Excellent food, wonderful setting and attentive service, will be back
Burnt food. Advised the server and he said he would tell the chef. Not worth the money.
Normal. Nothing special...
Food was very good, but not really Peruvian. If you’re looking for Peruvian food this isn’t the place to go. Very pricey although acknowledge you are paying for location on the water (though we were inside so no view).
The setting for the restaurant is spectacular, if you eat out on the patio. It’s my new favorite place to take out of town guests. Sits on the water, overlooking Brickell.
It was delightful outside. Of course, this is November. On the other hand, I would not have wanted to eat inside, since it was way too noisy. (It was also Friday night.)
The food was unique, and I was really impressed with the variety. The combination of Peruvian specialties was a bit challenging, but a welcome change from typical Miami fair, even at the better restaurants. Most of the ceviche‘s were quite good, although a couple were a bit salty.
I suspect we will be going back regularly
Beautiful setting overlooking the downtown skyline, nice cocktails and friendly staff. The food looked great but was so so to eat. I had the whole tail yellow snapper but it was just totally covered in batter so was pretty bland and greasy. My friends had the pork shank which again looked great but was just caked in fat with no veg/sides with it. Very expensive for average food. Would recommend you go for cocktails with a nice view and go elsewhere to eat!
Nice but a bit far from the river considering I had asked to eat outside since the booking
Amazing experience with a nice view and service
Service was excellent. Food very good.Would definitely recommend your restaurant.
The four of us had the same, lunch menu special as we were pressed for time and this option is served promptly. We were disappointed. The main dish was very salty. The juice they offered was very good, the appetizer not to our liking, and the chocolate mousse for our dessert was very good.
Third time eating at La Mar in Miami at The Mandarin. This time we felt the food did not meet the standards of this restaurant. Maybe it was because it was a lunch menu special “deal” or maybe that day the chef was not at his best. Nevertheless we expected a higher standard. We are hesitant to return for lunch :(
Amazing service, amazing view... food was great.
Amazing food!!! Seating outside is first come first served even if you have a reservation, which is a bit annoying.
But the size of the plates are fair, taking into account that usually in high end restaurants the portions are so small.
TASTE is soo great!!! and service is good as well. You dont feel rushed by the staff. Also the view its great!!! Deff recommend
Excelent good, well priced, superb location, great service. I found wine well overpriced for what offered. The cheapest glass was $14 for a 2018 mid level wine.
View, service and food were amazing! Highly recommend this place for a memorable meal.
The food was excellent but the service lacked somewhat. We had guests from Hong Kong and Spain & they even remarked on the service. Everyone really enjoyed the pork shank and my wife & I tried the scallop appetizer - excellently prepared but as an example of the service, she spilled a little of the parmesan sauce off of the scallop shell onto to her serving plate. The waiter took away the shells but left her dirty serving plate. Plus we had to ask for an extra napkin for one of our guests after who had place his dirty napkin plus some kleenex on the table. Could be better especially considering you are a fairly high end restaurant in a luxury level hotel.
Overall the ambiance was nice
Pro. Good service, good ambiance, good drinks.
Cons. the restaurant... there’s no self parking. You have to valet parking for $16 us rate. Inside the hotel.
The Ceviche is overpriced for a ceviche $23 to $32 us
Also it was really spicy
I love ceviche and I went to LA MAR for the raw seafood ,it wasn’t what I expected.
the setting beautiful, they gave us one of the best tables, but about the food, the menu is extremely short in vegetarian options, only two and not very creative...,grill vegetables....
besides that was a good experience
Excellent service and view. The ceviche was very good. For the main course we ordered the snapper and where underwhelmed. The fish was battered in what tasted like corn meal-think fish fry-the sauce with the fish tasted like duck sauce. We expected more for the price.
Muy buena opción, lugar y comidas muy buena, al igual que la atención. Los precios son razonables.
