La Hacienda at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Ratings and Reviews
Outstanding service with quality food. The menu had traditional Tex Mex style food to authentic mexican. The chef put his own creative flare on each of the dishes making them more unique and flavorful meals that you couldn’t find anywhere else. Great dinner overall. Would definitely go back when I’m in town next!
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess does a fantastic job creating a wonderful family environment for the holidays! That's why we were a bit disappointed about our New Year's Eve dining experience at LaHacienda (at 5:30, party of 7 with 3 young children - so not expecting a big midnight todo). The food was very good but the amount, selection and presentation for the $75 cost per person left us a bit 'blah' - and disappointed.
Truly the best dining experience we have ever had. For a special occasion in the day of our engagement. Dustin the general manager made sure we had everything we needed and more. And our server Alfonso and the rest of the staff were outstanding. Outstanding service, food, and drinks. An all around success.
The menu changed since the last time we dined here. I liked the old menu better; however, everyone loved their meals! (Seasonal plates, tacos, enchiladas, etc) We were seated by entrance to the kitchen which I never enjoy but we were a larger party. The flaming drinks at the end were enjoyable as always. Love the overall decor and feel of the restaurant.
Magical night at the Scottsdale Fairmont Princess seeing all the holiday decor. We started with dinner at the La Hacienda. Food was wonderful and service outstanding. We were able to be seated outside under the warm heaters, but not at a fire pit table as requested. The glich was that Open Table reservations are not eligible for special seating requests. I found out I should have called the restaurant directly. Regardless we had a great time.
I really like the food but it is way overpriced. We were ok w that since we had family in town but the music was so loud we could not hear the person two seats away. I understand it’s for atmosphere but it took away from our evening so I don’t think we will be back
I've been going to this restaurant since the 90s when i would vacation in Scottsdale and loved it! Then it closed and then it reopened and we moved here, but it wasn't so good then. But now, this time it was really delicious! We gave it another shot because we came to see the fabulous Christmas lights!!!!! We'll definately be back! When we want upscale Mexican food at a fabulous resort! Just wish the servers were a bit friendlier and attentive.
My husband and I ate here with the kids before attending Christmas at the Princess. With the exception of the kids quesadillas (kids said they were cold and dry), all the food was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. The churros for dessert were amazing. Prices were high but expected. I would recommend eating here for a special occasion.
Although La Hacienda is a little pricy, the food is excellent and Will, our server was excellent and very helpful in answering all of our questions about the vast menu items. Scottsdale and Phoenix have many good Mexican restaurants, but the food at La Havienda is excellent and with so many entries, everyone can find an entry or appetizers to satisfy them.
Love spot by fireplace but no fire anymore. Disappointed but candles as replacements for wood were nice touch to compensate. Love the ambiance and elegant cozy feel here. Good tequlia menu. Like the diablo marg. However-
Having had a very good experience previously- was Sorely disappointed this visit-we arrived late had to wait to valet-but we called to notify about 5-10 min late and restaurant said no problem. Went to desk and then had a bit of a wait for our table- and walked into a dining room full of wide open tables. Waited for our server, who was very nice. Attentive bussers. Had to request for chips and salsa- salsa very good, chips so salty and tough almost inedible.
Once watered and menu questions answered, our waiter totally dissappeared. Waited a long time for his return to order. Upon ordering, our food came out in just minutes bought by a runner- obviously requiring no prep time. Fish tacos good but very very spicy, no option for grilled , brought fried, I like spicy. Carnitas were good, but not hot-presentation and light on sauces and accompaniment- except slaw(tons) and no tortillas accompanying, was a drawback- had to order tortillas at extra cost , and 3 small tortillas came out ($3)- doughey and tough obviously undercooked. Would have sent back (definitely would have sent back if I knew I was paying 1.00 per tortilla) but waiter never came back to check- another manager or other kept coming trying to clear our unfinished plates -2x- once without asking! Annoying ! We ordered churros for desert- very good. In all for 2 drinks 2 entrees(served under 5 minutes) and 1 desert we were seated over 2 hours, to give an idea of our wait. Not what I expected. As a result we ran short on time to see the holiday light show and enjoy skating etc.
in addition our tale home only consisted of the remaining hunk of carnitas meat- none of the slaw or accompaniment.
