Awesome service from Victor! Good night for bday celebration
Great atmosphere. Food was delicious! Service was A+
Quite a busy Saturday afternoon but La Margarita had everything organized and our table was ready on time. We were a large party of 13. Service was spot-on, margaritas were perfect, fajitas were good and the overall atmosphere was fun. We weren't rushed and were able to sit and enjoy ourselves after eating. Our server was able to make recommendations, was very prompt and remembered everything the first time asked. We had several small children in our party and he was very accommodating to their needs. A great place and a great time had by all!
Loved the area, cultural and colorful!
Arrived 30 minutes prior to closing on a Monday the staff was friendly and helpful. The service was very good. Our food arrive and was good, not piping hot or as fresh as we were used to and a bit different from the cuisine of Oklahoma Mexican restaurants. The con queso no so tasty, my chicken fajitas not so tender. Staff was nice and accommodating. Food is good. A bit pricey dinner average price $15 for tamales, tacos, quesadillas that’s pricey!
The food was delicious and the service was amazing! I had a great birthday dinner. Will be returning!
Restaurant is fun, lively and has Mariachis available. Drinks are good and fast and food is delicious.
Excellent manager great service. All very kind. People sing asking to much money
Ordered two drinks a beer&a mixed drink. That took about 15mins to get,our food was good service was ok.
Great Mexican food and colorful decoration by the Historic Market Square. Highly recommended.
Staff was great and the food was amazing
Hector the waiter made the experience memorable. Good food and the Don Margaritas were great.
I have been here before and loved it, I wanted to show my from from out of town this vibrant restaurant that I remember. When seated it took a 12 minutes for the waitress to even greet us, we were never given silver wear until we had to ask for it AFTER our food arrived, our waitress only checked on us to ask if things were okay (just to say she did not actually mean it ), never offered to refresh our beverages we had to ask (it got to a point that we had to ask for thing expecting them to be done in 10-12 minutes) we were without beverages for a while multiple times, when skeptical about one item on the menu the waitress fabricated the portion of the appetizer, when receiveed we were a little confused and she responded by “yeah that’s what I said” when it in fact was not. It was the little things that added up to a lot. There were items on my plate I asked to specifically not be there because of allergies, but I was unwilling to wait another 30 minutes for my food. After she forgot our orders the first time. Probably won’t return again ):
My favorite restaurant when I visit San Antonio for the past 35 years.
There were six in our party. It was so noisy that we could not visit and when we did we had to scream! Definitely not an enjoyable evening.
Restaurant was very colorful and lively when I arrived at 745 on a Monday evening. A mariachi band stopped by to serenade some. The server was very polite but not very attentive. I believe this was an exception rather than the rule.
I had mole chicken which was ok but nothing special.
Excellent service and very good food. Great value for the money. It was a little noisy due to a live band playing outside in the Market Square area, but music was enjoyable, just hard to hear other members of my party talking.
Went to La Margarita for a surprise bday party for my aunt who had not seem her sister in 10+ years and her brother in some time. She was beyond delighted. For a rowdy and active bunch - 10 people - we had excellent service. Our waiter was awesome and super patient, orders were correct and timely, food was hot, and my aunt was treated with warmth and attention that this incredible woman deserves. Thank you, La Margarita!
Really loud. Food not that great. Drinks were decent.
Made a reservation only to be told upon arrival there was no table for us. After a 15 minute wait, manager sat us in the large party room with parties of 20+ people. The waiter worked hard but it was impossible to serve the # of people in the room. It took a long time to get our food, and it tasted terrible. The ground beef in the tacos actually tasted rancid and the taco shells were soggy. And our fajitas were cold. First place I’ve ever been to that didn’t serve fajitas on a sizzling hot plate? Even the margarita was bad. And I had to pay $100 for this. Disappointing.
