and raises the noise level. Perhaps some nice Italian classics to go with the beautiful decor? Well managed. Food delicious. Can be pricy, depending on how you order.

Arrived with our party at 7:30 pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was not packed but it filled up pretty quickly and the noise level was a little too loud for me. We actually couldn’t hear each other so not a lot of conversation. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be an Italian thing but plates seemed to be clattering around me. Anyway the bread basket was a treat, the calamari appetizer was good - loved that little spicy zing in the marinara sauce. Pasta entrees were alright. The best was the chocolate lava cake for dessert!