.. we were here over Labor Day & the food was over the top.. the guacamole was amazing, entree & desserts.. but this time the the guacamole was not that good, the entree was ok & the amazing chocolate dessert was no longer on the menu?? We ordered a coconut white cream cake .. was not good!! Sorry but we booked for 2 nights & cancelled the second!! Made us sad!!
We are from DC and are used to higher prices. The high cost wouldn't have been so shocking, had the quality of food and options been better. The menu in the restaurant was different from the one posted online. Few options for the vegetarian in our party. Our server suggested vegetable fajitas, which consisted of grilled corn, peppers, and onions ... for $25. Expected more of a Richard Sandoval restaurant.
The appetizers were delicious. We had blossom quesadillas and chorizos and potato empanadas and different. My husband had carnitas and slaw for his mail meal. I was already full so I had a BBQ salad. The special hacienda margheritas were fabulous.
We ended with the churros and three sauces. Amazing.
Our waitress, Amy, was outstanding!
The food was not worth the price, the margarita was ok but the sangria was so-so. The desert and coffee was the highlight of the evening.
We were going to see the lights but my wife got sick shortly after eating so we left for home. All in all it was a extremely disappointing experience.
As always, a great dining experience at La Hacienda. They seated us promptly even though it was busy and we arrived early. Friendly and efficient service, great food - guacamole made right at the table - with ample portions, and nice atmosphere. It is not inexpensive, but the overall experience is worth the cost. As a side note, they will validate your valet parking ticket which is a great help at Christmas time when the resort is charging high rates because of the holiday light displays and special attractions for families.
Highly recommend La Hacienda for a special occasion dinner as well as casual dining at any time of the year.
We booked La Hacienda knowing we wanted to do Christmas at the Princess and that you get the festivities for free when dining at one of their restaurants. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. I was disappointed, seeing they had been rated a top Mexican restaurant, I had high hopes, but I did not find it above par. I think there are a lot better Mexican places in the Valley, however, I also know that opinions on Mexican food varies greatly. The margarita I had was delicious! Service was great and the overall atmosphere is great. We were stuck inside in a corner, I would have preferred being outside, but it was busy so we took what they gave us. Overall, if you are in the area or at the resort, it is worth checking out. I would see if they have a happy hour and sit at the bar area. But I don't think we'll be back for dinner any time soon.
Food and ambience are top notch. The table service is pretty good. However, the hostess process is neither good or efficient. Because of the nonchalant attitude and personal conversations among several hostesses, we will likely not be returning. Too bad as this restaurant had always been on our must do list while visiting Scottsdale.
Great food, perfect location, beautiful setting. The only disappointment was our server. I ordered tacos for my grand daughter (9years old) due to the fact that the server did not come to our side of the table, he did not hear my order and failed to bring the tacos. (This was promptly corrected) The server mistook my son in law as the principal in our party, and concentrated on insuring that he had drinks, and attention. As I was seated in the back of the table, he literally ignored me as the one to pay the bill, ( and the tip)-------as we finished our meal, I requested a desert menu; he returned, collected the menus, and started to leave the table while I shouted to him that I would like to order desert!------He left the bill with my son in law. After an UNREASONABLE time, I suggested that the 5 family members go and enjoy the festivities & I would handle the bill as I had planned to do. I requested our valet parking tickets be validated and was curtly told that my son in laws ticket would be validated, but my ticket didn't qualify. (Valet parking was included with $75.00 purchase------our dining bill was $300.00)
Other than the disappointing service, this place is spectacular. We WILL return & choose our waiter carefully.
