La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. The La Grotta staff is also well known and regarded for its vast knowledge of its customers, the food, diverse knowledge of languages (our staff speaks Italian, Spanish, French & German) and attention to detail. The menu specializes in Northern Italian cuisine with seasonal changes to reflect freshness of ingredients with a focus on locally grown produce.
Amazing service and food!
It was excellent in every aspect!! We’ll be back soon!
Great food. Attentive service. Head waiter at our table was not very warm at first but got better towards the end. He did not give any information about specials. Fortunately we could hear him give another table the low down.
I took advantage of the wine tasting dinner menu. Each course was excellent. The portion sizes were reasonable considering we had five courses. The Oregon wines were ok
Attended one of LaGrotta’s wine pairing meals featuring Willimette Valley Winery. Very nice wine which features tier notable Pinot Noir varieties. Meals always great
Excellent as always
The entire dining experience was wonderful with an exceptional staff. This was my first time here, but will not be my last.
Wonderful old school italian. Excellent service, delicious food.
It was a magical experience. It was like stepping into another time when restaurants were all about exceptional everything. From the hors d'oeuvres to the dessert, the food was perfectly prepared. We were celebrating a family birthday. They brought us champagne and put a candle in the tiramisu. It was worth the six week await from when I tried to make reservations in August.
Best Italian in town, my go-to always! Highly recommend the sachetti
Delicious,professional wait staff,Rebecca is a fabulous bartender!Always a 5 star experience.
Excellent place to go for a date or more. Beautiful experience.
Wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion
Local crowd, subdued atmosphere. Excellent wait-staff, sorry I can't remember his name, b ut chose the wine perfectly. Felt completely unhurried
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here on Thursday night. We are Atlanta natives and used to eat at La Grotta years ago (20+) . Every dish was superb. Service was excellent. It was a rare cool August evening so we sat outside. The patio / outside area was very nice except for some loud goons seated next to us. Not a big deal but detracted from a "perfect" evening at this Atlanta classic. We plan to go back in a few weeks---it was that good!
Everything I’ve heard good about this place is true. It’s romantic (but it was a business dinner) Old world elegance and service and the food is amazing. Best meal I’ve had since being transferred to ATL
This is an old Atlanta standby and I have a lot of memories here but the smells in the lobby to get to the elevator to head down to the restaurant will kill anyone’s appetite. The restaurant is old and dusting and needs to be updates and cleaned BADLY! The service was below average. Our waiter was a bit sarcastic and would disappear for LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG periods of time, we actually gave our credit cards to the water person.
The food, however, is surprisingly good.
Sadly, I have no desire to go back because the atmosphere is so old and dusty and depressing that I’m actually a little wary about eating there.
Dinner at La Grotta is always a wonderful experience. This was our 48th wedding anniversary and as usual, we were treated like royalty. Special compliments to Julien. He always remembers us. We have been coming on our anniversary for the last 8 years. and, our compliments to the chef and bartender!
Food was excellent, service fair(suprising) since we have been many times before and service was good. Adjacent table with 4 women was loud and detracted from the overall experience.
We have a great dinner with wonderful food.
Always include dinner at La Grotta when we visit Atlanta- it’s the Best!
Best restaurant in town. They just do it right . The meals are fantastic - I had the lamb and loved it. The ambience is wonderful and the service is first class.
Food was fantastic, among the best we have had. Great place especially for an anniversary. We will definitely go back.
Very good food. Nice ambience. Excellent service.
Always fabulous. An Atlanta institution!
Took our friends out to La Grotta--everyone loved their meal, appetizers, etc. The meal was even better than I remember from the last time we ate there!
La Grotta is always amazing. Tonight we had great food and service. The staff was sure to congratulate us on our anniversary and provided complimentary champagne with our dessert. Just outstanding! Can’t wait to go back!
lovely restaurant...delicious food and great service!!!!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant! From start to finish everything was impeccable.
We got there just in time for our reservation and we were seated right away at a great table where we could see basically the entire restaurant. We were greeted and offered drinks right away as well as bread.
Our server came over, he was fantastic, an older gentlemen with long hair and a very distinct mustache. His wife is Sicilian and German. He was wonderful! He gave us some fantastic suggestions.
We started with the Burrata which was to absolutely die for with the black truffle on top. Our next course we had the shaved artichoke salad. Our server told us you can't find something like it in the US so I had to try it and we were blown away. My boyfriend had the veal and his mashed potatoes were the best mashed potatoes I'd ever tried. The Sacchettti was probably the best thing I've ever tried. ALL THE TRUFFLE WAS AMAZING! The martini was the honest to God best martini I've ever had. I couldn't believe how easy it was going down. The Limencello was fantastic and the tiramasu was light and the perfect way to end the meal.
Thank you so much to this restaurant. It was my boyfriend and I's one year anniversary and it was one for the books thanks to you! We will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful time celebrating my mothers birthday! It was fabulous. She hasn’t stopped talking about it since!
The evening was wonderful. The food and drink were wonderful and the staff was excellent. We could not have asked for anything more.
Classy and delicious. 3 hour unhurried meal to celebrate a birthday. From pre-dinner drinks to apps to meal and dessert, the service and food were first rate. One of Atlanta’s top restaurants for decades. Still strong. Risotto is other-worldly. Tortellini was fantastic as was the steak. Ricotta cheesecake was a bit dry, but that’s quibbling.
Great food and history but it’s very dated and stuffy. It felt like an exclusive spot for the “cool kids”.
I really like the location, it’s a cave after all. The inside was beautiful but I was sat outside and the mosquitoes were huge. It was hot and humid so that was so uncomfortable and I asked to be moved inside. The food was not the best I’ve ever had but not the worst. There is also complementary valet ONLY.
This is the best Italian we've had in the city! Dinner was incredible and the staff was so nice and attentive. We will definitely be coming back!
Wonderful. Could not have been better!
We had Tony as our waiter. He is the best.
