great customer services! waiter are the BEST, food came out HOT!
Good quick food. Good location. Very loud thought then the mariachi band started playing
Had an excellent meal at La Margarita near the historic market square. Very active and lively environment. Food was outstanding. I sat on the patio and enjoyed watching the comings and goings.
There was a mariachi band (though they charged $20 per song for requests).
Service was good. I would not say service was outstanding but that isn’t a criticism. It was what I would expect service to be.
Would highly recommend and would go again.
The Market area closes early during the week, so atmosphere was really dead around the restaurant. Nothing to see or do there after 6pm. Not sure if it is the same on weekends
Authentic San Antonio! Took my cousin from Louisiana to dinner while he was here on business. We enjoyed the food and ambiance! Our waiter was very attentive, but it was very loud. We had to speak loudly to hear one another. Everything else was great!
What a festive restaurant! The staff was lively and friendly. We were welcomed and treated to superb service. We had the combo fajitas which were served sizzling. The rice and beans were far superior to the competition. But the best item of all was the Mexican shrimp cocktail- it was one of the best I’ve ever had! The tomato juice had nice flavor, the shrimp were cut in bite-size pieces, and the avocado was nice and fresh. The free salsa was sick, not chunky, and very spicy. We were shocked that our five-year-old ate a whole bowl himself. But it sure was good. My frozen margarita was fantastic was my treat, but the kids loved the rich flan. If we lived in San Antonio, this would be our regular place to go to. It was a nice evening sitting on the patio and watching the shoppers walk by.
We took our guests for a meal that was excellent but couldn't enjoy our conversation due to the loud music. Restaurant sound & conversation is one thing butthe horn & constant music of the traveling mariachis was a definite deterrent to our enjoyment. A stage for performances might be better. Food and service was great and the portions were generous so no complaints there.
We went on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area. It was very crowded and we were thankful that we had a reservation. Our waiter was accommodating, but kind of gruff. The food was underwhelming. I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants in the US and this would not be one where I’d want to return. I’ve had much better
Great service and amazing food
The service was outstanding, presentation of food from cooks and servers and their knowledge of menu and food pairing, I was blown away ! The food was amazing we had enchiladas and the flavors and sauces just to die for! Gotta love them margaritas!! Don’t change a thing !! Will be back for more!!
Not as good as it used to be. We used to order fajitas that were full of flavor and I can not say that about this experience.
My reservation was for outside. Not only were we not seated outside (and told it was full and we could wait), we were seated at, likely, the worst table in the restaurant... about 4 feet from the bar, and right where the staff came to pick up drinks. I mean, that's the best place to sit somewhere there with a 4yo and a 16yo, right?🙄
Food wasn't good. Queso lacks any flavor, whatsoever. The bean and cheese nachos were really cheese nachos because the beans were either sparse or covered in a whole block of cheese. My little ones soft chicken taco couldn't even be eaten. Not only was the flavor of the chicken gross, but the time she got it, the juices had soaked through the corn tortilla.
Won't go back. Won't recommend. There are too many other good places to eat in San Antonio.
Food excellent, as always. Particularly enjoyed the baked oysters. The quality of all their ingredients is outstanding.
It was just mediocre. I dined many times at La Margarita back in the 1980’s. Traveling back to San Antonio for work, I couldn’t wait to return. Quite disappointed in overall experience
Stock Show Season
The service was pretty slow that night. Not sure why it didn't seem to be swamped.
Had some great oysters, the margarita by the liter was good too. The server was on point and took care of us really well.
Come from Housto to eat the cabrito. I brought 3 first time guests. Oysters were nasty. We order platter of cabrito, it came on side plate, no crisp and on same plate as dried out cabrito. First horrific experience. We've been coming happily for years, until now.
Had a great meal
The food and drinks were great and our dessert tasted as good as it looks. A little pricier thank you average Tex mex but that is expected for the downtown area. They validate your parking for one hour as well if you park in their lot directly behind the building.
We arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation. The staff was very friendly and greeted us enthusiastically. We were escorted to our table immediately. The service was excellent and the food was prepared wonderfully. Thank you.
We told them I was meeting a friend I hadn’t seen in 46 years and they seated us next to the bar and the mariachi band. It took 3 of us asking ( because nobody could hear anything) for them to move us outside. Then we could hear each other and catch up. I had the poblano enchiladas and enjoyed them very much. The frozen margaritas were weak and blah. Waitstaff attentive
Meet up with several of my Army Brothers as a mid point from all over Texas here at this restaurant for dinner and a few beers. Beer was great, food was great, service was a little slow or shall I say a little forgetful at times about our drinks. But overall this place was a great place to met up and handout at for the evening
Quality food and service. Never disappoints.
La Margarita is a good restaurant in the middle of Market Square in San Antonio which has a lot of shopping, authentic Mexican shops and small artisan shops. A good place to spend the afternoon and get something to eat.
Food was good , atmosphere good, a little loud. Loved the on-line reservation!
The lunch menu is very limited and my shrimp was not fully deveined. Very kid-friendly but otherwise mediocre experience. Recommend for dinner, not lunch.
We have frequented La Margarita on Christmas Day over the last 4 years+ and always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food.
This year they changed the menu to a very narrow selection. The oysters in the ceviche were not good. The chicken in the sour cream chicken enchiladas tasted like out of a can.
Will say the cocktails and the chips and salsa were good and the server was nice.
The service was good. The food didn't taste fresh. It wasn't warm. The tortillas and sweet tea were excellent.
Fantastic food, excellent service.
This as our first visit and it was a lot of fun. Food was good but not fantastic. Service was spot on. Everyone was friendly and prompt. I enjoyed the ambience with the Mariachi band and color decor. Overall a very fun place to eat. It’s a bit pricy for Mexican food but it’s to be expected at these locations.
Fun location and setting, but the food was average and the service was absolutely awful.
Had a great dinner accept for the LOUD OBNOXIOUS Christmas Party next to us that evening 😳🙄
Excellent, we come here often, we watched the Dallas Cowboys game while we enjoyed our meal. Our waiter was tops. Food hot and delicious
This restaurant has loads of inside and outside dining, but I highly recommend reservations. We had reservations on a Saturday night, and at 6:45, others were told that the wait was 90 minutes. The location is lively and so is the restaurant. The Don Margarita is outstanding. I had fish tacos and they were the best I've ever eaten. Everyone in our group loved their meal.
The food is good, not great. Service is prompt and attentive.
They will not seat you earlier than your reservation despite having numerous empty tables.
The place is EXTREMELY noisy; forget having a conversation.
This was my first time here. We had a group of 5. Earlier in the day, we ate the their sister restaurant-Mi Tierra. Very similar food, with the addition of Seafood. I actually had the fish platter and it was very good. The Nachas are amazing. They did have mariachis. You either like that or not. Me- Not.
All of our food was very, very good. And the speed in which we were served and the food was presented was spot on. Most Mexican food downtown, especially on the river walk is bad. This place wasnt that far and was simply amazing.
Graduation dinner! The staff, service & food were impeccable! My friends & family all arrived before me “The Graduate” due to delays leaving the parking lot of the Ceremony! Overall great service, environment and food! Outstanding waiter!
