Great food! Great fun! Good Margaritas! Great Queso Flameado! (I don't know how to spell it.)
Great food with a old Mexico feel, food was very good, and the margaritas were outstanding! Only setback was it was so loud couldn’t really talk
Great overall experience. The service lags because of the high volume of diners but we’re
used to that. The general manager of La Margarita and Mi Tierra, Gerardo, stopped by to check on us. The food tastes the same as it did 30 years ago. The drinks are smaller but still good.
There is a reason that locals go through the tourists to eat there too. It is always a great meal at a decent price. It never fails to deliver. I have been going there for MANY years and will continue to go there. You should too.
Attractive restaurant. Food no better than average chain food. Fish did not taste fresh. Went to a small locally owned Mexican cafe the next day and the food was tremendously better and half the price. Just no atmosphere.
La Margarita is part of the Market, which was super busy and full of tourists. We had a good meal. It is pretty noisy.
I was not a fan. I was really looking forward to having good Mexican food in San Antonio. They are stingy with chips. Then I waited like a half hour for my margarita, which was the best part of the meal and then finally my food came out. My chicken fajitas looked a tasted boiled and microwaved. They were soggy and not real hot, with a bunch of thickly cut greasy onions on the side. The meat was also cut too thick rendering it difficult to keep inside the half cooked tortilla. The restaurant was super loud and hectic. It made me want the margarita more to calm my nerves. My friend enjoyed her food which is why it got an extra star, otherwise it was a bust.
Great place with great food. A little pricey but well worth it.
Was in San Antonio for the Final 4 and wanted to stay away from the River Walk. We tried La Margarita and I’m sorry we didn’t fight the crowds. The food was barely acceptable, the service was no more than ok, the ambiance was good. In the end if you want a good Mexican dinner go somewhere else!
I have not been here in 20 years. It's changed but everything changes right? In the past, the Mariachi walked around and played for tips and now they literally come up to your table and ask if you want them to play a song for $20. It completely cheapened the whole dinner experience. Other than that, it's worth going but next time I'm in San Antonio I will go to another iconic restaurant, like Mi Tierra.
Ate here over 20 years ago - still the best Mexican food in San Antonio. Wandering Mariachis. Truly excellent waiter. Due to a sudden cloudburst, we were given free churros and big trash bags to make the dash to the car!
Love the food. Service is hit or miss. Margaritas are good value but upgrade the regular ones not so great.
Fun and good food on the River Walk in SA TX - server was outstanding on very busy night and we had a large crowd
Great food and a great environment with great service. Couldn't ask for more
The outdoor patio sitting could have been cleaner. Food was only okay.
Baptism, wedding, and birthdays all in one room. Wonderful time!
Even though was 45 min wait, it was worth it , the waitress was very pleasant and attentive and the food was very authentic, I am highly recommend
We had a great time food was awesome we were seated right away I made the reservation through Open Table
Unfortunately not a good one. Food quality was just Ok. We waited over 45 minutes to get the food and when we did get it, it was cold. Sad, as my previous experiences had been great.
Would have been great had an employee not spilled water on my wife
Pleasant. Relaxing. Satisfying. It was a perfect day to sit outside.
Our group was cared for well and food was good. Being able to enjoy an outside dinner in February is something we do not get to do at home.
Food is always spectacular. Great place for family dinner, friends get together or lunch.
Celebrating my birthday- party of seven ended up party of six.
Service was better than normal! Sorry- this place is normally so busy sometimes the service can get lost, however, the food is always awesome! Today the food and service was awesome!
We have lived in this town since 76' and we always bring out of town guest here! We love this place! Great bar, good food!
It was fun. The food and specialty liter of margarita was great. My guests were impressed. Thank you for the great food, drinks, and service.
I've been coming here since their original opening to far back to remember. My family and I have very fond memories of meals at La Margarita with our out of town guests. $42.95 for a pound of beef fajitas in San Antonio, Texas is ridiculous. This has become, like Mi Tierra the ultimate tourist trap. Food is not near what it used to be like. Portions are small compared to the large price that is charged. We were there on a rainy night without many people there and service was weak. I felt the place could be maintained better. Felt greasy. I used to like taking my out of town guest to Market Square and to eat some good Mexican food, but La Margarita is not that place anymore.
Made a reservation for 6 on a Thursday night, requested inside.
After 45 min of waiting, they offered an outdoor table.
And we were not the only ones waiting.
Several angry people who had made reservations they were not honoring.
Took an incredibly long time for anyone to even acknowledge us after we were seated and then
kept forgetting our orders, brought out wrong stuff, the drinks were weak
However, the fajitas themselves were not bad.
The rice no bueno..
I think the only reason this place is open still is tourist business.
Great food and excellent service on my Valentine’s Day date!
Food was ok, drinks were ok, it was just a bit noisy.
I was in town on business and just wanted a change between work and hotel. This place was amazing. The lights strung all around as you enter just light my dull eyes right up. The food was amazing and not badly priced. My favorite part was the Mariachi Band. They played at tables throughout the night. Beautiful. I am definitely looking forward to another business trip to San Antonio so I can make my way right back through their doors
This was a very disappointing experience.
I brought my Cousin from Out of State. We waited forever for our order to be taken, in-spite of the fact that people were just standing leaning against the counter.
Finally a gal came over to take the order.
45 min later after asking where the appetizers were, they appeared.
We should have made that our meal since the actual meal did not arrive until almost an hour later, having asked numerous people where our Waitress had gone, and what was the hold up for the food. We asked for the check and were going to leave when we were told our meal was ready and brought to us.
By then we had been there for close to 2 hours and needed to leave. We ate some of the food, and tried getting someone to take our check, again a wait.
This was very disappointing. all I can say is that I won't be returning there again.
It has always been good from my first visit many years ago. When I am in San Antonio I always eat there and always tell friends to visit there.
Awesome food. The combo fajitas platters for the table were excellent... And plentiful... It is Number one in San Antonio in my book for margaritas!!!
My sister and I ate here and thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks and service!
Had good time - great place
Great service, fun atmosphere and live mariachi bands
The Open Table app did not work. My reservations did not show up at the restaurant, but they were able to accommodate our large group quickly.
Great food great service what can I tell you
No other place like in Texas
Excellent food and service. A little loud with the mariachi bands but the food and service made up for any extra noise. Recommended.
