About La Masseria

La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

Although we made our reservation in September and dined on Dec. 10, the maitre d tried to seat our party of four near the crowded and breezy entrance, where people were waiting to be seated. We requested a different table and were treated rudely and harshly told to wait a half-hour. It's a shame, because the food and service were good. He needs to learn some tact.

We didn't have the best "experience " at this restaurant. The host asked if we had a reservation and of course we did, we know that in NYC on a week-end you need reservations. He was a young guy have no idea what his name was but he was rude, and unfriendly, he said our table was not ready. So we walked two steps to the bar and we were ignored, one bartender had his back turned to us the whole time and was counting a cash drawer, the other was stacking wine bottles. No one said "Hello!" Welcome to La Masseria or anything of that nature. The whole staff was rude. Our servers, (we had a total of 4-5) were not friendly either, not sure what the deal was. The food is rather expensive but hey I guess you are in NYC...and that was to be somewhat expected but we did expect also to have more of a friendly experience. The food was excellent so much appreciation, and our compliments to the chef. Think the employees all need a refresher course on how to be friendly to customers. After all if it wasn't for us you would not have a job!

This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant. It was our sister's weekend and the food was good, however, our dishes were warm but not hot. So..for this reason alone, my rating.

Please have management address this issue..there is no excuse for non heated food.

We ate here before going to see a show nearby. Everything about La Masseria was perfect. The food was great, our waiter(s) were very attentive and the ambiance was everything we could have asked for for a night out on the town. We normally don't eat at expensive restaurants like this, but there's a good chance we will be back the next time we're in New York.

We were a large party, pretheater. The food was delicious. The spaghetti and tagliatelle were so fresh and flavorful. The rabbit was tender and juicy. The staff was attentive despite being busy, and the ambiance was lovely. Could not have asked for better. A memorable meal. We will be back.

Sad experience!
Do not make reservations after 10:00 p.m.
The kitchen closes and you are asked to literally stone the bill.
Unfortunate !

Great place for lunch before theatre. Great food, lovely atmosphere, good service. I would love to try it for dinner. Seafood salad at lunch was exquisite. And their fried zuchinni are addictive. I will go back.

Went to this restaurant during a visit to New York City after it was recommended by a
friend. The staff is wonderful and friendly, the service impeccable , but the most important
thing was that the food was "fantastico" !
I already recommended to a couple we met during a visit to Ellis Island.

Excellent as always. We go each year on our Christmas visit to NYC. Love the hot food served and the salads are exceptional. I had the pompano special and my husband had the whole wheat pasta. 2:30 is a nice time for a quiet lunch.

Overall very nice. Somewhat pricey, $23.50 for a mussels and clam appetizer. What I really would suggest is that they open the BAR at 4:30 when many patrons began to arrive. You waited at the bar, but could not get a drink as the staff was being tutored for the evening menu. A missed opportunity for making a customer relax, adding more to the bottom line,$$$
