La Mar by Gastón Acurio Ratings and Reviews
After an initial rough start...the two ladies running check in weren’t very professional ( and that’s being kind)...the manager, Dwayne, amended the issues and the food was delicious. Our server was wonderful and very knowledgeable and he went beyond basic service. Overall, we had a great dinner and enjoyed chocolate martinis upstairs at MO afterwards!
The food was delicious; the server was very helpful.
Our big beef was that we really wanted a table outside. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait for a table outside, but could have a table inside immediately. There were many unoccupied tables outside. We asked and they said they were reserved or being cleaned off for people already waiting. That was not the case. Many tables remained empty and I believe the issue had to do with a staffing issue. For a restaurant of this caliber and the fantastic weather, this was very disappointing.
Apart from that, it was a wonderful experience.
Valet parking available. Doorman was friendly and professional. Beautiful waterfront scenery from hotel lobby. Restaurant had a lovely ambiance. Makes it very romantic. Food was well prepared and worth the price. Ordered a spicy drink called Smokey pineapple and it was delicious. Can't give it 5 stars just because table by the edge not available. Other than that minor request everything else was perfect. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 entrees and were fulfilled. Portions are sharable. After dinner there is a lovely strip where you can go for a walk. Definitely will be back to visit.
We were staying in The Mandarin Oriental and the restaurant had good reviews. ....oh well. VERY noisy inside.....the deck was quieter and the hostess was nice enough to seat us there when we made a request for the change. Serve4s were slow and disorganized. Two appetizers and dinner were merely ok and expensive for what they were. The drinks ...were actually very good. Overall. There are a lot of other places to try and this is not a priority for a great dinner. We were going to try their brunch....which begins at $95 and an option for $135...... largely because of the better champagnes they match...but no other option. Given dinner experience....a pass.
.Two people shared empanadas and a chocolate dessert and we each had a lomo saltado. We were in a hurry and our older male waiter took 15 minutes to even come over and say hi. We ordered right away and everything was perfect from that point on. I expect more attention from La Mar, but maybe there were having an off day. Food was great as always.
Food amazing, table service exceptional. Hostess was rude and careless. Despite we booked a table for 2 outdoors at 9 PM she said we had to wait 45 minutes to get the table. We understand things happen but they way she got his addresses was totally unprofessional and did considered. Instead we had to take a table in a
Corner where every time people passed table was hit and we were unable to move it. Since it was our first wedding anniversary we decided not to pay attention to the rudeness of the hostess and make the best out of what we’ve got.
Customer service was HORRIBLE and when you're paying $33 for lomo saltado that on average it will cost you at any local Peruvian restaurant between $12-$18 management needs to be retrained on training the staff on offering a better customer service experience.
Everything was awesome the only complain I had was that I had requested a table right by the water and I had a reservation for 9:15 and when I checked in at 9:15 they told me that for outside I had like a 45 minute wait cause I had 3 other parties in front of me. But other than that it was spectacular!!
Awful experience- tried calling to change our reservation multiple times - no answer and no way to leave a voice mail. Parking is hard to find unless one chooses to use the valet service. Food was over priced at the quality level rendered. The noise made it hard to carry a conversation without raising ones voice. It felt stuffy and overall the least favorite part of our three day trip . So many wonderful other places to dine at less of a price point, better service, and better meal.
