La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

My colleagues and I had dinner tonight at La Masseria. It was amazing. The quality and taste our meals are incredible. Our server, Alfredo, and wait staff are professional, gracious and great at their jobs! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

This jewel of a restaurant was on the same block as our theatre district play. We were very happy when they were able give us a late reservation. We were seated promptly, wait service was excellent, and the food was wonderful. The farm-to-table menu was the perfect finish to a rare night out for just the two of us. We will keep it in mind for future post theatre evenings and
will enjoy sharing it with friends and family!

Good Italian food. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was great. The food came out really fast so excellent for before show dinners. The noise level was a little high as the tables were very close together. I would definitely eat there again.

In typical NYC dining style, we were hurried. The second we sat our menu down, a new waiter appeared to take our order. Another filled our water glasses. A third grabbed our plates the second we finished our last bite. The food was good, prices reasonable for NY, and portions adequate (but not huge-Olive Garden style!). We were seated at a tiny table for two right next to the line for the bathroom, which took away some ambiance. The restaurant was quite loud, but not the loudest - we were able to hear each other without raising our voices. I won't eat here again, but it wasn't a negative experience.

My favorite place in the theater district.
The Pros-ambience that gives you the feeling of being in Italy, impeccable service( not rushing you through your meal), full menu but the pasta dishes are phenomenal, wine list by the glass or bottle beautifully curated. Prices are moderate, well worth it.If you are on a budget, then the 3 course fixe price restaurant row would be a better choice.

Cons- if you don’t try this place, you’ve missed a excellent meal.

My wife and I had a great time at La Masseria. I was born and raised in Italy so I’m extremely selective with Italian food in the US. Everything was spectacular, very authentic and big portions. The wine we chose (Gragnano from Napoli and Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa) were some of the best I had. Service was also top notch. It’s quite expensive as you can imagine.

Was an amazing atmosphere and had amazing food but the servers seemed to be too attentive, stood right next to my table the entire meal. This made for a slight uncomfortable experience in the service department. Other than the staff, it was overall a nice experience.

I found La Messeria when searching my area for an upscale and authentic Italian restaurant for a late evening dinner. The dining room was beautiful! The staff was more than accommodating when we requested to move tables. The special list was extensive and delectable sounding. I felt appropriately wined and dined! Delicious and great for a date!

We were a larger group, but were seated comfortably. The attention from the servers was 100% in tune with the type of afternoon we wished to enjoy. We were never rushed - and - our wine glasses were never empty!! Wonderful cuisine and atmosphere.

We love La Masseria. If you want lunch before a show or dinner after a show, we are not sure there is a better choice (we've tried many). The service is spot-on while not being oppressive. The food is above par, and some dishes are truly excellent (gnocchi for example). This time, we had the fried zucchini (such a small item, yet so very good). We squeezed a little, provided lemon and WOW! The breadsticks are to die for! We had to shrimp risotto with peas -- which was very good, but a bit too buttery for me-- but I think that is personal -- I am not a huge butter fan. We also had the Bolognese, and it was delish! Do not miss the chocolate gelato -- we also had the hazelnut -- both are excellent, but the chocolate is a WOW. Coffee was so flavorful. The atmosphere, when it is full (happens before a show) is a bit noisy, but not in a bad way -- just enough that you cannot really "hear" the conversations of people around you -- which is a good thing. We had a noon reservation, were seated immediately, ate our three courses, and was out in time to walk to our show -- it was leisurely and felt decadent! The price -- while not inexpensive, is not outrageous -- for NYC prices, I would actually say the prices were GOOD for what we ate. We will be back -- La Masseria is our go-to!

This was our second time eating here. We were visiting the city from out of state. The server (Vincenzo) was great & extemely accomadating. As before, he made us feel welcome and appreciated. The food is delicious as we always order way more than we need! This will be our dinner spot when we visit the city.

Had a delicious meal on Sunday evening before the theater. Our party had Gnocchi, (so light in texture, great); Tagliatelle Bolognese and Bucatini —we enjoyed each meal. Topped it off with good Italian wines and a ricotta cheesecake. Alberto and George were spot on with the recommendations! Highly recommend this restaurant.

The experience here was absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect from the staff to the food. My parents highly recommended eating at La Masserja when in NYC so we gave it a try. Outstanding authentic tasting food with delicious wine pairings. We really enjoyed our night out and can’t wait to go back!

This was such a great little find for us. I know it's really close to Times Square so that is probably why the prices felt a little higher than some of the comparable restaurants but the quality of the food mixed with the delightful and quiet atmosphere very much made up for the steeper prices. If you are looking to have a special night out, this is a place I would recommend.
