Beautiful and romantic view of Miami. Great service and very unique healthy foods which were a joy to the palate. You can stroll around Brickell Key after your meal.

We had a good experience but service was not the best
It took the waiter 15 minutes to acknowledge our table I think the service should be more on point. Service wasn’t great it was just ok, food good and ambiance as well but I think that when service is slacking the overall experience is not the best.

Fantastic food and service. Beautiful oceanfront view. Great selection. Nice to sample a variety Peruvian foods that we just don’t get where we are from. Great variety of drinks - Highly recommend the rose wine! Would definitely recommend the experience.

Menu print hard to read. Thanks to iPhone flashlight. Portions small for the price. The Amazon small fish in bananas leaves was outstanding. Chocolate dessert interesting presentation . Other appetizers and entrees were just there, nothing spectacular

I have been in many Gaston restaurants, always delightful. But this one is not even real Peruvian food. Reheated dishes overcooked rice, and flavorless ceviche. And at the end you are charged with an obligatory tip not deserved. Just disappointed

Overall not too bad but service was slow. Our server had several other large groups where we were a party of 2 and I assume not as important because of the tip potential on the other tables. Server was way more chatty with them and giving them lots of extra attention.

An amazing dinner experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the dessert just topped it all off. The servers were incredibly friendly and the wine and drinks were very good. Most importantly, the view of all of the towers just on the mainland made for a wonderful diner experience.

We drove to Miami from NC to board a cruise ship. We came a day early to see the city. We made a reservation at La Mar on a recommendation from a friend. And our friend was soooo right. The food was incredible and what a great view of the lights of the city. Sitting on the deck was lovely and Rafael our waiter did a fantastic job!! If we ever return to Miami, La Mar will be on our list.

I would have loved to give La Mar a perfect five star rating because the things they did right they did very very well. The host was on top of his game and although there was a constant Line of people coming into the restaurant he managed to allow us to have a cocktail at the bar, then called us when a perfect table was ready. Our waiter was very capable and informative however unavailable during long periods of time. Dirty dishes were left at the table long after we had finished. So in this regard Service was not top-notch. With regard to food, we ordered a ceviche combination As a starter, which was absolutely spectacular in every sense beautifully presented, absolutely fresh and and A pleasure to start our meal. We decided to order a amazingly displayed fried yellowtail snapper as an entrée to split. The presentation of this dish was truly extraordinary and beautiful. The difficulty we faced with this dish was the freshness of the fish was just not worthy of the dish. I wouldn’t say the fish was old or bad, but it was not deliciously fresh and juicy as our prior dish. It was a bit shop worn.We thought of sending it back but decided it would be OK. In the end it was disappointing. We truly wished it were as extraordinary as our appetizer course was. So as I said in the opening of this review, what was done properly was done extraordinarily well but a few things lacked making for a less than perfect first experience at La Mer

This time the service was not great, no coordination, long wait time, waiter wasn’t available consistently, table was left dirty in between meal courses. Too many service people and little value in what they all are doing. Appetizers are great, main not so good. After having been here for 3 times will likely not be back again.

We happened to go when the weather in Miami got a little cold, therefore most everyone wanted to sit outside. This might be the reason my waiter seemed to be waiting on half of the dinning room by himself. I counted that he had a least eight tables! It was 15 minutes between drinks, the bar is three steps away. Lighting to dim, not able to read the menu because of the font size. The food was amazing service did not match nor the ambience . I don't see the need for a DJ ? You have to yell to the person sitting across from you. I would come back just to see if my experience was a Fluke

Very disappointing, far too loud, aimed at young people although most diners were much older. Impossible to have conversation. They should turn down the music or have more soft surfaces. Food was okay but service was formulaic and obviously insincere. We were celebrating a special occasion so extremely frustrated that we could not communicate properly.

We have been to La Mar many times, and we generally love it.... but not this time. Now, they are making you place your order all at once (so you can't order appetizers first, and time your meal) and we felt rushed the entire time. Servers kept coming by to rush us - which was unwarranted since it was 3 of us with a sizeable order (so we were not idly sitting at the table without consuming). In fact, our bill was quite large. It really is too bad, because it impacted our experience - and we were with a client we wanted to impress. I'd recommend they go back to how they used to be. But for now, I'd think about going back there again soon.

The food is good, but overrated and probably over-priced.
We wanted to try the tasting menu; we were three people at the table and thought to order 1 tasting menu and then more dishes, so we'd be able to try more things on the menu. The waiter gave us a very lame excuse for not allowing us to do that.
I didn't like the service. Even my 14-year-old son perceived inauthentic friendliness coming from the waiters. Also, we were still working on our food, and they already wanted to take our plates away; we told them in different occasions, "I'm not done" because a waiter tried to remove a plate without asking first. We felt rushed.
It was my birthday so they brought a little birthday cake (individual portion), which I found a nice detail (even though I don't eat sweets). I tasted it, to show some appreciation, and it was very mediocre. I think if they're offering this type of nice details, they should aim for a better, more special dessert -- not your nothing-special, regular chocolate layered cake.
I don't think I'll recommend the restaurant to a friend or I'll come back (even it's a 10-minute walk from home).

Went to La Mar for my girlfriend’s birthday. We arrived at 8:25pm but didn’t get seated until 9pm. The outdoor area was closed due to a little rain in the afternoon. We had a couple of gin and tonics at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready. I think a 45 min wait was pretty long given that we had reservations for 8:15.

When we finally got seated, we were served by Anastasia who was very nice and attentive. The busser Claudia was amazing! She was the sweetest and took really good care of us as well.

The food was outstanding. We had the cebiche sampler to start. It was very light and super delicious. As an entree, we ordered the whole fish Nikkei which was very tasty and more than enough for 2. We finished with the Peruvian chocolate exploration which had 4 dessert items with the burnt white chocolate being our favorite.

As far as drinks are concerned the pisco sour is a must have!

We will definitely go back and hope management is more attentive to the wait time

The setting for the restaurant is spectacular, if you eat out on the patio. It’s my new favorite place to take out of town guests. Sits on the water, overlooking Brickell.

It was delightful outside. Of course, this is November. On the other hand, I would not have wanted to eat inside, since it was way too noisy. (It was also Friday night.)

The food was unique, and I was really impressed with the variety. The combination of Peruvian specialties was a bit challenging, but a welcome change from typical Miami fair, even at the better restaurants. Most of the ceviche‘s were quite good, although a couple were a bit salty.

I suspect we will be going back regularly
