La Habichuela - Centro Ratings and Reviews
We usually try to hit this restaurant each time we come to Cancun. As usual the food and service was excellent. Very attentive staff and the open air seating area creates a very beautiful spot for a meal. Very good selection on the menu and well priced for the type of restaurant.
Estuvimos en una reunión con un amigo colombiano y pudimos charlar muy bien en un ambiente súper agradable. Los alimentos con muy buen sabor, el pan es delicioso y la carta de vinos es pequeña, pero su precio menor que en otros
sitios. Tiene estacionamiento. Muy recomendable
LH Centro May be the best dining experience in Cancun. Beautiful outdoor dining in a spectacular courtyard with wonderfully prepared food and special service by Armando.
Note: this is in a very old section of Cancun - totally safe - but take a taxi to/from as the streets are very narrow and a bit confusing.
My husband and I have been going to Cancun every year for 23 years and we have made it a tradition to go to La Habichuela on Friday night, the last night of our stay. They always have their traditional dishes but they also have new ones and the chef's special to choose from. This time we had the grouper with the guava sauce and it was delicious! The evening started out with 2 glasses of house wine which was pretty good. They brought us a variety of bread in a basket from which we could choose. We ordered the Caesar salad which is one of the best in Cancun and prepared table side. It seemed to be a very popular choice among all the diners that evening. It was outstanding as always. Next, they brought us an anise sorbet served in a citrus shell of some sort to cleanse our palate. Our main course of the grouper was next and it was exceptional, served with a polenta and vegetables. We had a bottle of chardonnay with dinner. And we always save room for dessert. This time we had the bananas flambe, also prepared table side. Heaven! The waiters are truly upper classed and traditionally trained. The outside atmosphere is gorgeous with large princess chairs at every table and lights twinkling in the trees. Even though it's warmer and more humid outside, I highly recommend it - they had fans blowing on the tables to cool people off. The entire dinner came to $115 before tip and can't be beat considering the ambiance, service, food, wine, and beautiful setting. This will continue to be our special last evening in Cancun!
We love this place. I meant to try the one on the hotel zone, but once I noticed the location, I kept it. Took some family for their anniversary and they were very pleased. Top notch service and great surf and turf dinner. The outside courtyard is so beautiful with the lights. It's worth the extra drive.
We came here after hearing and reading about this place from locals. To be honest, it's a very expensive restaurant and caters mostly to tourists (the only other patrons that were there were three families all visiting Cancun). The food was ok, nothing extraordinary. The service was top notch and the outdoor dining provided great ambiance but our bill came to over $140 for two people with just two drinks. If you want a more authentic meal at 1/10 of the La Habichuela price just head over to the nearby Parque Las Palapas and dine with the locals in an outdoor and jovial environment.
We wanted to try something off the hotel zone in the search for great food we found this online. They have a hotel zone location but we decided to taxi our way to Cancun down town and oh boy were we in for a special treat. Old school service, amazing sea food very nice wine list and the setting is so authentic and charming.
We had some of the best ceviche I've had anywhere in the world. Great texture octopus, plenty of sea creatures marinated just perfectly. Zero acidic overwhelming flavors here.
I had the Cocobichuela for dinner, my date the grilled sea food. Remember, this place has been around 40 years! The Cocobichuela is one of the most ingenious dishes, perfectly marinated lobster and shrimp served inside a coconut. They claim 477,000 people have had this dish and loved it. Count me I. At 477,001!
Take my advice, book this place and leave the resort at least once for a very special treat!
I won't go to Cancun without a visit to La Habichuela. Some restaurants need to morph, change, and keep current. La Habichuela isn't one of them. Everytime I walk in, I am taken in by the beauty of the restaurant, particularly the outside seating. The service is excellent (Thank you, Ascencio), the food is consistently good. The menu doesn't change, but it doesn't need to. Also, it's very reasonable; not "Mexico cheap" but for the quality of food, it's very fair. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu.
Wonderful experience as always! We come here every time in Cancun... This time for Valentines Day with another couple. The service was OK for as busy as it was. Our Mexican coffees were a little on the cool side because the wait staff was so busy-- they brought out the ingredients and then left them sit for too long. Other than that, the food and the ambience were great
We visited here with a party of 8 to celebrate a birthday while visiting Quintana Roo. The outside seating is in a wonderful garden setting! La Habichuela is located near the Parque Las Palapas which is a great local carnival setting to see as well! Everyone was very happy with the food and the pitchers of Sangria. The architecture and ambiance of this older local dining establishment created the perfect setting for us!
Esperamos volver pronto.
