About La Masseria
La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

La Masseria Ratings and Reviews
If you don’t mind being ignored by all the men running this restaurant from the moment you walk in the door to how they take your order until they take you credit card... then you will love this place! Food was good but it was poor service. I️ travel extensively for business and pleasure and never experienced this level of ignoring the customer before. When the hostess walked us to our table a sr server was blocking the way. The server moved when the hostess tapped his shoulder. It was not crowded and when I️ followed he did not move. I️ had to tap his shoulder twice to get him to move. Our server took our order and started to enter it in to the order system with out taking our beverage order or starters. I️ had to raise my voice and ask for the items over to him at the system screen. Food was fine and time to get food from the kitchen was terrific. It appeared on a Tuesday night the staff was more interested in what other staff was doing rather than what the client wanted. This was true w the managers at the front stand when we entered. They were so busy talking to one another on a topic and they did not greet us and 5 min later a hostess greeted us w an apology. If they can fix this culture problem they will do well. If they continue the food can’t carry them to on going success.
Was on a special weekend trip to New York City from Texas with friends. This place was recommended to us by a friend who travels to NYC frequently and told us it was well-located and great ambiance and Italian food. We found it to be wonderful cuisine, good wine and knowledgeable waitstaff!! Definitely a great restaurant. Will recommend to friends!!
I've been to their other restaurant on 9th and really enjoyed it.
My main complaint was that the waiters kept wanting to clear the table before people were finished. They took away the plate of one guest when it was clear that two others were not even half finished. It wasn't that they needed the table as there were other open tables. In the meantime, the waiters had to be asked to refill water glasses.
The food was good and ambiance was fine.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they did a wonderful job. the restaurant has a very good choice of appetizers and the main course is exceptional even though you will not think so by reviewing the menu. The waiter will have a great list of choices in addition to the menu. the service was of the highest quality and not just from the waiter but all of the service people. Would highly recommend this restaurant and I was pleased it was no more expensive than lesser restaurants in Austin, Texas.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner with very gracious service following an evening out with a Broadway show. Excellent location and ambiance. Food was very good and our bottle of wine was very reasonable. Enjoyment all around. Will definitely go back and we were from out of town....wanted to try someplace new in the theater district and were not disappointed.
Food presentation was average. Fish was served with mashed potatoes and grilled fennel, all beige. Not very appealing to the eye! The pasta with bolognese sauce was very good. We could have shared that but were discouraged from doing so when the waiter said it was too small to share. Prices were expensive considering the quality of the food and presentation.
The food was excellent! Location is perfect to Broadway theatres either after or before the show. Cute and modern and clean. The wait staff was attentive and good.
BUT I had a huge issue with the manager on duty on the night of Saturday, 10/28.
I asked for a couple of specific tables- that were empty, but he refused to seat my partner and I........ saying that they were 4-top tables only.
I could have understood that, BUT my reservation was at 10:45 pm and there were not that many additional customers coming in since they close at 12.
In addition- it gets worse- there were 4 or 5 other 4-top tables ALL with only two people dining at these tables....AND they even sat another party of 2 at one of these table as well- AFTER we were seated at our very small table for two in the back.
I am VERY unhappy about the SELECTIVE way patrons are seated- despite their request and reservations many days in advance. It was highly offensive!!
So be warned.
The risotto was divine as was the wine - the "primary waiter" did not introduce himself, was rude at times, did not make eye contact with anyone in our party and seemed annoyed about being there. For 500 hundred dollars you'd like your waiter to check back with you. Needs a refresher in customer service.
My wife and I were visiting NYC for her birthday celebration and chose La Masseria restaurant based on the reviews previously given on the internet. The ratings were correct and this restaurant was outstanding in its food, service, ambiance and we both loved it. Would come back again and would recommend to our friends.
