We have always enjoyed the food, the service, and the ambiance at La Masseria. Service is outstanding, and the value extended at this fine restaurant is excellent for a fine dining experience in the theatre district. We recommend La Masseria to all friends!
My husband and I enjoyed a late dinner here, post-theatre. I'd been wanting to try the restaurant for some time and happy I finally made it there. The place is beautiful -- a rustic warmth, great lighting and flora -- particularly lovely on a coldish winter night. The service was very attentive and professional and the food was uniformly excellent. I had a fantastic salad with beans and goat cheese and pasta bolognese. He had the fried zucchini and what he said was one of the best veal chops he'd ever had. The portions are actually fairly large. I would definitely share an appetizer next time. We also shared a excellent dessert -- apple tart with ice cream and raspberry sauce. The restaurant is pricey, but no more so than other midtown places of this calibre. And they pour a reasonably sized glass of wine, which is more than many other high-end restaurants do. We will definitely add this to our go-to list for the future.
Restaurant does an excellent job on positioning the tables so you are not sitting side by side next to another party. The gnocchi was delicious and light. The service was excellent ! Will definitely go back.
I had a few issues, overall if you in a hurry to catch a Broadway play, this place will get you out ASAP. I arrived a little early for my reso on Monday night ( theaters are closed) and had a drink with my party, only to be asked to pay the bill rather than move it to the table ( pet peeve), then we were told we had to order out appetizer with dinner at the same time ? Only after I insisted as we had not looked at the menu did the waiter relent and take the app order. Food was great and arrived promptly but no dessert or coffee was offered.
For Italian in NYC, there are many choices. Unless your going to a show nearby, you could do better.
The food is great, and the presentation is wonderful. I thought the service, all of it from the hostess to the wait staff to the bartenders to the servers, was exceptional. I left a big tip because they deserved it!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone.
Wonderful as always; food delicious, service superb, consistently good in all ways.
Food and service fabulous!
Very convenient location to theaters and Time Square.
The Salmon was the best I have ever had and my friends loved their pasta dishes.
We sat at the bar with Valentina. She is a delight. Food was excellent.
I have been to La Masseria several times when I visit NYC. We were seated upon arrival and the service was prompt. Our meal was very good.
I would definitely go back!
We completely enjoyed our dining experience. The meals were all excellent and the service superb. The waitstaff was attentive and unobtrusive. We spent a longer than normal time and did not feel pressured to finish. This was our third visit and was as outstanding as the first 2 times. We will definitely rerun when we visit NY.
Seemed a little disconnected. Staff was often bunched up chatting. Just not a locked in really good restaurant experience.
One of my favorites! Great place to go on a date or with a group. The grouper special was wonderful!
They told us we didn’t have reservations after a show.
Outstanding service, very good food! Had a late meal after a play.
Everything was wonderful! Our table was perfect, our waiter was attentive and the food was fabulous. Great wine list.
We had a tight schedule and the staff worked with us to meet our timetable.
Very enjoyable...great food and service!
Outstanding food and service. I will be going back soon and will recommend it to friends.
Love this place! Never disappoints.
As usual the wait staff is excellent, great atmosphere, the food is superb!
Always a great experience! Attentive service, nice atmosphere, outstanding food. I consider the prices very reasonable for food quality and ambiance.
It was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had! Food came so quick! I got a rose upon leaving from the manager! So kind!
We felt we were shunned from the moment we walked in. We had to wait 20 minutes for our reserved table; they didn’t take our coats (others were being taken); we were seated in the first table by the front door; and as we left, other women were offered roses and we were not. The food was good but we were very disappointed how we were treated.
We always enjoy our experience. Atmosphere and food are very good. Wish more fish chooses. Prices of specials very high.
Around Broadway show time it is kind of hectic and the service is good but not terribly attentive. The food is good. The portions are very large and the price reflects this. I don’t think anyone who is not extremely hungry could really finish the whole meal. I don’t know the policy on sharing entrees but they did serve a hood spinach salad to four of us. It is pretty noisy but fortunately we were in a corner. Might not seem desirable to some people but it was to us since we could mostly hear each other
The restaurant is wonderful except for the following:
We were seated at a very small table in a very tight space. It was very uncomfortable being right on top of others. It was very loud and couldn’t even talk to my wife. After dinner we told the manager about our unpleasant experience and he said that is just the way it is. My suggestion is not to space tables so close and add noise dampeners to lessen the loud sound from people trying to talk over their neighbors. We will probably try some other restaurant when we return.
Our favorite in NYC. As always everything was excellent!
Three of us had lunch at La Masseria during restaurant week. Just by chance, we all ordered different appetizers and different main courses - and everything was excellent. In addition, I ordered a dessert from the Restaurant Week menu for a $4 supplement, and it was very good; my daughter ordered creme brulee (not on the Restaurant Week menu) - I thought the $11 was a little high. Service was attentive but we did not feel rushed. We will definitely be back to try some other dishes.
Salad too much dressing.
The food was perfectly cooked my friend asked for well done which it was. The veggies on the plate where grilled perfectly.
We celebrated a 60th birthday at La Masseria, and it lived up to the reviews. Delicious food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Looking forward to returning!
We had buffalo milk mozzarella app which was really good. The tomato was fresh and ripe, plenty of prosciutto and the cheese was flavorful. Next was lamb and porcini mushroom cavatelli. The pasta tasted home made, the rest of the dish was like lamb stew and the mushroom flavor was barely there. The other dish was a veal special which I believe was saltimbocca. There were 3 veal medallions maybe 4 inches in diameter and super thin-too thin for our liking. Not enough for an entree; served with mashed potato, about a half cup. There are NO substitutions allowed for any reason. We asked for a pasta instead of the potato and veg. We were offered a half order of pasta with an up charge in addition to the potato and veg. I can understand for restaurant week menu but when you are paying top dollar for a meal it’s disenchanting. For dessert we got the ricotta cheesecake. It did not have the consistency of Italian cheesecake, more like NY cheesecake, creamy and dense with the ricotta cheese flavor slightly coming through on the back end. I would not call it Italian cheesecake for sure but it was good. Also we had the flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It was good.
Bottom line, if you don’t mind spend top dollar for mediocre food, it’s your place. We won’t be going back.
Food was good and loved the atmosphere.
Even though my friend and I went for a restaurant week, regular menu in general was reasonably priced.
Service wise, really liked the gestures from staffs. Putting freshly grated extra cheese and pepper table side was good, but would’ve been better if had knowledge on which dish needs it. Last but not least would’ve been better if the waiter was more sensitive pouring water. Splatter tiny bits on table.
Overall loved the experience and definitely will make a visit sometime soon
Over-priced and underwhelming.
As always, food very good, good palace for business meal. However, our waiter kept hovering and asking us if we were ready to order 3 times as we were in middle of conversation!
We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience at La Masseria. The staff was cordial, service was very good, and the food was outstanding. The atmosphere was also very nice. Overall, very enjoyable.
The food was fantastic and so was the service, I’m already planning another trip here.
Delicious pre-theater lunch. The menu had something for everyone and we all loved our entrees.