Located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Brickell Key with a stunning view of downtown Miami, La Mar is a unique Peruvian/Japanese fusion restaurant. We sat outdoors on a gorgeous day for a leisurely lunch. It's rare that we spend over $300 on lunch (!), but this meal was worth every penny. We started out with the house pisco mojitos, which were artisanal, fresh, WAY too easy to drink, and which were a nice twist on the traditional rum mojito. We began with the recommended and very delicious "cebiche sampler," which included Classico, Carretillero, and Pulpo al Olivo (fluke, fish of the day, and octopus). La Mar's cebiche is made with a leche de tigre marinade of lime and aji peppers.
Next, we selected two Piqueos Calientes: Conchitas a la Parmesana (succulent grilled scallops in Parmesan cheese foam, served on the scallop shells, resting on a bed of pebbles wreathed in a dry ice fog and garnished with seaweed) and Empanadas (chicken, pecans, and Monchego cheese). Both of these starters were excellent as well.
We shared a plate of Chaufa Aeropuerto (chinese sausage, roasted pork, quinoa, shrimp omelette, and nikkei sauce).
We finished with the Chocolate Exploration, a plate of chocolate themed desserts representing the various regions of Peru, accompanied by cortadito (coffee with milk).
We spent over two and a half hours immersed in this superb dining experience, enhanced by our knowledgeable and attentive waitress Victoria, a native of Argentina. She recommended every item that we tried, and all of her suggestions were pitch-perfect! This establishment is highly recommended, but be sure to bring a big wallet.
Best restaurant in Miami
Tried the tasting menu, and the flavor combinations were fantastic. Great service. Probably one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.
I had a Sunday brunch at La Mar. All the dishes in the buffer were excellent also the Loma Saltados was just perfect.
Fantastic… Everything single thing we tried was excellent.
Gorgeous views, incredible food, mediocre service. The waiter wasn’t very attentive and borderline rude. Not what you’d expect for a restaurant of its caliber. Overall the food and views outweighed the poor service, would definitely dine here again. Perfect for a date night!
I would go back. An outside table would be the better choice (weather depending of course as it is uncovered). The view of Miami is nice.
Very nice dinner with beautiful views of the Miami evening skyline. Entrees and appetizers were nicely flavored and unique. Service was friendly and attentive.
Excellent presentation and flavors. Well informed servers although they were at times innattentive.
Experiencia increíble de haber estado en un restaurante de Acurio.
Todo acorde a lo que significa la gastronomía peruana.
El personal amabilísimo.
El pisco, la causa, las conchillas para no olvidar.
Was a bit too noisy. Food was good but not great as I had expected from a restaurant bearing this famous chefs name. Its was "all right". We ordered Lomo Saltado and it was good but not super good. We also ordered Picante de Camarones and it was also all right.
The food, service and ambiance was excellent!! It is a bit noisy though. But what’s important is the food and it was great!
Excellent ambiance! Excellent service!
Great place if you don’t mind expending more than usual to be a little fancy
Food was delicious - lots of interesting flavors, from the small plates to the main courses. Service was incredible. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and Jennifer, our main waiter, made our guest of honor feel quite special. Place had a nice buzz to it. Nighttime downtown Miami skyline views across the water added a nice backdrop to a fine evening of dining. We’ll definitely be back.
My wife’s birthday was perfect due to the La Mar experience. Amazing food and views of the water. Worth every penny. Absolutely amazing experience.
Lugar con una vista espectacular, comida muy rica . Todo para pasar una excelente velada.
Food was excellent - ambiance was good. We were just annoyed by their “strict policy” to change tables. We asked right after seating down and the staff declined. The couple behind us left and we asked to move there. We had not ordered anything ... and we were not very happy with the location. This just dictated the whole dining experience for us. Price was very high for what it was - double my expectations.
Staff was very attentive and professional. Beautiful setting. Excellent cuisine. Was there solo for my last meal in vacation and I felt privileged to be there.
It's too far to be good Peruvian food, the ceviche taste was normal, I was hoping something incredible, I don't want to offend but was almost the worst ceviche that I tested.
