La Mar by Gastón Acurio Ratings and Reviews
Visited with friends while we were all in town based on another friends recommendation. It was a rare windy 45 degree night in Miami and we inquired twice about having them keep one of the doors closed and they straight up refused both times (even though there were 4 other doors to use and ome couple left). So we suffered thru ceviche and seafood dishes while getting smacked in the face with strong gusts of winds every 1-5 minutes instead. For a hotel restaurant, def thought they’d be a bit more accommodating! The food was fine but you’ll find way more value in a lot of other Miami restaurants.
My expectations were more than fulfilled, I came for my 22dn wedding anniversary it has beautiful view, great food and service, at the end they killed us with a "happy anniversary cake" and I looked like a King ha ha ha , thank you guys, highly recommended.
Chose this place to take my boyfriend for his birthday and was highly disappointed. We had reservations but requested to wait to be seated outside. Wait time was supposed to be 25 minutes or less, it took 1 hour and 15 to get finally seated. The bar was small and took forever to get served 2 beers. We were told the manager was going to stop by our table, he didn’t even bother. the food was good but by the time we got seated, my boyfriend was already in a horrible mood... not even the view could make it better. Unfortunately a bad choice for his special night.
We heard so many good things about this place and are such fans of Peruvian food that we definitely wanted to try. Terrible experience. Made us wait for 30 minutes before assigning us table even though we had a reservation. Slow service. Waiter seemed to always be in a hurry and never really felt taken care of. Overpriced and limited wine options. Soulless food. The pesto octopus was brought to us cold. It’s a shame since the Mandarin Oriental is such a good hotel that their top restaurant is such a disappointment.
Great change with Peruvian cuisine. Whole fish preparation was perfect. Enough for two to share. Ceviche sampler was prepared with great flavor and spice. Also we shared the octopus, which we highly recommend.
First class in every aspect. If in Miami, this is a place to go and to enjoy an outside view of the city lights and enjoy a fantastic dinner.
