I took my sister here for her 50th birthday before a show. Excellent service, even with a packed restaurant. Food came extremely quickly. I had the seafood salad and the squid was so tender, it was like soft butter. My sister had the linguine with clams and she couldn't stop eating it. 3 kinds of bread and olive oil with lentils. Maybe sure you go with an empty stomach! Plenty of daily specials, so don't let the online menu dictate whether you go. And yes, they did sing Happy Birthday!!
We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Only complaint was that the appetizer, which we shared, was so large, I couldn't finish my entree.
After theater very fast service. Had squid ink pasta with crabmeat, shrimp, asparagus and cherry tomatoes. Absolutely delicious. My wife ordered boccatini pasta with pancetta and garlic. Also very good. Very busy restaurant but quick service.
The food and service was good. However the tables for two are very small and uncomfortable. Do not accept seating upstairs, the area is very crowded and uncomfortable. Based on the size of the table I would not recommend this restaurant for parties of less than three people
Excellent as usual. Best midtown restaurant around
One of my very favorite restaurants!!
My colleagues and I had dinner tonight at La Masseria. It was amazing. The quality and taste our meals are incredible. Our server, Alfredo, and wait staff are professional, gracious and great at their jobs! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Fantastic and friendly for children.
Always good!! Great food, nice staff, easy location. A neighborhood gem!
Dinner with the Family in our Family restaurant!
Like eating at Mom’s House ,excellent food and service
This jewel of a restaurant was on the same block as our theatre district play. We were very happy when they were able give us a late reservation. We were seated promptly, wait service was excellent, and the food was wonderful. The farm-to-table menu was the perfect finish to a rare night out for just the two of us. We will keep it in mind for future post theatre evenings and
will enjoy sharing it with friends and family!
Good Italian food. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was great. The food came out really fast so excellent for before show dinners. The noise level was a little high as the tables were very close together. I would definitely eat there again.
In typical NYC dining style, we were hurried. The second we sat our menu down, a new waiter appeared to take our order. Another filled our water glasses. A third grabbed our plates the second we finished our last bite. The food was good, prices reasonable for NY, and portions adequate (but not huge-Olive Garden style!). We were seated at a tiny table for two right next to the line for the bathroom, which took away some ambiance. The restaurant was quite loud, but not the loudest - we were able to hear each other without raising our voices. I won't eat here again, but it wasn't a negative experience.
Great service and the foot was awesome great Italian food, you wont be disappointed with this place.
Great food and wonderful service. The gnocchi we're delicious!
Lovely lunch before going to the theatre.
My favorite place in the theater district.
The Pros-ambience that gives you the feeling of being in Italy, impeccable service( not rushing you through your meal), full menu but the pasta dishes are phenomenal, wine list by the glass or bottle beautifully curated. Prices are moderate, well worth it.If you are on a budget, then the 3 course fixe price restaurant row would be a better choice.
Cons- if you don’t try this place, you’ve missed a excellent meal.
Perfect after show dinner.
Wonderful pre-theatre meal. Excellent food, accommodating service. Octopus appetizer was fabulous.
Todd n service was excellent
The service and food were outstanding. We were visiting from out of state and were pleasantly surprised.
Good and service was superior. Attentive but unobtrusive... up to a NYC standard of excellence all around
Reliable pre-theatre Italian restaurant. Always good!
Fabulous food! Service was exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. If you want authentic Italian cuisine this is the place.
The food was delicious and service excellent. Great food and wine add up to a lovely experience.
My wife and I had a great time at La Masseria. I was born and raised in Italy so I’m extremely selective with Italian food in the US. Everything was spectacular, very authentic and big portions. The wine we chose (Gragnano from Napoli and Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa) were some of the best I had. Service was also top notch. It’s quite expensive as you can imagine.
Was an amazing atmosphere and had amazing food but the servers seemed to be too attentive, stood right next to my table the entire meal. This made for a slight uncomfortable experience in the service department. Other than the staff, it was overall a nice experience.
I found La Messeria when searching my area for an upscale and authentic Italian restaurant for a late evening dinner. The dining room was beautiful! The staff was more than accommodating when we requested to move tables. The special list was extensive and delectable sounding. I felt appropriately wined and dined! Delicious and great for a date!
We were a larger group, but were seated comfortably. The attention from the servers was 100% in tune with the type of afternoon we wished to enjoy. We were never rushed - and - our wine glasses were never empty!! Wonderful cuisine and atmosphere.
We love La Masseria. If you want lunch before a show or dinner after a show, we are not sure there is a better choice (we've tried many). The service is spot-on while not being oppressive. The food is above par, and some dishes are truly excellent (gnocchi for example). This time, we had the fried zucchini (such a small item, yet so very good). We squeezed a little, provided lemon and WOW! The breadsticks are to die for! We had to shrimp risotto with peas -- which was very good, but a bit too buttery for me-- but I think that is personal -- I am not a huge butter fan. We also had the Bolognese, and it was delish! Do not miss the chocolate gelato -- we also had the hazelnut -- both are excellent, but the chocolate is a WOW. Coffee was so flavorful. The atmosphere, when it is full (happens before a show) is a bit noisy, but not in a bad way -- just enough that you cannot really "hear" the conversations of people around you -- which is a good thing. We had a noon reservation, were seated immediately, ate our three courses, and was out in time to walk to our show -- it was leisurely and felt decadent! The price -- while not inexpensive, is not outrageous -- for NYC prices, I would actually say the prices were GOOD for what we ate. We will be back -- La Masseria is our go-to!
Great pre theater lunch or dinner!
Everything perfect including the cappuccino! A very special Italian restaurant in the Theatre District!
We had a nice experience here. I would recommend this restaurant before a show. Great service and good food.
Excellent authentic Italian cuisine, top quality ingredients, very tasty, friendly attentive service. This place would beat a lot of competition even in Italy.
Absolutely fantastic service and the food was delicious! We wanted to share our meals and they took the time to split them among all three of us. Can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you!
Meal and our waiter were outstanding, even though they sold out of entree that I wanted. Waiter was very good recommendy a different one.
This was our second time eating here. We were visiting the city from out of state. The server (Vincenzo) was great & extemely accomadating. As before, he made us feel welcome and appreciated. The food is delicious as we always order way more than we need! This will be our dinner spot when we visit the city.
All good. Grouper was the best I have ever had. Service was impeccable.
Had a delicious meal on Sunday evening before the theater. Our party had Gnocchi, (so light in texture, great); Tagliatelle Bolognese and Bucatini —we enjoyed each meal. Topped it off with good Italian wines and a ricotta cheesecake. Alberto and George were spot on with the recommendations! Highly recommend this restaurant.