We met my husbands cousins family in San Antonio after not seeing them for 10yrs, and were hoping to have some great Mexican food. Unfortunately the food was not good! Everything lacked flavor! I ordered the taco salad and was given ranch dressing?!?! No guacamole or sour cream, and maybe 1/4 cup of meat. We will definitely not go back! The service was great for the busy, very loud atmosphere.
They didn’t have our reservation, no idea about. It was for my daughters graduation, very much a special occasion. It was just an ok experience. Don’t ever need to return to this restaurant.
We were late due to trouble finding parking, but they still seated us fairly quickly. Food was good but service was not the greatest. Our waiter had a large table of 10 or more nearby & he had difficulty serving us both at the same time. Still an enjoyable dinner.
Being very hones here, this place was not my choice, but out-of-town friends insisted. Although we had booked through OpenTable, they were very confused about our reservation when we arrived; it was fairly quickly sorted out, though, and the specific server for our table was very good. HOWEVER, the place is extremely noisy, with poor acoustics and loud conversations that make it nearly impossible to talk. We were pretty much yelling at each other the whole time. Then the strolling musicians showed up and it was impossible to hear or say anything. Yes, it's part of the San Antonio tradition and vibe -- and maybe tourists love it -- but when you're visiting with friends you like to be able to talk, in my opinion. Maybe we should have sat outside, but it was a very hot day. The food I ordered -- caesar salad with grilled chicken -- was good. I don't know about the food ordered by the others.
Food was excellent, the server was quick and helpful. The restaurant is beautiful. Everything was great!
Took my family there for Mexican food. Everyone had a great time and the food was terrific. Our waiter was the best I’ve had in years!
We will all be back!
Great food great service
I was in San Antonio for business and wanted to go to the old market square area. I made this reservation thinking it was a different place, but dined regardless once I arrived. I sat outside and it was cool enough with shade even though temps were 100.i enjoyed watching the people walking by, the street vendors, and even saw an anti ICE protest march while I dined. The waitress was great and kept checking on me. Only problem was that the food wasn’t great. The main problem was lack of sauce and cheese on my enchilada plate. There were supposed to be three kinds, but all had the same (tasty) filling, and scant sauce on each to distinguish them. There was salsa on the table with chips, and the rice and beans were ok. The food was also inexpensive. I guess on the plus side, this was the least fattening Mexican food I’ve had.
Food was average Mexican, nothing special. Our server was very pleasant and quick but the outside area swarmed with birds that would fly inches from your head and land on the chair next to you. Lastly, I had turned in my OpenTable points to use as a credit towards this restaurant specifically. From what I understand, restaurants have to approve this before OpenTable offers it. The cashier refused to apply the reward stating they ‘did not take cards from phones’. I explained it wasn’t a credit card but reward from OpenTable and that they should be familiar with it. He went and asked his manager and came back with the same response. No luck.
Ceviche and Oysters were great. Fun atmosphere. Mariachi band was great ($20 for a song). Prices seemed a little high but we had a fun time there!
As a San Antonio native who has lived away for many years, La Margarita is one of my favorite restaurants on return visits home and always lives up to this Tex-Mex food-lover's standards. Festive atmosphere on Market Square in an airy and pleasant space. Friendly and attentive service. We reserved a table for lunch on a crowded Memorial Day weekend and breezed right through to a spacious table and a delicious meal.
We visited La Margarita on a Friday night. The crowd was large, the food was really good and the staff was very helpful and attentive. The resturant was pretty lively so it is not the best place to have an intimate converstaion. But it was fun with mariachies playing throughout the crowd. I would definitely go again when I am in San Antonio.
We reserved online so there was no wait. We got there and the waiter was very gracious as our party arrived in 2 different times. Took our order, it didn't take long. Food was delicious and hot.
Hotel recommended; great authentic Mexican.
Very nice. Table waiting as soon as we got in.
The restaurant was a bit noisy. The mariachi bands were everywhere. I would like to have eaten somewhere quite.
Very good service and food, enjoyed the mariachi's, friendly staff & atmosphere.
This is mediocre TexMex for tourists. San Antonio has better offerings.
